I enjoyed that.  I never saw this particular episode, but looked it up and found that Rod Serling considered this his favorite episode from the first season.  I'll have to check it out.

Thanks Jeff I appreciate you listening.

    Really enjoyed this one!
I read the title and knew exactly what it referred to.
Nice how the lyrics match the video so well.

Hey thanks Bjorn!  It's a classic episode - I've found it sticks in your mind!

Cool tune, sounded good in my cans. Totally unexpected & opposite vibe of the episode, one of my TZ favs. (I used to enjoy leaving the tv on  all during the entire 4th of July or New Year marathons until they started chopping off more & more key parts for commercials.) -really enjoyed the track!

Thank you!  I try to catch a lot of the new year's eve airings.  It always amazes me that there is one here and there that I don't remember seeing.

Good job Steve (and an interesting back story). I thought it was a hair too fast on first listen, so I went back to listen to the original. On reflection - no - I think you have the tempo spot on.

One minor crit - the fade on the final note is just a touch abrupt to my ears, if that note could be  held or sustained for a moment more...? Not easy with staccato string parts - I do get that.

Brilliant work overall though, as always.

    Andy

Thanks Andy - I have another version coming and I will lengthen the ending a little.  As far as the speed, I use a tempo map from the original usually when I do a cover in order to get the speed accurate.

Luckily, there are low octave notes I can use to control the way notes are played.  I can sustain those ending notes longer by using that to switch from staccato.

    Steve

Update - I got rid of that click at the beginning and lengthened the end.  I don't know whether it is cached in your system since you already played it or whether you will hear the change without clearing your browser cache.  Thanks again for noticing those things!

Very nice and accurate cover.  Good work with the vocals and the string section seems to be spot on based on my memory of the song.  I was not aware of the background so I found that informative.

    Two complaints:

    (1) the track begins with a click.  My guess is this is due to the lack of silence leading into the start of the audio track.  Some players purge their buffer before starting playback and will pop or click if audio begins before the buffer finishes being purged.

    (2) The overall track volume level is high relative to other audio I listen to.  I don't know how close to 0db full scale you were shooting for but it sounded pretty close.

Having said all that, you should be pleased with the track as it's a job well done!

Darn it you are right about that click.  I was going to have someone else do the harmonies and had a count in for her.  I’ll fix that.  I think I was at 12 LUFS, but I’ll check that too.  Thanks for keeping me honest.

Hi @Lo Ke welcome to the songs forum. A couple of things to note.

    1. Standard practice is to share a link to one song.

    2. People who listen are highly unlikely to make comments by email but in the forum thread.

Your request to respond to your songs via email also looks like a potential Phishing exercise, or an opportunity to build a marketing list.

Please read the forum rules to which you agreed to when you created your profile.

Hi Wookiee - thank you for what you do to help people and keep order here in the forum!

  12. I haven't read through all the other comments yet, but I did listen.  I think the parts are alright, but the mix needs some serious love and time.  The song sounds muddy and distant.  When you are mixing, try to listen to it as though it is a whole band on stage in a great room - picture it in your mind - that will help with the panning.  Make moves that will enhance this picture.  I thought that the beat was disguised a little and not driving the song.  I don't know really how better to describe this comment, but the guitar part needs more feeling.  I would try to think about what you want the song to be about and then give the guitar another go with more passion. (not more complication, more feeling).  Hope this helps and you take it the right way!

  13. Great job!  I loved Badfinger.  Their 'Wish You Were Here' album was worn out on my turntable.  You probably know that Paul McCartney wrote this song.  Also, the band had a tragic career complete with a Yoko Eastman woman involved.   It lead to the suicide of Pete Ham - I think another member killed himself as well.
