  1. Installed (I am on the Sonic Pass subscription)

To be clear this is a straightforward UVI workstation library rather than a guitar processor. That said, from an initial run through some pre-sets and tweaking a few controls it sounds reasonably unique and quite good too. I think I will need to reference the manual (is there one?) to get my head around a couple of things in GUI but that's a job for another day.

Well I take issue with your use of the word 'cheating' - creativity and originality comes in many forms, and very few of us can be virtuoso multi-instrumentalists.

I meant it to be a bit tongue in cheek. The alternative would have meant hiring an orchestra among other things 😉. The Hollywood Orchestrator and it's ostinatos cleared a massive roadblock trying to come up with the bridge section, really inspiring.

  3. I just completed a project in version 6 from composition to mastering without issues. I really like the lyrics in v6, I am on the Sphere subscription, but the lyric track alone would have been worth the upgrade for me had I been on a perpetual licence.

On the downside I had a crash in another project using one of the older Musiclab guitars (Real Strat) but other than that rock solid for me.

Same here. It's been years since the latest version of Notion 6 was updated. I think that Dorico is way ahead of them at this point.

PreSonus is probably just happy to have a program to get song notation into and out of Studio One with no hassle, and that works fine ever since they added notation into Studio One (based on Notion). But it's been in stasis ever since.

Notion could do with an update but the Studio One integration is priceless for my work flow, particularly since the lyric improvement in S1 6.

I find adding the lyrics to guide MIDI track piano roĺl view in S1 intuitive, then being able to quickly produce a score with lyrics and the chords from S1's chord  track very useful.

  5. Later 149 Euros until 21 Nov, then 299 Euros.

Yes another "prepared piano" library, this one claims to be the ultimate.  But it's included in Sonic Pass so I have installed it and it looks quite good. The "movement" patches look interesting, different preparations can be assigned to each key so some very interesting sounding arpeggios result. The "performance split" patches also make good use of the assignment feature.

The IRCAM solo instruments library was one of my favourite surprises when I got Sonic Pass, this one looks good too.

BTW, I did try to persuade the dev to release his libraries in KONTAKT format, but wasn't successful!

Acoustic Samples used to produce Kontakt libraries, I have several legacy ones.

They moved to UVI some years ago claiming poor protection from piracy with NI. Their libraries were not Kontakt player comparable so very easy to pirate.  They must have considered UVIs iLok superior protection to NI registered library system. Of course this was long before Native Access.

  7. Installed. It's quite good, the regular bass is very usable, and the synthetic layer greatly widens the pallet, the contra bass patch caught my attention,

I have it because I subscribe to Sonic Pass, not sure I would have bought it outright as I have other virtual options and a collaborating bass player.

  8. I still have Cubase 9 and I won't be upgrading as I never use it. I also have a old version of Mixbus I won't be updating.

Upgrading Cakewalk is a no brainer.

I am subscribed to Presonus Sphere. I like what they have done with the lyrics in Studio One 6. I am finding the integration between Studio One and Notion very useful, a couple of clicks and you have you full score, complete with chord ( from the chord track) and lyrics all done.

New Pan features (Dual Pan is the best addition IMO)

    Lyric Track

    Expanded Fader view

    Fader Flip

    De-Esser

These are worth the $114.21 I paid for the upgrade YMMV.

Dynamic EQ with sidechain looks very nice. It looks like there are a lot of iterative improvements too. I have a Sphere subscription, so the upgrade is included in that.
