I've seen Portal on the Xbox...my brother plays it....

Definitely check out Portal 1 & 2, Larry. They are my all-time favorite games and you can get the bundle for under two bucks when they are on sale on Steam.

Here are the end credit songs for both games (both of which make much more sense after finishing the games):

  2. I can see Mirage and Orakle X in my orders, but only Mirage in my downloads. The code works for me, but only with a single item in the cart.

Most of the Mntra stuff I own have been freebies or bought cheaper than $9.99, so I'm not actually sure how good a deal this is. :)

  3. As with the game deals, I'll post random game giveaways here under a single topic. Feel free to contribute.

    Hammerting

"Manage a clan of colourful Dwarves, establish an epic mining operation, craft legendary swords and delve deep for greater glory, riches... and danger."

Free until: The counter was at about 68 hours and 5 minutes when I posted this.
    Steam rating: Mixed
    Where to claim: https://www.gog.com/#giveaway
    Store page: https://www.gog.com/game/hammerting
Steam page (for more reviews & info): https://store.steampowered.com/app/760650/Hammerting/

Notes: The button to claim the game is on the front page of the GOG store.

  4. Quote

The Forest Quartet is a 3D narrative puzzler about a gone, but not forgotten, lead singer. Play her spirit and travel through 3 acts unique to the members of her band for a final farewell concert. Face their emotions, solve puzzles and fight the corruption plaguing their souls.

    SPIRIT POWER
Sing to interact with objects, create light with your fingertips. Glide, float, and transform into butterflies to explore the band members' psyches.

    LISTEN CLOSELY
Environments and objects add unique layers to the soundtrack. Whether it be crackling forest fires or the cold winds from the deep caverns.

    A STORY OF LIFE
Live through heartbreak and loss. Recover from grief and restore the band’s musical spark.

    A RELAXING GAMEPLAY
No written descriptions or instructions, progressively gain powers for your travels.

    Note from the developer:
The Forest Quartet is a personal and family made project. The original jazz score is composed by Mads' father, Nina is voiced by his sister, the soundtrack is performed by select musicians from The Danish Radio Big Band based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Sounds like a game for us.

  5. I don't want to spam this forum with off-topic posts, so I will make a single topic about noteworthy game deals and post them here. I will update this post with the details of each new deal and bump the topic to give it some attention. Updates will probably be pretty rare, but let me know if you want me to stop.

    The Talos Principle

    Price: 2.89 € (90% off) | 5.36 € for Gold Edition (91% off)
    Deal Expires: October 10, 2023
    Store page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/257510/The_Talos_Principle/
    https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/3042/The_Talos_Principle_Gold_Edition/

Notes: This has been an Epic Games freebie in the past so you may already have it, but if not this is a historical low. I really like the early parts of this game, but at some point it became a frustrating test of motor skills for me so I gave up on it. Still, definitely worth 3 bucks. The Gold Edition includes bonus content and two DLCs.

Marvel's Avengers - The Definitive Edition

    Price: 3.99 € (90% off)
    Deal expires: September 30, 2023
    Store page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/997070/Marvels_Avengers__The_Definitive_Edition/

Notes: People seem to think this is an okay game for the sale price. The game is on sale because official support for it is ending at the end of this month and the game will no longer be available for purchase. See details here: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/997070/view/3667674106374610648

In August, loopcloud had a promotion where they gave away Polymax, There is a promotional upgrade to the Creative Edition bundle for $99 (if the coupon doesn't show in your account and you only see a much higher upgrade price, you may need to ask support). Note that if you didn't get the free one from loopcloud, people are selling the codes for a low price in the the well known buy/sell websites. The interesting twist is that you can stack the promotional upgrade coupon with the current PULTEC50 code and get the entire Creative Edition for $49 (or $49 + the cost of Polymax)

My UAD coupon must be different, because it says "Cannot be combined with other coupons or offers." and true enough, I can't use PULTEC50 with it.

And here I was getting all excited...

A typo. I meant to type may instead of make" "they may love something that I don't even like and visa versa."

Yes, I know. I was trying to make a joke. :)

(I know my sense of humor is sometimes too subtle. Obscure, even. It's not very good, either, if I'm being honest. The deadpan delivery rarely helps.)

I don't see anyone as the ultimate authority -- they make love something that I don't even like and visa versa.

I'm not a native English speaker but I think you're missing the word "to" there. ;)

To say something on topic, I've noticed that some people seem to think that every library on Earth is, to quote, "pretty, pretty good" and others seem to think most of them are crapiola. There are also huge tracts of land between "this is really good [for my instrumental bluegrass music]" and "this is really good [for my operatic space techno death metal]".

But on an objective basis, assessing this sample library (which, despite the developer using other techniques, it is largely just a small pool of samples that creates the ukulele sound), it's just not anywhere at the level of high quality, multi-layered, multi-sample library or modeled plugins that have been on the market for the past couple of decades.

This is the kind of assessment I'd like to hear more often. We all need to make the subjective evaluation by ourselves (alas, usually after buying the library) but the technical qualities are not a matter of opinion or taste, though even there we differ on what we appreciate and need. Sometimes you just want something cheap that makes a consistent "boink" and a gazillion round robins and velocity layers would be a bad thing. :)

  9. I suppose I could start giving you guys a heads-up whenever I come across a game that is free for a limited time.

For starters, We Were Here Expeditions: Friendship is currently free on both Epic Games and Steam until 13th of October. (The original We Were Here is permanently free on Steam.)

Not an actual game, but you can get Cyberpunk 2077 & Phantom Liberty Goodies Collection for free until 25th of September. You should also check the games that are always free on GOG if you haven't already. There are some gems in there.

Probably. First time I've bought anything directly from them.

First time buyers get a percentage discount with a referral code, right? So the more you buy, the bigger the discount. In your shoes I'd consider saving the voucher for one of the bundles during the Black Friday sales.

MGuitarArchitect doesn't seem to be in any of the bundles yet, but you could ask Melda which one it's going to land in.

There’s also the even less expensive transmutator plugin which is similar. But different algorithms I think is what separates all of these, lots of youtube vids on it

I haven't tried that either, but the description makes it sound like it's intended for creating crossfades.

  12. Have any of you compared this with Melda's MMorph? Is this $89 better or are they roughly in the same ballpark?

I haven't tried either yet, but I'm looking for something that can help me create so called augmented instruments using the orchestral VIs and synths I have.

Yay! Somebody fixed the thing that they broke when they fixed the thing that wasn't broken. Great work!

This is what I usually mean when I tell people I'm self-employed.

  14. Gaah!

Sorry. Did anyone else feel weird about not being able to write posts even if you didn't have anything to say? It was like someone had put a gag in my virtual mouth.

    Some introvert I am.
