the same thing happened to me

    Hello Caleb,

Disabling the antivirus did not work but uninstalling it did the trick :) I don't know why. Maybe I should have disabled the antivirus and then restarted the Windows in order for the antivirus to become inactive? Could be..

    I hope it helps.

You are most of the way there with the drum map.

Use the virtual controller as the input and the drum map as the output on a MIDI track. Enable input echo on the track.

It may be necessary to modify the drum map to use the note range of the virtual controller. IOW in addition to the channels in the drum map, there may need to be some changes to the note in/out columns so that the virtual controller operates in the range needed by the synth.

Thanks again! I finally managed to do it by downloading unofficial firmware by Pajen for Volca Sample.

MIDI channel is a property of MIDI notes. MIDI channel may be set for each MIDI note just like pitch and velocity.

Cakewalk can force the MIDI channel per-track by setting the MIDI channel drop down in the track.

If the channel is not set on the track the notes are sent with whatever channel value is in the notes.

Thank you, Scook, as always with your helpful input.

I think I somehow managed to do different MIDI channels on different tracks.

Now the issue is, I have to click on specific track first to get the sound from specific MIDI channel.

Is it possible to set it up in a way where I can get different sounds/steps from Volca (output) when I press different keys on my computer keyboard (input)?

I even created a drum map but it only works with step sequencer and piano roll.

  4. Hello

I have Volca Sample connected via USB MIDI Interface (midilink mini - MIDI to USB cable) to Cakewalk.

However, I am only able to trigger one step/note from my Volca.

I read somewhere that  "The Volca Sample uses channels of MIDI: one for each of the ten parts."

Does anybody know how I can trigger all of the steps/notes from the Sample?

Thank you very much in advance!

    Cheers,

  5. Heyo,

I have Volca Sample connected via USB MIDI Interface (midilink mini - MIDI to USB cable) to Cakewalk.

I selected MIDI Input and Output Devices to the Interface from the Preferences.

I open MIDI track, select the Interface as Output and Virtual Controller (computer keyboard) as Input.

When I press different keys on my keyboard I can only get one sound/step per MIDI track from my Volca.

Is it possible to set it up in a way where I can get different sounds/steps from Volca (output) when I press different keys on my computer keyboard (input)?

OS: Windows 10 64-bit (latest version)

Thank you very much in advance!

What didn't work, the Bandlab download from my link (which I just retested and it works from here) , or the installation from a successful download.

What version of Windows are you running.  Have you installed all the latest patches - including the latest Vdist C++ runtimes

The latest Vdist C++ runtimes are downloaded from here:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads

Hare you tried temporarily disabling your antivirus program

Have you tried running Bandlab installer as admin?

If you cannot log on , then the sounds like you have systemic PC issues (unrelated to Bandlab Assistant)

Sounds like you will need someone to physically visit to help troubleshoot your PC issue that is preventing Bandlab Assistant from working properly.  (Even if Bandlab Assistant is the only program you're having issues with)

Download and installation worked.  "Log In" does not work.  It just does the loading thing like in the image above and then does nothing.

I am running Windows 10 64 and I have the latest Vdist C ++ runtimes.

I tried disabling antivirus as well.

I tried running BandLab installer as admin too.

I tried starting BandLab as admin nothing happened.

You are right it must be something with PC even though everything besides BandLab seems to work fine.

I will try to restore the system to earlier point and see how it helps.

    Thank you again,

Are you logging of with your Cakewalk credentials (recommended) or your Facebook / Google  credentials

Try uninstalling Bandlab Assistant then downloading from here and reinstalling - even if you do have the latest version (The latest version of Bandlab Assistant 6.00)

    https://www.bandlab.com/download/assistant/windows

    Hi Promidi,

    Thank you for your input.

I tried uninstalling and then downloading and reinstalling again (from the link that you provided) but it did not work.

' Are you logging of with your Cakewalk credentials (recommended) ' --> it does not even let me to that. When I press the green Log In button it just buffers and does nothing

  8. Hello there,

Lately, I have not been able to log in BandLab Assistant to update Cakewalk.

When I open BandLab Assistant and click "Log In" it buffers a little and then does nothing.

I tried uninstalling and installing the app again but it did not work.

