  1. I have uploaded the mastered version in cakewalk, together with a FLAC format reference track I used from a well known artist. It doesn't clip. Both songs have a maximum peak of -0.0 dbs I have used the youlean meter plugin, probably the same you are using. Just upload whatever artist song and you will see that every bloody song is in red but still below 0dbs so it's normal And by the way, as you can see comparing the mix with the master, there is a HUGE difference and improvement. so LANDR AI does quite good even without ears, maybe not the same level as a mastering engineer, but definitely good enough, it also depends from the mix.
  2. Hi Guys, I have cancelled some tracks from my song and now when I export the song in WAV, even if it finishes at 3 minutes, the WAV file last 5 minutes. How do I tell Cakewalk that I want my song to END at a specific time?
  3. This is the mix (Not Mastered) https://drive.google.com/file/d/12l7wh6Nrken01P-DP8AdZ-PzrxO_Yn2p/view?usp=sharing So you can compare it with the LANDR one, this is exactly what I fed to LANDR.
  4. I used the reference track option from LANDR, you drop your track, then a reference track and it applies the same EQ to your track, and boom, done. Of course you have to feed him with a good mix. If the final master doesn't sound good to you you can try uploading different reference tracks that you like, then listen to the different veersions and compare.
  5. As I said I'm not an expert, but i cut the high frequencies at mix level, everything over 8k hertz, at mix level nothing is clipping, there might be some peaks in some guitar tracks at maximun -2dbs , what you are saying is that the Master track is clipping, so speaking about the overall volume of the Master which is too high? To me when I listen to some of my reference album tracks, the volume is exactly the same. It might be possible though that LANDR AI algorithm pushed the high end too much because I gave him a reference track. Now I have changed the mastering, seems better to me, what do you think? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-YJaSKiP_fOO8JcKO_94QDOqAduLt1lJ/view?usp=sharing
  6. How does it sound to you overall?
  7. LANDR is online mastering tool that is automatic, you just drop your track and it's mastered, I didn't buy the full version now but I will, so I can master in WAV. LANDR works great, I used a reference track from Envy for the master. I'm recording at home, so can't be *****ed hiring a mastering engeneer. ANyway, overall how it sounds to you? I'm not that much of an expert
  8. Hi Guys I have finished my "home" mix and did a Master with LANDR (online tool for mastering) I have noticed that when I listen to the track from my headphones it seems quite ok, then when I listen it from the car I can hear a bit too much High Frequencies that are somehow disturbing, comparing it with other songs from some similar artist. The high frrquencies come from the guitars, do you usually Low Pass Filter (cut highs) the guitars? If yes how much roughly? Could someone be very kind to have a listen and tell me if the track is very high in frequencies? or if there is any disturbing frequency on the guitars? or too muddy? I have cut some mids around 700 hertz already, or even if the mix is too wide? Thanks Here's the track, please listen to the last distorted part. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gWxTEkOuU4A6LNvrSHBLZu-K_-MIy8aF/view?usp=sharing
  9. Yea that's cool, maybe I can find a work around, my THU plugin amp sim in cakewalk takes the guitar in mono and has some options to spit it out in stereo, maybe I can try like that and put a stereo widener only on the delay track
  10. The pedal has 2 outputs A(Mono) + B, but my audio interface has just one input for guitar jack 😕 That's right usually the delay effects are much better in stereo right? mmm so at this point I'm F****? Are you sure you cannot go with one jack output from pedal to the audio device and then in the DAW create a stereo track? won't that convert to stereo?
  11. I see. thanks. Actually I managed to put my bass in mono. Regarding the kick, I did the drums in MIDI with a plugin, so they are programmed drums, the plugin is very very good, and it's coming out in stereo, I didn't redirect the MIDI drum parts to different outputs, for simplicity, the drums output is just one Track (I did the mix inside the plugin), so all drum track is in stereo, also the kick. But to me sound pretty fine to be honest, the kick is stereo but dead center. For the guitars, same I'm using a plugin amp sims which most of the times (depending from the effects you use) it goes out in stereo as well, but again to me sounds fine, but I'm not a mixing engineer, I'm just self learner.
