  1. https://soundcloud.com/barry-seymour/the-kind-of-man-who-does-whats-right Here's a remix. I removed the surround sound from the vocals; some devices seemed to have problems with it, like the voice was canceled out or something. It was strange. Let me know if you think this mix works better.
  2. Thanks for the kind words. Again, not my story, thankfully.
  3. I kept going back and forth on that. In the end, I wanted it to blend more with the strings, kind of like a co-equal voice. Interesting side note on that, that is a Takamine acoustic guitar with built-in pickups. I used one of the included VSTs and it sounds like frickin' Brian May! (The tone quality, at least.) This is a do-over; I re-sang the vocals.
  4. It kind of is. I want the vocal to sit right inside the listener's head, like this is a personal story. I have an update, will post momentarily...
  5. This? https://mixcoach.com/creating-depth-the-haas-effect-2/ Intriguing. I'll have to research this. Interestingly, when I listen to this on my work computer with a single-ear mono headset, I hear no vocals at all! Something weird going on in this mix for sure...
  6. While I thank you for the thought, this is not my story, thankfully.
  7. I used reverb and surround sound on the acoustic guitar and the vocals. I'll review the settings.
  8. I kind of wanted to go for an isolated, simple sound with the vocals. It's just guitar, bass, lead and a single strings line. (Strings are new to me, I'm lovin' 'em.)
  9. I'm really proud of this one. Let me know if you hear anything that needs tweaking or improving. EDIT: Sorry, everyone, for some reason Soundcloud can't find this, even though the link is right. https://soundcloud.com/barry-seymour/the-kind-of-man-who-does-whats-right
  10. Thanks. Stratocaster on the left, fingerpicked Takamine acoustic on the right. Solo was on my cheap Squier Tele, with Fender Vintage Pickups. A surprisingly good axe, after some upgrades and adjustments.
  11. Cathartic, yes. A little bit terrifying too, to be honest. But it is what it is. I wrote it, I recorded it, now I gotta put it out there. Thanks for the kind words.
  12. Late last night. I have to work at the kitchen table, around my family's schedule.
  13. Actually, not an error. The Am goes to an AmMa7, I wanted to echo that with the bass. You can hear the same thing at 1:28. Good ear, though!
  14. Just the Sonitus effects included with Cakewalk. Sonitus Reverb and Surround.
  15. There's just a touch in there. Too much and it would take away from the personal vibe I was striving for.
  16. I just started a new project and am experimenting with Arranger. All was going well, it's pretty rudimentary at this point, but now I'm in a place where I try to Duplicate a section and Cakewalk crashes. It's pretty reliable. I'm a software developer, so I know how important it is to be able to reproduce a bug! If you can't do that, you can't find and fix it. So I have a ZIP file of my project if anyone at Bandlab wants to look at it. Right now it's super simple - a drum track and a rhythm guitar track. I wanted to attach it but it's larger than the forum will permit. I've been looking in vain for any place where I can report a bug; if anyone knows where I could do that, please forward this to them. Thanks!
  17. Mull was primarily a musician in the 70s. Lots of great, funny stuff, and an AMAZING guitarist. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=martin+mull+music&disable_polymer=true
  18. I used one of the built-in Drum machines - MTPowerDrumKit2. I donated $10 to get a key that eliminates the need to 'accept' the kit every time I use it. It includes a set of grooves, and fills along with a rudimentary composer tool that lets you assemble a groove with related fills. I don't need much, but this worked out really well for me.
  19. Probably the pick. BOSS compression pedal can boost that.
  20. That was the Strat in the picture. Bridge and Middle pickup, Boss compression pedal.
  21. Here's a new one. I had me some fun with it. Thoughts?
  22. Ding ding ding ding ding! 😉
  23. Very kind, thanks. (I use Sony MDR headphones myself, but then I do a test listen using the earphones that came with my Samsung Galaxy phone! 😉)
