  1. Hi guys, I have mixed a song I did at home, unfortunately I don't have a proper studio with a proper audio system, I'm mixing with my Marshall monitors headphones and some pretty powerful sony bluetooth speakers, I know I should buy something decent and bla bla bla, I'm aware, but for the moment how these sound to you? I did a mix, then I used LANDR AI mastering platform online where you upload your mix and spits out a master, easy pisy, again I know I should send it to a mastering engineer and bla bla bla, but this stuff I'm doing is pretty DYI, I don't pretend to have a professional release but I just want it good enough. I have two mastered versions here, which one sounds better to you? to me the second one, is much wider, even though someone told me is too harsh and compressed? is it true? The guitars are distorted to hell, I know and I like it like that cause is Rock, but I still can't tell the difference from normal guitar distortion to "HOT" to be honest, I'm quite a newbie. Please give your honest opinion thanks 1st master https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LK1jBQ2v5Lus0waq9tEwHaNrNQySg8H-/view?usp=sharing 2nd master https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LK1jBQ2v5Lus0waq9tEwHaNrNQySg8H-/view?usp=sharing
  2. Are you using the youlean meter? Speaking about the mix or the mastered version? Because the mix should be at -6db to leave room for the master. The master should not go over 0 dbs, as far as I can see from the meter the master doesn’t go over that, I compared it with a song from Mogwai I downloaded in flac and the volume is the same, the meter is pretty much the same. so can it be that is not clipping but maybe guitars are too harsh? Dunno too much high end maybe or compression? Are you sure you are not confusing guitar distortion like big muff pedal kinda, with Hot (clipping)?
  3. What do you mean with too many busy drums? Drums are fine, probably the genre is not your cup of tea? The drums sounds to me is the one I'm most satisfied with, I'm not sure about the guitars, if in the master are too compressed? once you drop the mix in LANDR the algorithm applies some AI EQ, I used a reference track from Mogwai, so I think LANDR tried to apply the same EQ, but maybe in doing that it compressed the guitars? are they too harsh? The one at 349 is a guitar with big muff pedal, is supposed to be like that, again not sure if you are confident with the genre.
  4. So The acoustic guitar is intentionally distorted a bit cause I like it that way, otherwise would sound too thin, and weak personal taste. What you are saying is that the solo guitar part at the beginning is too quiet (in volume) compared to the part where the band starts? I tried to give some dynamics there, maybe too much? About the frequencies, did you check the mix or the master? Is the master too compressed compared to the mix? The mix to me sounds a bit muddier than the master, I agree with Bayan though tthat the master might be too bright? or maybe is just too compressed by LANDR?
  5. hi guys! i really need an opinion from some expert on my mix cause I’m mixing at home with headphones on my own and I don’t have external feedbacks on my work. I’m quite a newbie and this is my song that I did with programmed drums and guitars amp sims. I then used LANDR AI automatic mastering platform online, you just drop your song and comes out the mastered version, I used a reference track from Mogwai since I play post rock stuff. do you think the mix version is better than the master? Someone from a forum told me this, the master is too compressed and too much in you face, also the drums disappear in the master. He also claims that is confusing and I should EQ more to make space for different instrument frequencies. also around minute 4, the instruments are a bit out of time. what do you think? Is he right? Do you confirm all these things? I don’t pretend to have a professional mix cause I’m doing everything at home, but I just want it good enough. 7. MM doesn't seem to work, I drop the song nothing happens. Mmmm I think LANDR is probably much better
  8. What do you think about the result? this is my mastered track Consider I recorded everything at home with plugins. https://drive.google.com/file/d/194c9NPxosIj_21e1dYmQgqLrEC0VVWPY/view?usp=sharing
  9. ANYONE use LANDR AI for Mastering? What's your opinion?
  10. I have uploaded the mastered version in cakewalk, together with a FLAC format reference track I used from a well known artist. It doesn't clip. Both songs have a maximum peak of -0.0 dbs I have used the youlean meter plugin, probably the same you are using. Just upload whatever artist song and you will see that every bloody song is in red but still below 0dbs so it's normal And by the way, as you can see comparing the mix with the master, there is a HUGE difference and improvement. so LANDR AI does quite good even without ears, maybe not the same level as a mastering engineer, but definitely good enough, it also depends from the mix.
  11. Hi Guys, I have cancelled some tracks from my song and now when I export the song in WAV, even if it finishes at 3 minutes, the WAV file last 5 minutes. How do I tell Cakewalk that I want my song to END at a specific time?
