  1. Thanks for your input scook. But the link you've provided is to the current version. I want a link to the previous version. I am having problems with the current version.
  2. Hi, I'm with Win 7. I just downloaded the latest version of CW & have interface graphics issues & it has crashed for the first time ever. So I'd like to roll back to the previous version, but I cant find a link. I understand that CW will no longer support Win 7, even though everywhere on the site it still states that the software is compatible with it. Thanks.
  3. Hi Jim, thanks for your response. I have only just seen this message. I have been using the fb Zoom page, very helpful people. The drum pads I have found totally useless for my requirments. It's not possible to record with them whilst playing back other tracks or recording other tracks simultaneously, so you'd have to imagine the music in your mind whilst recording the a drum track to your music. I have no idea why that facility has been specificly designed that way. Building a drum track to a song blindly, in a series of small loops, & patching them together is too much of a mammoth task for me. I'd rather play perc manually or use my laptop keyboard with the perc in the daw.
  4. I tried it with a couple of new tracks & get the same result. There must be a setting I've accidentally changed somehwere.
  5. Yes, NUDGE works okay thanks, but it's useful only for moving a whole clip of notes. Anyway I'm using the work around now, it's convenient enough. Thank you.
  6. It's a hi hat track. I've hovered over all areas of both horizontal & vertical parts; the movement tool tip does not appear, unless I change to Fit To Content. I am using the Inline PRV.
  7. So I have found a work around, but not solved the issue: I have found that if I select Fit To Content, where the grid in Inline PRV changes to a dual grey tone & the note lines enlarge to blocks, only then can I select the notes for movement. I don't find this view easy on the eyes though. Thanks for your efforts guys.
  8. Yes. I have found that if I select Fit To Content, where the grid in Inline PRV changes to a dual grey tone & the note lines enlarge to blocks, only then can I select the notes for movement. I don't find this view easy on the eyes though.
  9. I have the correct + tool selected. Also, the Smart tool has all selections checked, but doesn't show the move + tool tip when the cursor is hovered over the note, even though the other tool selections work okay.
  10. I have that filter set to Notes. I want to move the notes in the track view so I can visually align them with the kick drum track.
  11. I have recorded a MIDI hi hat track but cannot move the notes in the track pane. The tool will not show the + tool tip on the note, though all the other tools work okay. With the other two drum tracks I have created I am able to see the + tool tip & move notes okay. All the track settings seem to be the same.
  12. Great, figured it out. Thanks very much guys for your ongoing assistance. 4 days in & almost completed my first kick drum track 🤣
  13. I'm new to CW. I have a drum track which I have somehow accidentally altered the view of, but don't know how to reverse. I have searched the shortcut list, but don't know the name of the view, if it is a view change at all. I have attached a screen shot. There are 2 drum tracks. The one coloured orange is the one which has changed. I might prefer to use it with this look, but I don't know how to change it, why this is an option or what benefits it might have over the original style (the second drum track with blue dashes below it).
  14. No, they don't respond at all. I think I'm through with investigating this any further. For now I'll record the drums in real time using my laptop keyboard, until I get a more comprehensive dedicated controller. Thanks very much for your help, & your optimism!
  15. Thanks. I installed, set up the AZ Controller & checked the videos. The drum pads on the R8 don't respond to thr AZ Controller software. The faders, rotary knob & many of the buttons do. I think it will not be possible to record drums in real time using the drum pads of the R8. It seems they're switched off in order to prevent this.