  12. anyway here's my delay pedal specs, I think should be fine also without the reamp box? Nominal Input Level INPUT A/MONO, B: -10 dBu Maximum Input Level INPUT A/MONO, B: +7 dBu Input Impedance INPUT A/MONO, B: 2 M ohm Nominal Output Level OUTPUT A/MONO, B: -10 dBu Maximum Output Level OUTPUT A/MONO, B: +7 dBu Output Impedance OUTPUT A/MONO, B: 1 k ohms Recommended Load Impedance OUTPUT A/MONO, B: 10 k ohms or greater
  13. Great thanks! I checked some of these on amazon and some of them are actually quite cheap, likt these ones, not sure about the quality though but should be fine I suppose https://www.amazon.it/Stagg-canale-passive-interruttore-Stereo/dp/B0039OVVC0/ref=sr_1_14?__mk_it_IT=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&dchild=1&keywords=di+box&qid=1619441393&sr=8-14 https://www.amazon.it/Monacor-24-1140-Direct-Box-DIB-100/dp/B000WWHOLO/ref=sr_1_7?__mk_it_IT=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&dchild=1&keywords=di+box&qid=1619441393&sr=8-7
  14. Thanks for the advice! but I don't have neither one of these tools (ABY or DI box). Without using one of these, what's the right solution? I'm not sure how should I connect the Pedal, from the pedal MIDI output to the MIDI input of the audio device? or just with guitar cable from the pedal normal output to the audio device input? I mean should I use MIDI or not?
  15. Hi Nola, no I'm not the same Marcello, anyway I found out that the amp sim plugin I'm using most of the times it goes in stereo as an output, and is correct, it has some settings you can put in mono though, such as the bass should be mono. I'm still not sure what's the difference between a bass in mono or in stereo panned center, to me it sounds exactly the same, so I don't understand when people say the bass and kick should be mono, but isn't stereo panned center the freaking same?
  16. Hi there! I have just purchased a really cool delay pedal from BOSS for my guitar. Since I really love the sounds, I'm wondering how can I use it with recording in cakewalk. It has a MIDI output, but I have never used it I have no idea. I also have some doubts, I'm basically recording my guitar tracks with some amp simulator plugin which has also digital effects included, despite this I would love to use my external pedal as effect, in this case I suppose it will be placed at the beginning of the effect chain (while usually the delay is at the end of the chain, even after the amp) since the signal will go to the pedal first, then external audio device then PC with amp sim and other effects, will this be bad in terms of 'sound quality'? Anyone knows how do I record with an external pedal? SHould I actually use MIDI output of the pedal or simply go to the external audio device with the simple jack from the pedal?
  17. MMM ok, what do you mean with noise exactly? What should be noisy in 16 bits?
  18. Damn it! Is it a big difference in audio quality between 16 and 24 bits?
  19. Check out the input output in Kontakt and those in the Midi Track and in the audio track
  20. Hi there! I have a steinberg UR12 audio interface which supports 24 bit, but as an idiot I basically recorded all my songs in Cakewalk with the Audio Driver Bit Depth at 16 bits. Now I'm wondering if I change that to 24 bits after I recorded everything, will it work for the overall audio quality? Or is something you need to set before recording?
  21. Ok thanks! so it won't affect the file audio quality but maybe only when you listen to the mix via Cakewalk correct?
  22. I have some powerful marshall headphones paid 100 euros, I also have the audio interface of course but sometimes I don't want to bring it around and I would like to work on my mix (already recorded) directly with headphones.
  23. It works! Great! But is what Michael saying true? Will the audio quality be affected if I use MME directly with headphones instead of connecting to the external audio device? I mean not for recording of course, just to work on the mix then maybe I'd export the whole mix to a WAV file, would this WAV file sound badly compared with one exported using an audio card?