  12. This is the mix (Not Mastered) https://drive.google.com/file/d/12l7wh6Nrken01P-DP8AdZ-PzrxO_Yn2p/view?usp=sharing So you can compare it with the LANDR one, this is exactly what I fed to LANDR.
  13. I used the reference track option from LANDR, you drop your track, then a reference track and it applies the same EQ to your track, and boom, done. Of course you have to feed him with a good mix. If the final master doesn't sound good to you you can try uploading different reference tracks that you like, then listen to the different veersions and compare.
  14. As I said I'm not an expert, but i cut the high frequencies at mix level, everything over 8k hertz, at mix level nothing is clipping, there might be some peaks in some guitar tracks at maximun -2dbs , what you are saying is that the Master track is clipping, so speaking about the overall volume of the Master which is too high? To me when I listen to some of my reference album tracks, the volume is exactly the same. It might be possible though that LANDR AI algorithm pushed the high end too much because I gave him a reference track. Now I have changed the mastering, seems better to me, what do you think? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-YJaSKiP_fOO8JcKO_94QDOqAduLt1lJ/view?usp=sharing
  15. How does it sound to you overall?
  16. LANDR is online mastering tool that is automatic, you just drop your track and it's mastered, I didn't buy the full version now but I will, so I can master in WAV. LANDR works great, I used a reference track from Envy for the master. I'm recording at home, so can't be *****ed hiring a mastering engeneer. ANyway, overall how it sounds to you? I'm not that much of an expert
  17. Hi Guys I have finished my "home" mix and did a Master with LANDR (online tool for mastering) I have noticed that when I listen to the track from my headphones it seems quite ok, then when I listen it from the car I can hear a bit too much High Frequencies that are somehow disturbing, comparing it with other songs from some similar artist. The high frrquencies come from the guitars, do you usually Low Pass Filter (cut highs) the guitars? If yes how much roughly? Could someone be very kind to have a listen and tell me if the track is very high in frequencies? or if there is any disturbing frequency on the guitars? or too muddy? I have cut some mids around 700 hertz already, or even if the mix is too wide? Thanks Here's the track, please listen to the last distorted part. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gWxTEkOuU4A6LNvrSHBLZu-K_-MIy8aF/view?usp=sharing
  18. Yea that's cool, maybe I can find a work around, my THU plugin amp sim in cakewalk takes the guitar in mono and has some options to spit it out in stereo, maybe I can try like that and put a stereo widener only on the delay track
  19. The pedal has 2 outputs A(Mono) + B, but my audio interface has just one input for guitar jack 😕 That's right usually the delay effects are much better in stereo right? mmm so at this point I'm F****? Are you sure you cannot go with one jack output from pedal to the audio device and then in the DAW create a stereo track? won't that convert to stereo?
  20. I see. thanks. Actually I managed to put my bass in mono. Regarding the kick, I did the drums in MIDI with a plugin, so they are programmed drums, the plugin is very very good, and it's coming out in stereo, I didn't redirect the MIDI drum parts to different outputs, for simplicity, the drums output is just one Track (I did the mix inside the plugin), so all drum track is in stereo, also the kick. But to me sound pretty fine to be honest, the kick is stereo but dead center. For the guitars, same I'm using a plugin amp sims which most of the times (depending from the effects you use) it goes out in stereo as well, but again to me sounds fine, but I'm not a mixing engineer, I'm just self learner.
  21. anyway here's my delay pedal specs, I think should be fine also without the reamp box? Nominal Input Level INPUT A/MONO, B: -10 dBu Maximum Input Level INPUT A/MONO, B: +7 dBu Input Impedance INPUT A/MONO, B: 2 M ohm Nominal Output Level OUTPUT A/MONO, B: -10 dBu Maximum Output Level OUTPUT A/MONO, B: +7 dBu Output Impedance OUTPUT A/MONO, B: 1 k ohms Recommended Load Impedance OUTPUT A/MONO, B: 10 k ohms or greater
  22. Great thanks! I checked some of these on amazon and some of them are actually quite cheap, likt these ones, not sure about the quality though but should be fine I suppose https://www.amazon.it/Stagg-canale-passive-interruttore-Stereo/dp/B0039OVVC0/ref=sr_1_14?__mk_it_IT=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&dchild=1&keywords=di+box&qid=1619441393&sr=8-14 https://www.amazon.it/Monacor-24-1140-Direct-Box-DIB-100/dp/B000WWHOLO/ref=sr_1_7?__mk_it_IT=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&dchild=1&keywords=di+box&qid=1619441393&sr=8-7
