  1. Analog Obsession has released BUSTERse, a freeware bus compressor effect in VST, VST3, and AU plugin formats for compatible digital audio workstations on PC and Mac.

BUSTERse is the upgraded version of the previously released Buster compressor from the same developer. It introduces several improvements and new features that allow more control over the compressor’s behavior.

  2. Hmm, just noticed something new in the TaskManager with V12: WavesLocalServer.exe.

It's a background process that uses ~125MB of memory, loads when my DAW starts (Cubase), and stays loaded even after quitting Cubase. I don't like that!

I wonder if it's for telemetry purposes (and if it can be disabled).

As soon as I start selecting plugins from Group B, the extension date for all the plugins is set to one year past that date. However the price scales up to match.

My most recent plugin is a freebie from the last sale. It has WUP through September 2021 already. If I go to extend it along with all my expired plugins, my WUP price increases from $240 (one year cap) to $476 -- just under two years of renewal for just under two years of cost.

As a bonus, the plugins are licensed to a single machine. You get two licenses so long as you pay for WUP but the day your WUP sub expires the extra licenses vanish. Sort of seems like the worst of artificial upgrades and subscription business models.

I went through the same steps you described above and, at first, thought I had to pay (WUP) to have all my "Group B" plugins converted to V12; I like the new resizing and prest browser options.  But then I realized that everything in Group B could be updated for free (which, of course, I just did).

I'm not sure if you, or others, realize this, so I'm mentioning it to make sure that no one who's entitled to upgrade for free misses the opportunity.

The resizing is so so on some plugins, good on others. It is pretty bad on the Scheps Omni Channel.

The preset browser is quite nice for me. On the Scheps Omni Channel it makes it much easier to check out presets and zero in to the best preset (starting point) for a particular track. ex. just typing 'el' makes it easy to find all the presets for electric guitar. Very very nice!

One feature not mentioned in the upgrade info: I got a ton of new presets for the Scheps Omni Channel which was well worth the 13$ I paid for WUP. Very nice surprise!

    What's bad about the resizing?

Omni Channel is the only one I own that has expired. I was planning to WUP it for the sole reason of being able to resize it larger, but after reading what you wrote may not bother.

I gave everyone a way to get 2 years of WUP for the price of one when you were ready
to buy WUP.  Buy a new plugin, then include that new plugin in the WUP purchase.
WUP is renewed from the LAST expiration date of your plugins, which would be 1 year
from the purchase of the NEW plugin, giving you 2 years for the price of one...
but they've killled the ability to do that!

So that means if you WUP now renewal is calculated relative to the expiration date of each plugin (which at most will be just one year) ... yes?

there's a sneaky update to solid as well (2.1.1) - must have happened in the last couple of hours as I'd just installed 2.1

Hmm, this^ may be relevant. I downloaded the update to Solid as well but the size of the file I received was only ~548MB, not 5.5GB.

Is this the name of the file you downloaded: "VD-SOLID2_win_2567.exe"?

  7. Guitar plugins made with JUCE that use neural network models to emulate real world hardware.

    Currently Windows 10 only.

    SmartGuitarAmp

    See video demo here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9DElOaZvHo&feature=youtu.be

This plugin uses a WaveNet model to recreate the sound of real world hardware. The current version models a small tube amp, with the ability to add more options in the future. There is a clean/lead channel, which is equivalent to the amp's clean and full drive settings. Gain and EQ knobs were added to modulate the modeled sound.

    ------------------------------------------------------

    SmartGuitarPedal

    See video demo here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zwZNa7Kwwo&t=58s

This plugin uses a WaveNet model to recreate the sound of real world hardware, such as a TS9 Tubescreamer or Blues Jr amp. Drive, Level, and Tone were added for simple ways to control the sound. The WaveNet model is effective at emulating distortion style effects or tube amplifiers.

My experience with prime day is that there is a lot of junk.  Also, anything that might be worthwhile I usually miss because it requires waiting until deal comes alive and buying it before you get put on a waiting list if you even blink.  It’s rather frustrating :)This

    This ^

Years ago Amazon was the first place I would go to buy stuff.  Now I only use them as a (grudging) last resort.  Take that Jeff Bezos!

  9. Audiority has released Dr Drive, a freeware modern overdrive guitar pedal effect in VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin formats for compatible DAW applications on PC and Mac.

Dr Drive is an analog-modeled overdrive pedal plugin developed by Audiority. It is released in celebration of Audiority’s 10th anniversary. The plugin’s design and features are inspired by the Precision Drive overdrive pedal manufactured by Horizon Devices.

for those not looking to spend a cent...you can use this code on the $19.99 plugs and not pay anything :)

Or perhaps choose two $10 plugins; for example:

    1. Unfiltered Audio Sandman +  Indent 2

    2. Brainworx bx_bluechorus2 + bx_metal2

    3. Two of the (excellent!) Lindell plugins (6X-500, 7X-500, PEX-500)

    Or mix-and-match...

So; ModoD, ModoB, B3, ST4 and MS-CE for me. Not bad for $139 and some Whammy points; non?

Are you saying that you got the full versions of ModoD, ModoB, B3, and ST4 all for $139 by just buying MS-CE?

If so, how?  MS-CE costs less than the other four.

I also own Sampletank 4 SE (I was a customer since the first version, but got SE when I recently purchased their mini 37 key midi keyboard). Sampletank 4 shows up at $199 USD for me also, which is a pretty steep upgrade price considering the normal retail price differences between the two products. I didn't think it was worth it to buy the full Sampletank (I own KOMPLETE). My whole reason for Sampletank was that I own a lot of older SampleTank libraries I like, and its libraries are commonly a lot smaller than those of KONTAKT, which makes them easier to run on my laptop as opposed to a much more powerful dedicated DAW PC.

If you wait until BF maybe you can get ST4 on sale (e.g., https://rekkerd.org/black-friday-save-up-to-60-on-total-studio-2-max-sampletank-4-sampletank-4-max/) and then apply JamPoints to further reduce the price.

First, if you already own any $99 (or higher) product, you can select the much cheaper “crossgrade” tier. Just log in to know.
Second, if you use jam points to lower the price you pay, the original (higher) price still counts.
Third, if you buy the usb-stick version, I’m afraid your freebies will still be of the download persuasion.

I was curious about this, so I selected the “crossgrade” option as you mentioned, added SampleTank 4 to my cart, but the price still reflected the street price of $199.99 despite being a registered owner of SampleTank 4 SE.

    Did I do something wrong?