    Thank you,

no, it did not work I have tried about 10 solutions and nothing even update the windows and I do not think it is time to let go to the cakewalk cough cough shit cough cough

    Hi DIDAZNE :)

You may have tried this but here's what I did:

    I installed both  vc_redist.x86.exe  vc_redist.x64.exe from https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads

It worked for me when I closed everything, installed the given exe's and restarted the PC when it prompted me.

Please note it did not work when I restarted the PC manually later on!

Also, you could try to "repair" the program if you have already installed it and it still does not work. Click in the "exe" files and follow the wizard to "repair" and restart.

    I hope this helps :)

You will want to be able to send midi clock and start/stop commands from Cakewalk to the Volca, in order to sync both.

Your laptop input is meant to be a microphone input. It will record the Volca, but it will most probably sound awful.

Thank you very much, JoseC :)

  11. 14 hours ago, Promidi said:

That's correct.  there are two cables 1) MIDI and 2) Audio)

The MIDI cable would be connected from the PC to the Volca.  This is so Cakewalk can control the Volca.

Then you need a stereo cable from the Volca to the PC.  This is so Cakewalk can record the audio from the Volca.

The audio cable would be enough - but it would be more versatile to be able to control the parameters of the volca from Cakewalk using CCs.

I have checked the volca MIDI Implementation Chart and there are quite a few parameters you can control.

Personally, I would pick up a USB to MIDI adapter if you don't already have 5 pin DIN MIDI outs from your PC.  (Some Audio interfaces also have 5 Pin DIN MIDI in/out ports)

I appreciate your help, Promidi :)

Since PC/DAW  needs "line in" of an Audio Interface to receive the sounds from the Volca, I think I will go with an interface that has Audio In.

I would not like to control the Volca by Cakewalk for now. I'm glad the option exists though :)

Stupid question: what happens if I connect an audio cable from the  Volca's Out straight to the laptop's jack?

    Cheers,

If your audio interface has stereo line in, then you should be able to plug the headphone out of the volca sample in to the line in of your USB Audio interface using a suitable cable.

Makes sure if you do this, you're not using an input that is expecting microphone levels as the output of the volca sample headphone out might be quite high compared to that of a microphone .   Start with the levels at the lowest possible levels and turn them up gradually until the levels are not in the red (or just occasionally bumping the red).

Note: the M-Audio Uno is only a MIDI interface.  It is not an Audio interface.  This means the M-Audio Uno would not be suitable for this.  You would need an actual audio interface or a sound card that has line in sockets.

    Hi Promidi,

    thanks again for your help.

To get back to the topic: does that mean that I do not need an audio interface with "MIDI Out" since it only needs to have "Stereo line in"?

As far as I understand now, there are two cables 1) MIDI and 2) Audio)

    1)

MIDI Out from the audio interface connected to the MIDI In of the Volca only means signals can be sent from PC keyboard to play the notes on the Volca itself.

    2)

Otherwise, if I want to send a  single note/sequence/loop to record into a DAW track audio cable is enough?

    I hope I was clear :)

    Yeah. that is a pain.

You may change the name of the drum map file so that it appears at the top of the list.

What I did was create a new folder and put the drum maps I use in it and change the Drum Map folder in preferences to the new folder.

You made it so much easier for me and I love the sounds of Sitala!!

  14. 13 minutes ago, scook said:

Drum maps are stored in the project and provide several features to handle MIDI data.

Drum map presets like the one I built use the same tools as a drum map stored in a project but are stored on disk and may be loaded and stored in projects at a later date.

Any drum map may be stored as a preset by giving it a name and saving it using the Drum Map Manager.

    4pTzVFf.png

    I did that.

Is there a way to make it appear on the list between "1-Sitala 1" and "Drum Map Manager"?  Without having to scroll all the way down?

If not I will just move other drum maps to another folder (since I do not use them yet) and have only the map that you made :)

The drum map itself is awesome. I'm enjoying it already

It is easy to rename the Step Sequencer either using a drum map or a step sequencer template. I believe we have had this conversation before. One only has to create the map or template one time and the note numbers are replaced with whatever names you wish. Don't let this tiny learning curve dissuade you from a better solution. Drum maps are not hard, they are a boring typing exercise. For this post, I just build the drum map for the the Sitala Clean 808. It is on my Google page at the top under presets.

