  1. Release notes said VST3 Text is now changeable in TE so how do I get the latest TE to do that?

BA has it pre-checked & grayed out so I can't get it from there.

Do I need to install one of the other add ons to get it?

    Current TE dated 4/26/18

MIDI tacks are just data. The MIDI tracks are always associated with an audio track that outputs the sound. Otherwise, you get no sound.

And yet there is. So the question remains.

This is the only track behaving this way, so it could be a corrupt MID track.

Or maybe another incident of editing a project started in an earlier version of Sonar. Seems this always brings on weird behavior for me.

  3. CbB 2019.01

    Never seen this one before.

    1. Project has 10 MIDI, 10 Synth, & 3 Audio tracks.

    2. One MIDI track outputs to a Synth track with either Acoustica Instruments or CW TTS-1.

    3. If I SOLO another track and hit PLAY, the above MIDI track will also play sound unless I MUTE it.

    4. Muting  the MIDI track's Synth track does not silence it. (How can a synth produce sound if it's MUTED?)

    5. This MIDI track plays sound no-matter-what if output to Acoustica Instruments or CW TTS-1.

    6. Does not happen if Synth is Dimension, SI, or others.

2nd CbB strange behavior in a month. 1st one was certain faders reverting to half volume when hitting STOP in 2018.09.

  4. No & no. To my knowledge Mains can't have automation. I've never seen this behavior in 18 years of using Cakewalk.

To recap: Only the left Main fader of output 1 and the track faders of certain instruments are affected.

It's the STOP button that triggers the faders to move to -8.7, so something went screwy inside the box.

What was I doing when it happened 1st? Working on a new theme - switching themes back an forth as I went.

  5. Either way - Preferences or TE - tho sometimes Preferences seems to override TE changes.

Background, fonts, and ruler marks can all be changed.

  6. 64 is actually up (OFF)...

    1. Staff View - Click Pedal button, click ON and OFF points in the white box. (seems sketchy but works with some fiddling)

    2. PRV - Controller Pane: click "+", enter "64 Pedal (sustain)", pick Draw tool, click ON points at 127 and OFF points at 0.  (65-127=ON; 0-64=OFF)

    3. Evernt List - Click time position where you want the event, click "+" at top left, double click Kind, select "Controller" & OK, double click Data, type "64" & ENTER.    In the next column type 65-127=ON or 0-64=OFF.

    4. Use outboard synth pedal to record ON & OFF points in real time.

  7. Do so at your own risk and always make a backup of anything changed.

TA - If you don't know how to do it, you probably won't.

TA - It's really quite easy and straight forward.

FWIW - Mixcraft, Samplitude, DP, and many other DAWs have open folders for their GUI files. No "hacking" required.

  8. I have 2 interface outputs. CbB shows 2 MAIN fader strips in CV. Regardless of which output I use, MAIN1 fader's Left side reverts to -8.7 when I hit STOP. Locking L&R reverts both faders to -8.7. Moving it back & saving project doesn't fix.  Also happens to certain VST instrument track faders.

This affects the last 2 projects I'm working on and every new one I create.

  9. Thanks Matthew. I had tried that one earlier but it didn't work. Does now. No hope for the 'Slider Background' tho.

If only they'd replace the nonfunctioning entries (all the gray CV backgrounds became defunct when colored tracks were reintroduced) with the missing entries, we'd be good.

EDIT- Didn't work because it requires a reboot (close/reopen) of CbB to take affect.
