  1. After running their installer, all of my previous .dll-files were deleted and replaced with just: Black Rooster Audio.dll.  Okay, no problem if that's how they're doing it now.   But!  Now none of my previous plugins are detected in Cubase, including Magnetite.  Nice!

So what they're saying is: No plugins for you!  Come back one year.

  2. Just listened to the KNIF Knifonium Tube Synth playthrough and was very underwhelmed.  It sounds like just another generic synth rather than something with unique character like DS Thorn or Lion (both of which I love and use often).

A little tip...if you buy the update but don't activate you get the latest version for free when you do activate! I bought the 10.5 update last month but am holding on to it till this fall to get 11 for free :)

I'm hoping that version 11 will finally deliver the much needed (and requested) bug fixes, stability and productivity improvements.

Matthias Quellmann seems to have hinted that may be the case in this post:

Signed up, but I gotta say I watched the Scheps masterclass and it was mostly a Waves mega-ad.

I watched it too as well as the ones by Chris Lord-Alge, Piper Payne, Tony Maserati, and Chris Baseford.  The only one I found useful/insightful was the one by Chris Baseford.  It's not just that Waves plugs their plugins, but the classes were very unfocused.

I plan to watch Eddie Kramer's masterclass; but with low expectations.  I'm hoping to be surprised.

It's the official & unofficial ( AlexB, Cupwise, CDS, Tim Petherick) 3rd party programs that really shine.

Are these also included for the 79EUR price, or do you have to buy them separately?

You are right Brian $70 for just 1 plugin is a lot but.... as mentioned often you get more than just 1 plugin under 1 name.

Let's check what is included for  instance in current deal Nebula N4 for 79EUR:

    Bundle features

Inside this bundle you will find:

N4 is a VST, AAX and AU multi-effect plug-in that is able to emulate and replicate several types of expensive audio equipment, eliminating the need for costly and bulky hardware. N4 uses libraries that are created using a sophisticated “sampling approach” making it possible to “record” aspects of the sound of audio devices and play them back. The result of this sampling process is highly realistic, complex emulations of many types of audio signal processes and effects.

The Cross Platform Commercial Library (version 5) is a 10 GB library with more than 450 different real hardware emulations sorted by category. The Cross Platform Commercial Library can be downloaded via Aquarius and include in detail:

    N4 Pack 1 - Compressor (33 emulation presets).

N4 Pack 2 - EQ and Filters (73 emulation presets).

    N4 Pack 3 - Preamps (73 emulation presets).

    N4 Pack 4 - Time Variant (52 emulation presets).

    N4 Pack 5 - Room Reverbs (22 emulation presets).

    N4 Pack 6 - Plate Reverbs Part A (12 emulation presets).

    N4 Pack 7 - Plate Reverbs Part B (13 emulation presets).

    N4 Pack 8 - Hall Reverbs Part A (14 emulation presets).

    N4 Pack 9 - Hall Reverbs Part B (15 emulation presets).

    N4 Pack 10 - Spring Reverbs (4 emulation presets).

    N4 Pack 11 - Others Reverbs (20 emulation presets).

    N4 Pack 12 - Tapes (20 emulation presets).

To be clear I am not trying to convince for this deal anybody :)

I am personally skipping it as I have got lately pink but it is tempting...

Are you saying that 79EUR buys all 12 N4 Packs?  I must be reading this wrong.  It sounds too good to be true (unless these plugins are not that great).

Fixed the issue that prevented certain ToneCloud and saved presets from being loaded

Does this fix address the following issue?

"Since the 2.1.9 release, we've changed the policy on BIAS FX 2's ToneCloud licensing.
The accessibility of the presets has been adjusted. From now on, the presets that contain BIAS Amp 2 content will be unavailable to those who do not own the respecting license. This is merely to reinforce the same principle across all additional contents (BIAS Amp 2, BIAS Pedal, Celestion, expansion packs) for BIAS FX 2."

  8. I just bought the WG2 MkII and can't stop playing it!  At first it seemed to have this wierd kind of hollow sound to it, but there's something extremely musical about it.

Previously the Embertone Walker Steinway D was my favorite piano to play; but now I have another favorite.  What I like about the Walker D is that it's so clean and resonant.  The WG2 MkII on the otherhand is very 'colored' and full of character.  The difference is like a Taylor (Walker D) vs. a Martin (WG2 MkII).

For $20 it's and amazing buy!

Now I have to decide what to purchase to get it, since  I did the Scaler 2 upgrade on day one.   😆

    I'm thinking about getting this:

  10. TwinPhaser is a stereo phaser effect with two separate phaser modules for the left and right audio channels. The user can adjust the modulation frequency, modulation depth, feedback, and the mix amount parameters separately on both channels. As a result, TwinPhaser can be used to apply complex and wide stereo phasing to the processed audio signal.

Some nice features there, but I think I'll wait for the 50% off your upgrade email.

Have they ever offered such a deal shortly after release of a new version?

OTOH, there's Pro-R, which has no equal IMO.

Hmm.  To me, Pro-R is the weakest plugin in an otherwise stellar lineup.

Shortly after getting Pro-R I put it on everything but then slowly started to replace it with other plugins (even some freebies) because it colors everything that goes through it in such an unpleasent way.  I was really surprised because many instances of C2, Q2, and Saturn can be found in almost all of my projects.

Don't get me wrong, the design -- like all FF plugins -- is fantastic.  And the GUI animation is absolutely mesmerizing -- like a plugin lava lamp.  But the sound is just plain wierd.  Despite reading the entire manual, watching all the videos I could find, and spending many days with the plugin, I was never able to get it to sound good.

Perhaps Pro-R2 will be better (to my ears)...