Put the drum map in your drum map folder. The path to this folder is in CbB preferences.

After adding Sitala to a project, add the drum map to the MIDI output in place of Sitala. The output drop down for instrument tracks is in the MIDI tab of the Track Inspector. Just below "I" in the image below

    Inspectors.3.4.png

It is easy to add sounds to Sitala. CbB includes drum samples in unexpected places like the kick, snares and tom wav files used in the Drum Replacer. There are quite a free drum samples on the net and one could even rip the samples out of old 32bit plug-ins if they had a desire.

Sitala is a much better long term solution than a SynthEdit based drum synth.

    Wooww you are the best!!!

Yes, I tried setting up a drum map from the preferences according to this tutorial:

But I had to load new the drum map from preferences all the time I opened CbB.

    It was not saved automatically.

Maybe I did something wrong on the way. I don't know.

I will try your method now :)

Thank you again! This thing has been demotivating me to open the DAW because my workflow is more sequence-based :)

Have you tried Sitala with the step sequencer built into CbB?

I have tried Sitala but I don't like CbB built-in sequencer that much. It's ok but it has notes assigned instead of snare, kick etc. it's less intuitive for me I guess :)

Stop using 32bit plug-ins and find replacements for the ones that do not have a 64bit versions such as plug-ins developed using the old SynthEdit toolkit.

I was looking for a free drum plugin with a decent step/grid sequencer. Unfortunately, could not find one :(

  18. 3 hours ago, scook said:

Best to start looking for replacements for 32bit plug-ins ASAP

This error is due to the plug-in with insufficient privileges trying to write to disk. This may be addressed by installing this plug-in in a different folder where anyone may write, changing the permissions of the current folder or running the DAW as administrator.

    Thanks you, scook!

I created another VST folder in D drive that does not require admin privileges and it worked :)

The thing is I have all my other VSTs are in  a C drive folder that requires admin privileges but they still work. And I have not changed any permissions for the given folder at all.

By replacements for 32bit plugins do you mean to get 64bit version?

  19. Hi there,

I've been recently getting this kind of messages :  "Can't load plugin: Specified module could not be found".  It has been happening with various plugins.

    Please see the attached photo.

Can someone tell me why this keeps happening?

  21. Hi there,

I have  a Volca Sample which only has MIDI in.

Will I be able to record into Cakewalk whatever I play on the Volca using  an  USB Audio interface? Specifically M-Audio Uno which has both MIDI in and MIDI out.

    Thank you,

    Are the Studio Instruments installed?

    They have a separate installer.

    To download and install

    • click the menu next to the Open button in BA
    • click Install Add-ons... for the optional installers
    • select the item(s) to install from the dialog
    • click Install

    6hjkFI5.png

If they are installed, run a VST Reset from preferences.

BTW "C:\Cakewalk Content" and "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk" should not be in the scan path. Scan paths should be restricted to folders containing VST2 and VST3 plug-ins.

Typically "C:\Cakewalk Content" does not contain any plug-ins at all.

Having both "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk" and "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins" cause the plug-ins in "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins" to be scanned twice because the scanner recursively traverses the scan path entries and there are a lot of dlls in the "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk" directory tree that are not VST plug-ins.

I can't thank you enough, scook :)  VST reset from Preferences worked.

Although. there is no sound when I set WASAPI Shared it gives me the message given in the image WASAPI 1.  When I run the Wave Profiler it gives me the following message in the image Wave Profiler 1. The following audio settings images might help.

Please note I have ASIO4ALL installed but when I set it as Driver Mode it shows: 1: "ASIO4ALL v2 Not Connected 1" under driver settings.

I appreciate you helping out the absolute beginner :)

  24. Hello all,

I recently reset my Windows 10 Home and reinstalled my Cakewalk with all its instruments it comes with. When I scan the folders they are in, it shows "VST Scan.  Scan complete. 52 Plugins found (......)"

For some reason though, it does not show in the Instruments list. It only shows  one third-party instrument - Waverazor.

    Any advice?

Thank you very much for your support, HIBI! A appreciate it :)
