I’ve definitely stacked multiple coupons, I guess not multiple “thank you” coupons, but it doesn’t seem too unlikely. I got the 1176 for $14, and have gotten a $25 coupon with every purchase I’ve ever made with them. That said, they do seem a bit spotty on who gets certain discounts etc.

I jumped on the free polymax (& at this point own quite a few other plugins) and my creative edition bundle is still $299, so who knows?! I’m liking these fire sales they are doing now, though. That’s for sure.

On the UAD forum it was mentioned that this coupon was targeted at those who don’t own an Apollo or UAD card. The was also mentioned some  subset UAD users did receive it as well.

I didn’t get one but have all the plugins so it doesn’t really matter to me :)

I own an Apollo solo and it works for me, it does seem strange it’s only working for certain people.

  3. I used to have an mbox 2 around here somewhere, maybe still do! I don’t miss it, or pro tools 7 le! 😂

    * I did manage to record lots of bad tunes with it! It was tough recording guitars with the latency between the interface and the ol dual core beast I had at the time…

What do you find made the expense worth it above the free Tux guitar?

I’ve been on guitar pro since gp5, so forgive me if my tux guitar knowledge is a bit fuzzy…I have worked with guys that were using it for putting their whole albums together and learned their workflow and it’s just what I’m used to at this point. I won’t try and sell you on it, but I guess aesthetics? You can import audio tracks with 8 as well . If you ever put together cover tracks from scratch. Export as pdfs for lessons. I would love it if you could export articulations, but it’s not too much hassle.

  5. If you’re into playing guitar,  (@ any level really) I’d say it’s worth it. I’ve been using these programs (powertab/tux/guitar pro) for too long to even remember, late 90s early 00’s , if I had to guess. Guitar pro 8 is pretty nice and the learning curve isn’t too steep. And yes, like someone mentioned you can export midi to daws for better vst/au backing tracks. Use it as a compositional tool/ use it in conjunction with a program like transcribe! for transcribing YouTube clips, etc. Lots of practice tools/chord/scale/arpeggio dictionaries.

Tons of free tabs available at ultimate guitar (although beware of the accuracy / some tweaking may be necessary)

So for $30 , I’d definitely recommend it
