Cool track Steve, did I notice a nod to The Waitresses? lol

Not intentional - what did I copy? - I'd like to hear it.  Thank you for listening.

They Might Be Giants would buy this tune from you. Well done, always interesting throughout.

Thanks for listening and your comment!

For some reason I got a strong They Might Be Giants vibe from this, which, in my opinion, is a good thing.  I really enjoyed it.  Very inventive.

Hi Jeff - I have heard that from a few people - I am going to have to dive deeper into that band.  Thank you for listening!

I have just completed my first project where one of the tracks was recorded at a remote studio.

I recorded the acoustic guitar and vocal at my home studio using Cakewalk.

The fiddle was played and recorded by Erik Kowarski using Pro Tools at his professional studio. I recorded my first album at Erik’s Pocket Universe Studio, way back in 1996, before I setup a home studio.

Mixing and mastering was completed in my home studio using Cakewalk.

    It all worked seamlessly.

Fremantle Harbour Bound - Jane Laws (featuring Erik Kowarski)

    Nice work Jane.

Steve, your creativity knows no limits.  I love the arrangement of this tune because it's unpredictable and quirky.  I wonder if you've listened to Ben Folds, as you share some of his vision, though, yours is unique.  You're one of my favorites because I never know what to expect from you!

Hi Lynn - really nice to hear from you - thank you for the great comment, it really makes me feel good!  I try to keep things interesting through a whole song.  If I get bored, I know others will too!

Hi Steve . . . so glad I popped by this one . . . a very fun listen ! Super creative and unique, never know what's coming next kind of stuff. I particularly enjoyed some places where the guitar and bass guitar were doing a kind of exquisite jazzy interplay. Real clear recording, I can hear l lot of work went into this . . . always appreciate quality music like this !

    Bruce

Hi Bruce - thank you very much for the nice comment - I really had fun with this one, both music and lyrics.  Sometimes it is a battle to get everything done, but this one flowed.

Glad I could help 🙂         Maybe a sock puppet video ??   Only You could lock in with the vocals.

Boost the break parts and sway with the music .  You never know ..

Maybe a new niche for you       could go viral ..                    ms

Funny.  I also pictured Animal going nuts on the drums behind Kermit (and maybe miss Piggy on harmonies)

Great lyrics Steve. I like how the lyrics and music work together to make a fun song.
Not sure what it says about me but I thought the Sharon Tate part was funny.  Kind of unexpected lyric I guess.
    -Bjorn

Yeah Bjorn! - I got to that part and was going through rhymes ... rate..sate...tate.  Thought, oh I couldn't, oh I shouldn't...oh I MUST!

That's the good thing about getting old, you don't care so much about what other people think of you.  You do what is core you.

What a Wonderful song! I Loved the way you sang the first verses putting the impact in different spots. You sure packed a lot of cool instrumentation in this one .  It was light and inspirational  , and for some reason ..  I envisioned "Kermit the Frog" singing it. I hope you take that as a compliment ..     I Loved the Beatle ish quality.      mark

Now you've done it - I can't get that video of Kermit singing 'Shine when others tell you...'  and 'Maybe I'll get Henry' - I have a perfect movie running in my head!

Thanks for your comments, really appreciated.

Very nice piece. Lots of changes. Excellent mix, all instruments clear and well balanced. Agree with the message of the lyrics, gotta shine through a whole lot of uselessness that is thrown at us in life🎶🎶🎶🎶

Absolutely Larry - no sense in getting mired down in the ball of confusion that life can become.  That you for your comment.

Clever song, I like it. Wish I could write lyrics like that.

Thank you!  I usually write out a piano part for the vocal first...and one phrase sets it off.  For this one, it started with 'I see the future', and 'if I had a buffalo nickel'

  16. I like the synth style 'horn' sound.  I agree with others a little Floydish.  I was waiting for a heavy yet simple real bass to come in  (mostly whole notes), but maybe that is just more because of what Pink Floyd would do.  Nice work on theis one!
