I have a Sterling Audio ST55 condenser mic.  It has two switches on it.  One is 0db or -10db and the other has a flat line and a line that starts as an upward curve.

For acoustic guitar, vocals, etc how should these two be set?  I'm not really sure what they are for.

I have a Behringer UM2.  The only output knob is for the headphones so I don't think it will do anything to the monitors.

I was hoping there was a setting on the song or track that would stop playback during recording.

Two questions.  I have tried to figure this out and I'm sure it's simple but I cannot for the life of me get it right.

1. When I'm recording I don't want sound coming out of my monitors but just the headphone plugged into my interface.  How do I do this?  I keep having to use the volume knob on the back of my monitors and I know that can't be right.
2. When I'm recording myself I only need one set of headphones.  However, when I'm recording someone else I'd like a pair for me as well so I can hear them against the mix.  My interface only has one headphone jack.  How do I do this?  Do I just get a splitter?

I appreciate the advice.  How do you do a tap vs a slap?  Also, what beats?

I'm trying to program a train beat with the included SI-Drums kit.  I'm reading drum tab, but....I'm not a drummer and I don't think I'm doing it correctly.

What I want is to simulate a simple country train beat.  The ones I'm seeing seem to indicate a 16th note snare beat but that doesn't work.  Can anyone tell me how to map out a simple drum beat for one measure?  I can take it from there.

I'd love to be able to simulate brushes as well but not sure I can.

A buddy of mine recorded a track at 100bpm but is playing like it's 200bpm, basically he double-timed it.  I want to convert this to a 190 bpm track that I can insert and use as a scratch track.
