My first guitar was a Gibson ES330.

I'm predominantly a sax player, but on songs where there was no sax part, I'd either play bass and let the bass player play guitar, or play rhythm guitar using the guitarist's 'other' guitar.

He played a 335 on stage, which I never got to play, instead, I played rhythm on Tele.

After I quit the band, I saw a 330 in a music store, thinking it was a 335, I bought it. I later learned the difference, and decided the 330 was a better match for me, anyway.

Years later, when I got serious about guitar (my 7th instrument) I bought a Parker Dragonfly/maxxfly because I didn't want to take the Gibson out and play it outdoors near salt water.

I bough Ample sound plugin because i don't know how to play guitar , tried to understand the plugin (and i'm no noob) and the amount of knowlegde need to create a simple strum line , made me come to that conclusion : learn how to play guitar and bass zo lol

This was the place I bought my first guitar. First 3 actually. I still have them. I bought my first 2 amps there, my band got all their PA gear there. My first guitar rack gear, mic, keyboard, 8 track recording machine. Countless strings, cables, and a 100 other pieces of gear over the years. Basically from the time before I was in a band, all through my 16 years playing out, till the day I moved away, everything I bought that was music related came from there.

The first time I went there was with my brother when I was a little kid back in the 70s. We went together one last time on Friday. They were selling the guitar racks off the walls and everything else was gone by the time we got there.

It was the last music store in our area. Oh well. I still have Sweets I guess.

I cliked on the thread thinking "woah they're talking about Brics and the end of the petro dollar " ? lol

    Always sad anyway ....

  3. Guyz i'm kinda striglling to make a simple thing : a default mapmping for exemple my OB-X plugin , in studio one i made a controll surface for my NI M32 with 4 pages of 8 knobs , each time i open an instance of OB-x , the mapping corresponding is charged and if i open another instance , it fallows ... (witch is why i use the control surface instead of midi controllers that are link to track sellected and not plugin opened)

Anyway i try to do the same thing in bitrwig

i used the device control panel , created the mapping , but it a fuking mess , it doesn't recall (maybve it s the demo) but basically i  created those 4 pâges , linked them to HW and soft controls ...but seems somehting wrong

as it loses all pages CC linked to HW and then use the 8 first knobs and i have to switch pages on soeftware and always use my foirst 8 row of hw controllers to use them (3 other pages are useless)

How do you guyz approach this , bascially i want a mapping per pluging , using all my pages on my hardware (those are the pâges i created )

I've paid around $105 last time during a BestService sale.

Do you know if the update from X to x+1 is the same as X to X +n

Unless I'm misunderstanding, couldn't you do this with the Arranger Track/Scratch Pad in Studio One?

I wsih i could but all clips a linked to the loop size i dont know how to explain it ...

let s say i play drums , on one bar , in live or bitwig or maschine i can loop it , so loop length for this tracks is 1 bars i then play a guitar part improvisation on 8 bars , i can loop it  on even 7 bars if i wanted , the first drum track will fallow without me having to copy past it 7 times , so basically it is a polyrythmy by tracks , each one can loop its own way/.

In studio one i have to sync all tracks to the big clip and make sure they feed the loop length , the only loop that masters all ...

Good for regular work but for what i neeed nope ...

Here you clearly see 3 clips that have diff length but are all in sync

  6. I finallt installed some max for live packs to get lfo lol ...so basically all the goodies i see are in max for live , so another software that you can have if you buy the capsule ..... lol ...

To answer Bapu s remark.  Yep recorders indeed , but one thing , and i know he will understands as a player , i always find a pain with regualr timeline is the ablility like in sessions , to recorde ideas in no partircular orders and not constraints of structure , like jaming in sessions , and unlike recoring tapes , there you have a tape machine per jam lol , and can play the one on demand instantly

and can drag it to main tape on need lol

This is this workflow that approach sesssion jame ideas that i like ,,, sure old way works , but my main grip was having to have clip length synced .... here we can have polyrythmy in a whole other level , not only in lelemnet whithin a track but=also between tracks or sections !!

    Hi,

Have you tried the Time Shift tool for your use case?

The Bitwig Discord is where Bitwiggers hangout for more questions like this https://discord.gg/zc6S6rza

Yea I found the opposite. I found  the side by side clip launcher to arranger really inspiring over Abletons Mixer style clip launcher. I guess it depends on what you are doing as to which features appeal either way.

Also Bitwig doesnt need retrospective recording baked in, thats the old constrained Ableton way of thinking. Bitwig's modular workflow  lets you put multiple devices in line on the same track and the MIDI chains through so put in something like Birds MIDI cap on a track and you have a much more useful and visual retrospective MIDI record implementation than Live.

I do think retrospective is a great thing , so many time i'm not producing but sound design (in pre prod phase) and i play something that becomes the lead theme for the track !!!

I’m a staunch Bitwig lover, primarily because it’s the most creativity inspiring DAW I know.

    I know i was , like where the f Fleer at ?

Tell me where the phase switch is lol and how you handle two listen buses one for headphoines and one  for mains , with each a diffe calibration plugin !

I'm a pretty simple user but what finally sent me back to Ableton Live recently was the lack of retrospective recording and the overall layout somehow being less creatively inspiring than Live.

Strange , i have live suite (9)  and find it , meh , do you think the V11 brings a lot more enhacmenet , i don't need devices , ect ..

BUT LFO  is something i wanted , i don't find it in live 9 , is it introduced later ?

Bitwig's engine is broken. Take an audio clip, edit it (cut it, slip it, resize it...), bounce it. The audio will not be on time with the original clip, by quite a lot. This is Windows 10, several users have reported it. I reported to Bitwig and they asked for a project file, even though the bug is repeatable. I went back to Reaper and didn't send them anything.

Will have a look at this (editing is quite strange in this , yestruday i tried simply to mute a section of an audio clip , foudn out that i have to define a region frist and split it to be able to Alt+A)  , but i really take it like a scratch pad , giving all the limitation i encouter , post prod will be mostly in S1 as i see it  ....

A quick search found an ancient (2014) post on KVR that said "The audio effect "tool" does this. The phase buttons for left and right are above the amplitude knob." Other hits also mentioned "Tool", so it seems that's the only way.

Yeah this is what i posted prior to your answer ;)

  12. Hi guyz, as a perpetual perfectionnist when it comes to workflow , i wanted something to make my way of finding ideas easier ....

Using my Keystep pro to make pattern (or maschine )  and the having a way to structurate ideas and laucnh different combinaison .

Live , i have it but the interface is just a pain .

Trying bitwig since few days , i'm really liking it , i'm facing stuff that are crazy (no easy scale mode in piano roll , no monitoring option for diff busses , no serious track manager , ect ..) but one thing i'm looking for and didn't find it (it's where i need ya help here) is the phase shift on tracks / clip , i'm layering 2 kiks here via the drum tracks and looking for simple thing as this  .... sure i can play with time of the sammple but sometime i need that on tracks (bass / kik relation ect ..)

    where is it !!!!
