I have SpectraLayers Pro 6 and it did not look for or ask for a previous version.

I’m only speculating. I had said

“I’d say it checks during installation........“

i wasn’t asked for details of an earlier purchase or serial number. My reasoning is that I can’t imagine Steinberg allowing you to get away with an illegitimate upgrade if your entitlement wasn’t checked somehow. Even if only in the background during installation.

I’d be interested in knowing, if anyone was able to install the upgrade without a previous version already installed.

MUDGEL: When you purchased SpectraLayers Pro 6, did you have to provide your serial number for the previous version (v1-4) as part of the order process?

No I didn’t. Just selected upgrade as my version. I’d say it checks during installation for a previous version.

  3. Don’t forget that Cakewalk has been working with ARA since the standard was created. In fact they were involved with Celemony and Presonus during the initial development.

Cubase hasn’t been involved with ARA that long and Spectral layers is only one of a very few ARA compatible plugins.

as always you get more of Spectral Layers by opening up your audio directly in the standalone program.

  4. If you have V1, 2, 3 or 4 then the upgrade to 6 at the Steinberg shop is for me (I have V4) in Australia only AUD$149

if you have the above and want to upgrade at Magix to V5 (their last version) then for me that would be AUD$249 + AUD$75 for the V5 to 6 upgrade from Steinberg.

Guess which update I took. Fancy a Steinberg update being the cheaper option.

  5. Haven’t been around much as recovery from my bypass op has taken much longer than anticipated. I had been fainting and the drs were unable to find out why until just last week. I had another fainting episode whilst being monitored.

I’ve been having ventricular pauses that last for 4 or more seconds. On Monday I had a pacemaker implanted and i feel like a new man. Seems not only the plumbing (coronary arteries) was stuffed but the electrical system was stuffed as well.

i feel like I haven’t felt in decades. Still limited by my back problems but i can finally move without gasping for air and feeling like my heart (even after the bypass) was going to bust out of my chest.

Ahh. Feels good to feel good.

  6. I started learning lap steel guitar when I was 8 years old. Had to walk about 3 miles to a scout hall where the classes were held. The class was contracted for 83 lessons over 3 years. In all that time I only learned Aloha Oe and the Bonanza theme. When I was 12 I started playing trombone in high school.  And everything else I could get my hands on like sax, guitar acoustic and electric.

    Its all history.

  7. More DAWs than I literally know what to do with now, a legacy from when I was working and had them all for project compatibility and convenience.

CbB, Cubase and Studio One are the only ones I update.

CbB is the only one I was using regularly. Haven’t done any music for ages; been sick.
