  1. Updated Launch Pad see OP for link New features - save/restore "Shared Utilities" CW130Auto.dll
  2. If you have Platinum, you have an SSO account. If you cannot remember your password, contact support@cakewalk.com. They can help you re-gain access to your account. There are several threads about installing on new machines such as There is a clean uninstall for CbB documented in a couple of threads but it is not necessary if CbB was installed before SONAR. Just uninstall CbB using BandLab Assistant, run the SONAR installer(s) then re-install CbB.
  3. SONAR installers are the same whether on disk or downloaded. Installers from X3 and older have an advanced install option to select plug-ins to install. Since CbB is 64bit, select the 64bit option on the SONAR installer. IIRC, this option happens before the basic/advanced install option. SONAR Platinum installers are different. Some of them require SONAR Platinum be installed to run. The current recommendation from BandLab is install all of Platinum before CbB. If you want V-Vocal, it requires a minimal installation of X2 Producer or older. This should be done before installing Platinum. Personally, I stopped with an advanced install of X1 Producer Expanded. If you want the Lexicon Pantheon you will need an advanced install of 8.5 Producer. How far back one restores depends on the plug-ins used by the projects to be opened. That said, the sequence of installs does not matter except when actually installing the DAW, advanced installs to get plug-ins can happen any time. When trying to open very old projects made with 32bit DX plug-in will require a 32bit version of SONAR. This may happen any time because it does not affect CbB.
  4. I believe you are thinking of "Directory Junctions" There is a command line tool in Windows called mklink.exe to do this. To create a junction Move the folder to the new location Open a command window (it usually helps run the command window as administrator) and type mklink /j [old folder location] [new folder location] For example, to move C:\Cakewalk Content to E: after moving the folder from C to E issue the command mklink /j "c:\cakewalk content" "e:\cakewalk content" Of course, the folder could be named anything on E: There are lengthy discussions about this on the old forum using Google search for site:forum.cakewalk.com mklink
  5. Or add the new synth with just its audio track(s) and route the existing MIDI track(s) to the new synth. This is most easily done with insert methods that use the Insert Soft Synth Options dialog which is every method mentioned here except the Add Track menu. The Insert Soft Synth Options dialog is also used when dragging a synth from the plug-in browser.
  6. Another review of the Omnipressor https://www.harmonycentral.com/forums/topic/1907695-eventide-anthology-x-effects-plug-in-suite/page/2/?tab=comments#comment-30310092
  7. Either instrument or MIDI track would work because both use MIDI data but there must be at least one or the other in the track view or the other views are disabled.

For years, Noel has recommended running the scanner from preferences NOT the plug-in manager. It might be a good idea to get in the habit of using preferences whenever possible and restricting use of the plug-in manager only when necessary such as exclude list and plug-in layout management. My experiences suggest always activating iLok plug-ins before their initial scan regardless of the manufacturer. Failing to do so can result in the plug-ins being banished to the exclude list.
  9. While waiting for this change (or until the options become more familiar) consider using the tools module in the Control Bar. Right-clicking does not collapse the tools module.
  10. Data exchange between BandLab and CbB is a work in progress. AFAIK, there is no simple feature matrix comparing the two DAWs. Both have overview pages. Here is the one for BandLab and here is the one for CbB. CbB includes a drum synth called SI-Drums. The plug-ins bundled with the CbB are detailed here. In addition to what is bundled with the DAW, CbB supports DX, VST2/3 plug-ins made by 3rd parties. There are hundreds of free and commercial plug-ins which run in CbB.
  11. As mentioned above, the Chrome-based DAW called BandLab is a different product. Cakewalk by BandLab is a free standing program that only runs on Windows. It is available for download here. The documentation about this DAW is here. The installation instruction are here (follow the install using BandLab Assistant method).
  12. Feature requests go in the Feedback Loop area of this forum To avoid overwriting clips select a different recording mode.
  13. There is no concept of a blank MIDI clip. CbB creates MIDI clips based on the data in the track.
  14. There are several MIDI editors: the event list view, the inline PRV in the track view (a.k.a arranger), the piano roll view, the step sequencer view and the staff view.
  15. That would be my guess too based on and @Mark Shirra's other threads. While I am sure there are some here that use both programs and there is some overlap given they are both DAWs, the OP needs to know this forum was created for Cakewalk by BandLab. a Windows program, and not the Chrome-based DAW called BandLab.
  16. VC64 is a 32bit plug-in last bundled with SONAR X2. To add old SONAR plug-ins run the SONAR installer, select the 64bit option then selected the advanced install option and select the plug-ins to install.

Best to disable the MS GS Wavetable synth in preferences. It appears there is no audio in the project. If this is the case you could Save the project as a MIDI file. Then open the MIDI file. If no MIDI output devices are selected in preferences, CbB will automatically add the TTS-1 softsynth plug-in and audio tracks need for the project. In the future use soft synths for MIDI as mentioned the previous post. BTW, there is no need to freeze tracks to export an mp3. The problem is the project has no audio to export. The audio is coming from an external device.
  18. Drum maps used in a project are stored in the project. Drum map presets are loaded from the path in preferences.
  19. Usually when the drop downs are not populated, the files did not get installed properly. This may be corrected by holding the SHIFT key when starting CbB. AFAIK, all the project templates have three buses set up: a master bus a metronome bus a preview bus May be easier to start new projects by using one of the bundled templates until you get comfortable using the DAW.
  20. If this is related to the MIDI device, the other thread did not mention checking the MIDI driver mode This could be an issue if the OP uses Win10.
  21. One big change from X1 to CbB when running on Win10 is an additional MIDI driver mode. Set MIDI driver mode to MME (the only mode supported by X1).

    IDF's

There are a couple of copies of Master.ins in a CbB/SONAR install but the version used by the program is in the same folder as Aud.ini, Cakewalk.ini and TTSSEQ.ini (often referred to as the user directory). There is a separate user directory for CbB and each version of SONAR in %appdata%\Cakewalk.
