As part of the receipt, I received a new activation serial for Groove 3. My current subscription ends in a month, and I will use it then.

For those wondering, if you input your new Groove3 serial number now, it will add the extra 12 months on top of the time remaining on your all access pass.

If someone gets that $49 upgrade, let me know what it gets you...

Just confirming that upgrading from MPS 4 to 4.1 includes another Groove 3 pass. You also receive serial numbers for Nimbus and R4 reverbs (but I think those were already included with MPS 4, so I don't think there's an extra reverb as mentioned above, unless I'm mistaken). It also provides a new serial number for Melodyne Essential 5... and of course the RX 9 standard upgrade. Also, I asked, if you simply upgrade RX from 8 to 9 for $49, would that be recognized as upgrading to MPS 4.1, for future upgrade purposes... and the answer is no. Just a warning for those considering the RX upgrade on JRR Shop for $41. I didn't see the upgrade from MPS 4 to 4.1 on their site.

Here is the response from Izotope support:

    Hi there,

Thanks for contacting iZotope Customer Care!

Yes, the MPS 4.1 includes the Groove 3 pass! You would get that if you upgrade.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

    Sincerly,

    Matt

  3. Open Kontakt

    Click on the settings cog:

    Click on Database and voilà!

Using File Explorer in Windows, under each instrument, there is a Samples folder. But I'm not sure they can be extracted for use in other VSTs. They are .NKR, NKX, NKC type files.

@Matthew Sorrels could probably answer that!

Also, don't forget about Voxengo TEOTE (not on sale; just thought I'd mention it along with the other similar plugins)

TEOTE is 30% off at the moment!

  5. I took the dive and I'm enjoying the articles.

But for those who are unaware of the Zinio model (like I was), this offer only gives you access to an electronic version of the next 12 issues. It does not provide you access to past issues or articles on the Sound on Sound website.

    New Amp

Mandarin Rocker, based on* the Orange® Rockerverb 100 MKIII.

    New Effects

Distortion > Ratatouille Dist (Mono, Stereo), based on* the 1984 Pro Co RAT. Turns out our Vermin Dist model was broken. Sorry! We were going to replace it completely but a bunch of people had presets with the old version. On top of that, we found out our RAT's LM308 chip had crapped out since we modeled it last so we decided to get it into perfect working order and start from scratch

Modulation > Retro Reel (Mono), Line 6 Original effect that simulates playing a signal back from an analog tape machine. This signal can be distorted, filtered to sound older or more lo-fi, and modulated with wow and flutter.

Delay > Euclidean Delay (Mono, Stereo), Line 6 Original delay based on Euclidean algorithms. Creates multitap patterns by setting the length of the pattern (Steps) and the number of taps (Fill) in the pattern. The Euclidean algorithm spaces taps as evenly as possible throughout the pattern, resulting in rhythms from traditional to highly complex. Settle in because this one'll require diagrams and charts and whatnot.

Reverb > Dynamic Hall (Mono, Stereo), Line 6 Original hall reverb

Reverb > Hot Springs (Mono, Stereo), Line 6 Original spring reverb

    New Features....

When you download on PC its in a ZIP File. Move that zip file where you like and unzip it. Then you see 4 folders .. each having subfolders with patches, samples etc.

Rather than going to the I add the %programdata%\Propellerhead Software\Soundbanks folder I setup a folder under Audio Data\Reason\Soundbanks and add that unzipped folder there. Previously .. When you have reason open, over in the BROWSER panel on the left where you  have Instruments, effects, utilities .. factory sounds .. This PC etc .. just drag the ( in my case ) Audio Data\Reason\Soundbanks folder to there so infuture any sound banks you add under soundbanks is accessible from the Browser Panel in Reason.

In my case i am using Reason 11 Intro. The patches dont work because:

So it looks like you need the FULL Version of Reason for this pack?

I'm in the same boat then! Shucks!

  9. I received an email last week saying that I could upgrade to version 16 for only $118! Since I haven't had time to get into the software, I wasn't going to upgrade, but if it's not going to cost anything... yes sir!!! Thanks Larry!

    Got it.

Edit. Registered and installed apparently successfully in Native Access but its not showing in the Kontakt libraries tab. It loads from the file menu.  Further investigation required.

On a very quick preview it sounds very good and could be more useful than I thought. I probably would not have bought it but I think I may use it,

Yes, the instrument is deep within my file tree. If you discover how to make Carousel appear in a main menu or in a less obscure file folder, please let us know!  : )

EDIT - It now appears in my home menu in Kontakt. I didn't do anything either so hopefully it appears for others too!

So, it can be cheaper, if you are tactical and lucky. But saying this also because that ”from any Advanced Product” should be a relief: one doesn’t always have to update to the latest bundle/suite in order to get a good price later!

Yes, the Advanced and Standard upgrades can be made from earlier versions at a fixed price, but when it comes specifically to the Music Production Suite, only the preceding version provides the best update price, while updating from an earlier version is more expensive, as demonstrated in the current offer: https://www.pluginboutique.com/meta_product/2-Effects/39-FX-Bundle/6923-iZotope-Music-Production-Suite-4

Great... now I just promoted Izotope to prove my point! They get you every time!

I'm sure you already know this Pluto, but I just want to point out to others that according to their website, upgrades will be free; new products may or may not be free depending on future decisions.

Yes, that should probably read updates will be free, rather than upgrades. They did provide TEOTE free to existing membership subscribers. But who knows what the future holds...

  13. Right now, you can get the entire Voxengo Suite, including lifetime upgrades, for $255. Cheaper directly through their website than anywhere else I think. This would include Teote, the recently released better-maker. His plugs don't look pretty but they work.

Hobbyists should beware of the Izotope model. Less than two years ago,  I bought into MPS 2.5 initially for $399 (having had an elements product). Than a year later, I got a deal from a fellow forum member to upgrade to MPS 3 for $100. And just last month, upgrading to MPS 4 cost another $199. That's $700 in two years for some incremental changes to the same package! Sure the Exponential Reverbs are nice and Groove 3 is useful but... It's not the Kontakt model where it's the same price if you skip an update or two or three... if you miss one Izotope update, you have to pay an additional $100 at least on top of the regular update price.