  16. Thanks for the info . I have set up two Controller Set Up options now for MIDI Control Surfaces. I am at the stage where I have opened an instrument track as SI-Drums, & set the Zoom R8 so I control the track vol fader, appropriate either solo/mute/rec commands, move between tracks using the arrow U/D buttons & expand or collapse them, use the rotary selection wheel to move the line marker, & various other functions. But this is not what I need, as it's not really any faster or convenient than using the mouse for these controls. Perhaps these would be useful for recording analogue instruments directly through the R8. Anyway I digress. I want to be able to record real time drums from the pads of R8 (as they are velocity sensitive) using the sounds of, in this case, the SI-Drums. I have set the R8 as the input on the SI-Drums track, but I can only play the drums with either the mouse of the laptop keyboard, which of course is not touch sensitive. OR, when a drum is selected with the mouse, the R8 direction U/D buttons can trigger it. Also, when a parameter is selected on the SI-Drums panel, the same buttons function.
  17. I have now achieved opening the ACT MIDI Controller presets window correctly. There is no preset for the Zoom R8, so I will have to custom create one. I now need to figure out how to create a custom preset button template for a MIDI drum kit, for example the CW SI-Drum Kit. This is a long process. I hope it is possible.
  18. I have connected the Zoom R8 to CW as a control surface (preferences>Midi>Control Surfaces & set up in/outputs), but when selecting 'Zoom R Series 1' at the bottom of the CW utilities menu there are no controls available. A small window opens stating 'R Series Sonar Plug-in 1.2.0.0 64bit edition'. The presets field of this window opens to reveal a blank white menu. Is this because it is not supported or do I need to configure? I have discovered that it's not possible to record drums in real time on the R8 (the drum pad native functions are changed when the R8 is in record mode), so I want to assign samples to the built-in pads of the R8 & use them to record real time into Cakewalk. I am a beginner in recording & so don't know whether this is possible, but the R8 is supposed to be able to be used to control certain aspects of a DAW. Enlightenment much appreciated.
  19. The options for both Playback & Record TM are now ASIO4ALL v2 Zoom R8 1. My problem has been solved. I have no latency issues with audio outputting from the laptop to the Zoom R8, i.e, the metronome for recording or track playback for headphone monitoring. I don't know why the Zoom R8 when interfacing is set to 96.0. I have only been recording with it at 44.1khz 24bit. Again, thanks for your help.
  20. I have resolved the issue. I needed to re-boot the R8 for the ASIO4All driver to recognise the R8 driver. I have reduced the ASIO buffer size to 128. Thes are the new parameters showing in CW: Buffers in playback queue - 2 Buffer size is just below Fast & 4.7 msec / 208 samples Effective latency at 44khz/stereo 4.7 msec ASIO reported latencies (includes buffer & hardware latencies): Input & Output both = 5.4 msec, Samples 240. Total Roundtrip 10.9 msec, 480 samples. Are these settings good? Thanks very much for your assistance scook.
  21. Yes, there is a 'tool' with ASIO4All, but I don't understand how it works. In its panel it shows the two drivers (Zoom R8 & Realtek) that I cannot choose in CW when the Driver Mode is set to ASIO. Each has some options which can be changed. For example, the Zoom R8 options are as follows: Latency compensation - In: currently set to 32 Samples / Out: currently set to 32 samples. Hardware buffer (unchecked). Kernel Buffers: currently set at 2. Always resample 44.1khz<->48khz (unchecked). Force WDM Driver To 16 Bit (unchecked) Also, if I highlight the Zoom R8 in the WDM Device list of the panel, there are listed: Out: 2x 44.1-96khz, 24Bits & In:2x 44.1-96khz, 24Bits. At the bottom of the panel is a slider for the ASIO Buffer Size, defaulted to 512 Samples. I am not knowledgeable enough to understand the ramifications of these settings or how to apply them to my problem.
  22. Sorry, I don't understand. Supplied by the manufacturer of what? The laptop, the drivers, the R8? Previously I was told to preferably use the ASIO Driver Mode & choose the Zoom R8 options for Playback & Record TM. You are implying that this is not possible? Then hwo can I use the ZoomR8 driver for output without having the latency problem?
  23. On someones advice I istalled ASIO4ALL. However, when selected as Driver Mode, it provides only itself as an option for Playback & Record TM.
