  1. Outstanding!  An upbeat song with a twist.  I like the jazzy trumpet and arrangement.  All in all, a very clever and toe-tapping song that brings a smile to my face.

  2. Now here's a voice with hair!  I love this, Jesse!  The way you panned this fills my monitors with a hypnotic groove that holds my attention from beginning to end.  Your lyrics are right on.  Next!

  3. I'm so glad that I caught up with this song!  It's awesome from beginning to end.  This is a style of music that I would like to explore, but after this song, I'd be smart to leave it to the experts ;)

  4. Your production skills have grown immensely since I've been listening to you!  This sounds huge on my speakers.  You're off to a good start.

  5. Wow!  This is the song that I've been waiting for, Barry.  I can hear every road trip in your voice.  The mix is great!  Your voice sounds fabulous in this song, and it conveys the lyrics perfectly.  Major league!

  6. Sometimes I'll hear a cover of a song that I know well, and it's like the first time I ever heard the song.  That's the case here.  You nailed this song, and in spite of it being close to the original, it's fresh!  I, too, look forward to your next song.

  7. This is one of my all time favorite songs, and you did it justice.  It has a retro vibe that fits with this song, including the recreation of an 80's beat box.  Elizabeth's voice never sounded better!  May the force be with you!!

  9. In many audio converters, you can mute the outputs to the speakers in the UI; this shouldn't affect the headphone output in most converters.  ASIO has nothing to do with this, as I use ASIO.  Also, if your computer is plugged into any kind of mixer, this can be done manually on the mixer, typically.

  10. From the atmospheric piano at the beginning to the end, this was a joyride!  As usual, your lyrics evoke images in my mind, and I feel like I know this person.  Your reverb is very nice and makes your voice sound very spacious.  Well done, mate!  Can't wait for the next song :)

  11. Fantastic song, John!  The arrangement is very sophisticated, and your vocal was right there on the money.  Yes, your bass track is way cool, though I wonder if some of your lines could be an octave lower for great frequency range.  It might ruin the vibe, but I'm just curious.  Anyway, chalk another hit up.

I have to agree about the vocal treatment. Should be a touch more spacey at the start, maybe a bit more reverb to match the music.

Hey Lynn, absolutely fantastic work you’ve done here! Very creative songwriting, and your (and Mark’s) performance are top notch. Production really fits too, well executed, as has been said sounds quite “Beatle-esque “.  Kind of reminds me of Cheap Trick’s Heaven Tonight also (and that one reminds me of the Beatles, lol!). The only comment I might make is the vocals struck me as sitting too forward in the mix. Could be you were trying to make them more in your face, it just struck me with the kind of trippy, psychedelic mix you have going on that the more stark vocal kind of stood out too much. You do have the cool delay effect going on, maybe a reverb effect to push it back and blend it in a bit? Just a thought. Again, great work!

Barry and Ross, I'll address  your comments together, as they both are related to my vocal treatment.  You both may be on to something.  My goal was to not do the obvious:  after experimenting with various reverbs and delays, I thought that a drier vox on the verses would lift the lyrics better.  The vocal does get wetter as the song goes along, but it is fairly dry in the beginning.  This is one of those artistic decisions that I never know is correct or not until somebody listens and comments.  I appreciate your time and detailed comments!  I may wake up tomorrow and fully agree with you both.

Btw, there used to be a guy named Mark Andes that played bass in Spirit - coincidence?
