All kidding aside, that's a great price for the (now obsolete) pair. He probably paid in the area of $5K for them.

Yeah, I paid over $5000 for them.  Since I compose and orchestrate using headphones and I only use the speakers for mixing and mastering, they didn't get nearly as much use as they would have if I used them for writing and sequencing, which takes the majority of my production time.  In other words, they've got years of life in them..

  2. These speakers are superb for mixing and mastering.  They are high end and are in excellent condition--no dings, blemishes or scratches.  I am the original owner and they've only been used on a clean, smoke-free studio environment.

Will sell locally only, must pick up (San Francisco Bay Area)

    $2750 for the pair.

I just got a new headphone amplifier today, and have been surfing around looking for high-fidelity content to test it out with.

I thought "hmm, I should find one of Jerry's tunes, that'd be a good test". And yay, here's a new one. Thank you, Jerry!

No critique, just "thank you, Jerry". Love your stuff.

Thanks Bitflipper for listening to my work!

And thanks to Rob for listening..

    Hi Jerry.
    You have great composing skills.
I recognized the dune sound and very clever how you integrated it with traditional orchestration.
If you are looking for a vocalist for collaboration I dont mind trying to help out.
You can hear my voice and various posts on here...  if I can be of assistance please send a pm.

    well done.

    Hi Gary,

Can you send me a link to your website or to music you have sung to?  My daughter is getting married and I wrote a song for her and her fiance, but haven't been able to bring people into my studio because of the virus.    I can't promise anything because I am looking for a particular  kind of voice (male or female) but if I can find the right singer who also has the ability to record their vocal part in their own studio, maybe we can work something out.

    Best,

    Jerry

  5. I improved the timing between the softsynth (Dune) and the orchestral samples.  The movement now has more of the feel I was going for..

Some softsynths have very sharp attacks, much sharper than orchestral samples, even marcato or other fast attacks are capable of.   My solution is to move the synth tracks forward in time (later) so I can achieve better sync with the attacks.   This small adjustment can greatly improve the groove of the piece.  In this case the synth track is moved 55 ticks late...

Hi Jerry . . . another work of beauty ! I especially like the way you blend some "classic" sequencer sounds into the landscape of this piece, but in true romantic tradition it never repeats itself too much, always changing and evolving. Also, the drum work is really excellent, almost starts to sound like a kit, but then you manage to keep it orchestral.  A most enjoyable listen, thanks for posting this here.

Hey thanks Noynekker!   Glad you enjoy listening...

Ok It is now working.  After uninstalling and then manually clearing the registry and the direcorties and then reinstalling.  This time a Cakewalk  wizard took me through a setup as if this was the first time installation and all is well.  Now the hard part of putting back all of my settings, workspaces and sorting out all of the plugins etc.

A real pain but worth it for the snap function - It's a primitive snap but will do me.

Thanks for your help everyone and thankyou Bandlab

One thing extra that I have noticed is that the start window were you choose a project or create new is far faster.

    Regards

    Jim

Great!  Glad to hear that you got it working.  You may have had a corrupt file somewhere.  That's what I would have done; clear out the Cakewalk registry entries and all the config files.

    Best,

    Jerry

I posted the version info above it's 2020.08 (Build 100, 64 Bit) Running on Windows 10 with all the latest patches.

    I installed it yesterday.

I have tried toggling the grid on and off, tried running as administrator.  Tried now about 20 times.

Do you have your display resolution set at 32nd so you can see if the notes are really on the snap ?.  What do the start positions look like in event viewer ?

I really do hope that it is working for you.

    Regards

    Jim

Yes, I always leave the note resolution on 1/32.  I've tested this multiple times using different note values.  It's definitely working properly on my machine.  If I turn snap off it defaults to 1/32 resolution (snap resolution) and if I turn it on it snaps to whichever note value I choose.

I guess the next thing I'd try is to uninstall CW and download it again and reinstall it.  Let me know what happens. Maybe also delete some configuration files pertaining to MIDI before reinstalling, although you'd have to reconfigure some settings..

p.s.  I've now tested this on 2 machines and snap is working properly on the staff view for both...

And this is my version info.

I take it that Global snap is the snap grid on or off in the Main Tool Bar ?

I did not download the beta but waited for the official change and downloaded and installed via the Bandlab Assistant

Yes, that is the global snap, on the control bar.  It's working properly on my DAW.  Hmm, it should be working on yours. Try turning global snap off and then back on.

Are you sure you are running the newest version? It just got released yesterday.

BandLab Assistant and Cakewalk are two different apps.

If you uninstall Cakewalk, BandLab assistant is still there.

    So:

    • Uninstall Cakewalk
    • Open up BandLab Assistant's download folder in Windows Explorer
    • Download via BandLab Assistant
    • Cakewalk.exe should appear in the folder - wait until it's fully downloaded (i.e. when the setup starts)
    • Copy / Paste it to another folder

Thank you msmcleod for clarifying how to save a backup of Cakewalk.  That was easy...

    This is correct.

You can if you want to. Doing so causes BA to present the install option as if it is a first time install.

But if I uninstall  CW then I cannot have it open while downloading it again because I've uninstalled it!I'm not understanding what you mean... Is it possible to download the app and be able to save Cakewalk. exe without uninstalling it?

    Sure you can.

Keep in mind how updates work:

    • If the machine is current, BandLab Assistant downloads and applies an update installer. This is not the full version of CbB. It is very much like the next release's rollback installer.
    • If the machine is not current or an initial install, BandLab Assistant downloads the full ~500MB installer.

BandLab Assistant deletes the installer after it is run. It is possible to make a copy of the installer after the download is complete and before the install is complete. Running CbB after initiating the download causes BA to issue a message advising the program is running and must be shutdown to continue. This message is displayed after the download is complete. Take as much time as you want to copy the installer, then shutdown CbB and let the update continue.

BA uses %appdata%\bandlab-assistant\Downloads for its temporary installer storage.

    Hey scook,

I don't mean to be trouble, but I'm not sure what you mean.  When I open Cakewalk (the latest version) and then open Bandlab Assistant, BA only gives me the option to open the program (even though it's already open).  BA won't initiate a download because (I think) it detects that I have the latest version installed.   Do I have to uninstall Cakewalk first?  Sorry, I am confused...

  13. Is it possible to download an actual  . exe file to retain for backup purposes?

I might need to revert to an earlier version of the program.  The Bandlab Assistant does not seem to allow for this.

    Thanks,

    Jerry
