  1. Thanks for listening @Makke . . . glad you liked it
  2. @garybrun . . . Thank you for your ears ! . . . yes, I'm the guilty mixer here The vocals are running through a Nectar 3 vocal chain with dynamic EQ, de-esser, saturation, reverb (with rolled off highs and lows), small hint of compression, but it also it uses an Auto Level setting . . . which is very touchy . . . I'll have a closer look at that.
  3. Thank you so much Mark ! (LOL it's a Yamaki, not a Yakima) . . . I did also wonder how to do this with a full band, harmonies, solos in the instrumental sections, maybe another version will be discovered some day. I kept it simple mostly because the music part came so quickly (for a change), so kept it the way it arrived. Thanks for your support and listening Bruce
  4. @Wookiee . . . thanks for your listen, and mix confirm . . . when it's just guitar and vocal, seems you still have to sweep out some low end, and I played around a lot to find the right amount.
  5. Jack, great you had a listen...thank you...
  6. Thank you Tom . . . always appreciated !
  7. @John Vere . . . perfect sounding mix, very balanced . . . mandolin and vocals really hit the spot !
  8. Fascinating stuff ! . . . can I place my order now for a Martin D-19 Guitar ! (when the technology improves past Ukes) Also, the recording, Uke playing and overall sound of your mix sounds excellent, high end positive vibe thing . . . really enjoyed it all !

    Off My Mind

Yes Jack !... I found this a very interesting listen, for sure your mixes have improved, and the lyrics / vocals against the musical arrangement changes are really effective . . . very well done !...

    Night Shadows

Hey @Makke . . . yes, something very different from your usual guitar thing . . . classical, minor key, very moody . . . well done !
  11. Hi all , another new song . . . it's a collaboration with one of my favourite UK songwriters "Wicked Deeds" (as he's known on Soundcloud) . . . been following him for a few years, and finally got an opportunity to do something together. Just simple, 2 guitars strumming and vocals for now . . . might expand it another day . . .
  12. Sounds great @subvibe . . . lush thick mix with really interesting guitars and synth washes, great modern pop vocal sound . . . a laid back and chill listen.
  13. Many of us had to have a "plan B" in 2018, and many here have mentioned money spent elsewhere . . . but we were also able to keep moving forward with the Cakewalk by BandLab free version, which ain't no sub standard DAW, and only ripened on the vine over the last few years. Agreed, the DAW is not going to get the attention or priority of engineering resources from the Mr. BIG corporation . . . but BandLab seems more solid than the last few business partners Cakewalk had . . . so, what should we music creators care, as long as we have a pathway to the future. Nothing is going to end, we can still open our older projects 5 years from now, right ? (he says hopefully) . . . it will just cost more . . . yep, more than free.

    Bad Dog

Lots of techno talk here . . . I just showed up for the amazing musical result ! Middy Snare sounds great in this mix. Well played saxes, as I've come to expect, always an enjoyable listen. (You shoulda' got the cat, ie . . . there are no bad cats, they are aloof and more discrete in their habits)

    Just

Effective slow groove, with that all encompassing solo horn . . . enjoyed it on my Sunday listen, like I knew I would . . . great stuff, as always Wookiee !
  16. I think this is a very accomplished piece of music, and well written, I remember you from the previous cakewalk site, glad to hear you here . . . orchestral parts sound very convincing to my ear, from my vantage point at lower left orchestra row 5 . . . mix wise, I thought the overall level should be a little bit higher, as I'm comparing to other online pieces I've been listening to tonight, but I guess you will master that later. Can't wait to hear the full piece when you complete it, and hope you will give us a link when you're done !
  17. @mark skinner, @garybrun . . . I listened to this last night (headphones), so looks like you've updated the mix . . . first of all it's got that "classic" different guitars panned left and right thing that Mark does so well, and the recorded acoustic instruments are captured to perfection I think. From my memory of the previous listen I think the arrangement got a lot clearer, especially in the low end . . . bass guitar pops a lot more, and the tabla sounds really good and punchy. Certainly goes through a lot of moods, Indian jazz, mix collab sounds excellent, and you know I love that cello !
  18. Hey Lynn . . . really liked listening to this one ! . . . and found that main chromatic guitar riff very unique (haven't heard something like that before) . . . also, really excellent catchy chorus vocals, and super clarity in the mix and panning *** . . . so much there really, powerful song overall.
  19. Great video John ! If only Cakewalk could produce some helpful migration videos like yours ! But, alas, why would they, when they've got you to do it for them free of charge. I'm old enough to remember the days of Brandon and Seth doing the video introductions . . . hopefully, when they officially release it, there will be something video ? Just putting in a good word for you, because I really appreciate what you do on this forum sir !!
  20. Like other DAWs, and previous Cakewalks (Sonar, Platinum iterations) . . . why not make them "sell" you on the new features. So, you buy it originally (maybe they will discount slightly for Platinum lifetime users, LOL) . . . then, the new versions they offer have new features and add-ons . . . you decide if you want the new tantalizing features, or not . . . if you get behind in your upgrades, it will cost more to catch up. If you wait too long, your OS and audio interface will become obsolete anyways. This way, they have to continuously improve the product in meaningful ways to remain DAW relevant, and competitive in the marketplace, everyone's a winner. . . . then I awoke from my dream to realize the subscription model makes the most sense from a business point of view, predictable revenues, dedicated customers. Only problem is "subscription" is just a jaded word in software sales . . . so, just present it as an old school "partnership" with the existing clients, since many are long time partners already. For the newcomers . . . just build it, and they will come.
  21. We got a gig out of town at a country bar, but we only knew one country song, had to play it four times . . . afterwards we were loading up the van and a girl came up to me and excitingly said "how long have you been playing guitar" . . . I was the bass player. We finished the evening off by playing an original song . . . and that same girl said, "and what was that weird song at the end ?"
  22. Jono . . . started out as problem with broadcast waves, then it turned into a problem with doing videos and notation, maybe it's the wrong DAW for your needs, or maybe you're expecting it do do more than it does. It's unfortunate that Cakewalk still even has video "capabilities", and staff view is a long way from notation software. If we focus on the broadcast waves issue in Export dialog . . . have you used the Export Preset "Clips - Broadcast Wave" ? . . . or, have you tried to save a preset specific for what you're needing to do ?
  23. Hi Mark . . . Great energetic piece ! . . . liking this one a lot . . . you move between acoustic and electric guitar so smoothly here. You mentioned "Been playing with some vox", so, what about a theme of Country vs. City ? (acoustic is the country, electric is the city) Also, super harmonica playing, really enjoyed that. (sounds like you and FedEx totally delivered) Bruce

    Late

Nicely done, the feel is all there, some interesting interplay between the guitar and piano . . . yes, some vocals would really top this off . . . I hope you will develop the idea further into a full song with vocals, it really calls out for that !
  25. Brilliantly done Barry ! Mix sounding great now . . . really enjoyed the Bridge part where you insert some nature against the traffic mayhem, the video really accents that . . . nice touch, sounds excellent, well written tune.
