Not to be a downer, but any material you use for acoustic treatment should be fire retardent.

Believe me, I did a full evaluation of the material. I had to as part of an acoustic design class at Berklee College of Music. I’m not about to hang something in my studio that is not flame retardant. Like you would have with denim or some foam material. Data sheets attached.

  2. So.. in the build out of my studio in my last home in Austin, I did a lot of research on sustainable and eco-friendly sound treatment and stumbled upon wool. Yes that stuff that suits, slacks, sweaters and coats are made from.

Inch for inch of thickness it has better performance than rock wool or fiberglass in NRC. So I built some acoustic panels using wool as the absorption medium. Works great and is lighter than the aforementioned standbys. Better in performance than hemp, which was the other alternative I was lookin at. And far less heavier than rock wool or Fiberglass.

The other upsides are the cost, it’s relatively low when compared to fiberglass (703) or rock wool. The other is handling, as there is no need for gloves or filter masks. If anything the lanolin in the fibers help dry hands.

There is a downside though. It takes about 2 years to get that sheep smell to dissipate. While it’s a mild odor it sure is noticeable.

I worked at a roller rink for four years called... Aquarius and they played that dang song to start EVERY session!  I can't listen to it anymore!

Craig, I’ll send you a CD of the song as a 4 track with a phase reversed stereo image. It should take care of that problem for you…..

  4. iZotope (Ozone 9 Advanced, Neutron 3, Nectar 3+, and RX 9) and Celemony (Melodyne Studio) have both been major part of my workflow for years. They wouldn’t have been if these weren’t required software at Berklee College of Music. Sometimes I have to be hit over the head before I use something. TBC has helped a lot in getting mixes near reference quickly.

I heard he was not really a drinker or a druggie as per my friend who was his sound man  for three years. He (my friend) said Sammy is shrewd businessman so he probably sold it for pretty penny.

    $95 M USD. A very pretty penny.

You forgot to mention Paul! 🤔

No, not the one you did mention, the other one!  😜

See! There’s another one. Beatles my @$$. Roaches, I tell you! Roaches.

  7. Just how many Beatles are there? John, Paul, George, Ringo, George, Geoff, Stuart, Pete, Brian who helped Pete out the door. I mean there are now more Beatles than there are roaches! When is this going to end?!

  8. I was in Wal-Mart one day, buying a large bag of Purina for our dog. While I was in line, to check out, a woman behind me asked if I had a dog… Duh!

I was feeling a bit crabby, so on impulse I told her, “No, I’m starting ‘The Purina Diet’ again… although I probably shouldn’t, because I ended up in the hospital last time… but I did lose 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care unit with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IV’s in both arms.”

Her eyes about bugged out of her head.

I went on and on with the bogus diet story and she was totally believing it. I told her… “It’s an easy, inexpensive diet… and the way it works is to load your pockets or purse with Purina nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry. The package said the food is nutritionally complete, so I was going to try it again.

”

I have to mention here that practically everyone in the line was by now totally enthralled with my story, particularly a tall guy standing behind her.

Horrified, she asked if something in the dog food had poisoned me and was that why I ended up in the hospital.

I said, “No… I was just sitting in the street, licking my butt, when a car hit me.”

I thought the tall guy was going to have to be carried out the door.
