Hi freddy,
QuoteAs a nut for instrumentals -especially if they feature guitars-
I like you already!!
Seriously - thanks a lot for listening and for your comments. I know I do get carried away sometimes, but I didn't think this one was too "overdone" - oh well.
The good thing is - I don't have to answer to anyone - so that's the length that it is

Hi Paul - thanks a lot for listening and for your comments. There is definitely a theme here - but I have to say, it's only on this forum...
-
Thanks a lot for listening Steve!
Yeah - I was going for a more laid back (funky?) feel for the guitars.
I'm certainly not averse to "in your face" though...
-
Thanks for listening Nigel - oh well, I'll need to try to keep things more succinct
-
Hi David - thanks a lot for listening!
I'm looking forward to seeing what MODO 2 has to offer
-
Hi Larry - well, I just leave things in to suit myself - then there's no stress at all 😉
Thanks for listening though - and for your comments.
jack c - Thanks you to you too - for listening

Hi Tom,
Thanks a lot for listening - and for your comments.
I'm not getting any silence at the beginning here - it starts right in at 0:00 😕
I'm probably guilty of going on too long - more often than not 😉

Tom Deering - I didn't think to look to you when I was looking for an amp. It's a bit of a nightmare right now, with supply issues etc - so I concentrated on UK builders. Between supply problems and Brexit - I just thought it was easier to keep it all in the UK
It's a nice amp, and I have a couple of tube preamps I can use through the FX loop - for some variety

Besides liking the song, I'm hearing everything pretty clearly on my cheap work headphones. Love the bass.
Thanks a lot for listening Fred - I'm glad to hear it works on cheap headphones

Nice to hear one from you, John! This one has the right stank in the groove, and I like the unusual and unexpected chord changes. A toe tapper!
If we are voting on the bass, just me but I found the tone had a lot of upper end in it, like a proper Jazz bass does, but that upper midrange growly sparkle was also masking some other funky guitar elements at times.. I do like the bass tone soloed but it's more punk than funk.
Great tune though, good luck with it! Awesome chops.
Hi Phono - thanks a lot for listening.
Interesting comments about the bass - I don't mind if it's "punk", I just like it like that - we're definitely not looking for "authentic" funk ;-)

Nice playing John.
MODO bass is really kicking in this mix. Sounds like the real deal. I liked the way you brought the synths in around the 3:00 mark and changed it up with the drums. That must have taken some work to get right.

Hi Tim - thanks a lot for listening and for your comments. Well, I always dork around with the drums for a long time ;)
I start with MIDI files, but I edit them *a lot* ;)

Hey John,
Good to see you back. Nice funky groove on this one.
What did you get?
Which patch, I'm trying to "bond" with EZBass, but the tone here would work on my tune...
only crit, I'd bring the B3 a bit more forward, just me. 😎

Hey Tom,
Thanks a lot for listening.
I got an amp from Vyse Amps - they're a UK builder - it's hand built, 2 channel, 2 x 6V6 12W - perfect for recording ;)
I really like MODO, I use the P Bass a lot - that's what this one is.
re: the B3, I purposely kept it "barely there" ;)Â Â I just thought it was a good idea ;)

Hi Tom,
Thanks for listening - picking nits is OK, it gives us something to think about.
I'm not really sure what you mean by "washy" hi hats (don't bother trying to explain because these things are hard to do with only words)
but as far as the snare - it seems the more I compress snares, the less I like it. I use some saturation and stuff on them, but I don't really like a lot of reverb either. (my favourite thing on snares right now is the Korneff Audio Pawn Shop Compressor  https://korneffaudio.com/product/pawn-shop-comp-2-0/  )
It's just me...
