  1. Me again..

i have a song im working on that has a drumloop that i like

but has a weak kik drum so i have set up another track and set up another kik that works well together

    with the loop kik

so know i have the loop with weak kik (still very audible) in conjunction with this other kik

now it sounds punchy..but i did have to line up the new kik coz the loop kiks werent always on the beat

some a few ticks  ahead/behind....OK painstakingly done all that

Now i discover that theres the remnant of a Hi Hat on the subsidiary kik track which is upsetting

    the groove.

i have also discovered that i can shorten this clip and remove the remnant but

coz the kiks are not uniform in placement will take me ages to

    modify each one by hand..

OK so how do i tell cakewalk to make every clip on  my kik track to be a specified length (thus removing the remnant HiHat)

    Thanks for reading...

  2. Thanks Azslow.....

connecting the X tender with Mackie XT is the missing peice of the puzzle.

i was using the standard Mackie...big problem.

so just to get this right...do i initially connect both units

to seperate USB ports on my computer and setup? And then piggy back from X Touch...

Or do piggy back them from the XTouch like the setup guide (yeah right) says.

Or are they always on seperate USB?

    Thanks for the help

  3. ok it seems Cake will create a new ctrlsurface file...and

now everything is back to the way it was.( i think...i hope)

problem now is getting the X Tender to connect to Cake...

i have made  a copy of my current working  ctrlsurface file

so i can replace it if this happens again.

so my ne w question is just that

how connect  xtender to x touch to cakewalk

i think thats a new thread

    thanks all

  4. Hi all

Up until 90 min ago cake was running perfect

    Intel I7

    SSD / RME UFX / Behringer X touch.....all perfect

until i tried to connect a Behringer  X touch Extender..(xtra 8 motorized faders)

i set up what i thought was a new controller and  i couldnt get it working

so i closed cake to try again later..later came but cake just boots to the splash screen

    and crashs to the desktop..

im fairly computer literate so i tried a few things.

Boot win 10 into safe mode...nada

Shift control boot up cake ...nada

    rename AUD ini file...nada

    update cake to latest ..nada

i dont want to uninstall /reinstall coz ive got so many customizations

what can i do..is there a file i can go to and remove the  new x tender settings i made

as that is ,i believe.the, cause of this problem.

Having said that cake has never once given me a problem its proven to be very robust

hence my surprise with this .

    thanks

PS I have an old Sonar platinum on my computer and it opens and works fine

  5. Hi all ..is there a way to compare a mix

    e.g.

with the bass at one level with a mix of the

same song with the bass down. without saving and reloading both of them.

What if i want to compare 4 different bass levels or different  EQ

    soemthing like screensets for mixes

    Thanks

  6. thanks for that..

    seems cumbersome..

do you mean eg if i want to record a part with

three different sounds from the same synth

i have to 1. insert audio track 2 insert synth 3 record

then do this all over again?

isnt there a way to direct the output of the synth

to a track of my choosing? that way i dont have to keep inserting the synth.

does the aux track feature play into this at all?

    thanks

  7. yep can do that ...

the way you are suggesting is to take trax that dont really need to be put in busses

    1x bass 1 x acoustic guitar 1x electric guitar 1x voc

which are already on separate trax

just so i can have the benefit of being able to solo  a buss and other random trax

call me intuitive, but it doesnt make sense to me from a work flow POV

  8. Thanks for the replies..

What i am trying to do is simple..

I have 6 drum trax routed to a bus which has comp, EQ etc

I want to solo one single bass track which i normally do not route

to a bus and the aforementioned drum bus ..cant do it.

all the methods suggested group solo etc...do not include the fx included on the drum bus.

but the way i am getting around it is using AUX tracks..

these seem to have (afaik)   all the benefits of bus es

    and none of the drawbacks...

    what am i missing here?
