I got it for $10. Their legacy products are not worth buying. I think most of that came out when people were using W98. I have all of the legacy stuff and deleted it.

I'll even save $450 on it by not buying it at all. Sometimes I feel like they really prey on our G.A.S. syndrome with those dramatic discount headlines.
Did you ever see the MSRP on everything in Guitar Center?

YOU MUST OWN THE PLUG-IN the library of patches are create for For example - the only reason why I wont buy this. I would buy more stuff to use this plugin.

HorNet plugins are definitely GAS items
Pretty much my favorite developer to to hoard plugins.
He gets teased for always having sales but Waves has just as money.
He meets every check box for users to support a developer.

We love to derail threads. Now we are into the never ending piracy threads.
I can sum it up by I have never walked in the shoes of a developer. I have no idea how I'd really react if my work was available to anyone without paying for it.
I'd be afraid to download something from a torrent site because I don't believe there is honor among thieves. What data are they stealing from you that you are not aware of.
I avoid developers who spend more time locking down their product than improving it.

I think I recall Realitone doing that with one of the libraries I have (banjo or guitar). Can't recall the price difference. I went the cheap route.
The crossgrades eventually became free. I have Blue and Ladies and I didn't have to pay for the player version.

Relating to the NI licensing I think it was ISW's decision to make it a Kontakt Player product! Many small developers create "full Kontakt" products to avoid this cost!
IMHO it is a bad thing for owners of Kontakt full, if a product is Player compatible, because this raises the price and makes installation/authorization worse (NI Access). Also the more Player products are in Kontakt, the slower it starts (I know, one could remove them manually from loaded libraries).
The Player is a form of anti piracy for larger libraries. At one time 9 Volt Audio found their Taiko 2 on sites before it was released for sale. Gigastudio lost a lot of developers because they would protect their app but not the libraries.
I'm sure some developers could state benefits of using Kontakt player and it's not just piracy.

I am quite irritated about some comments here! Why do some defend such developers that are doing shady marketing?
Are such scam strategies by the developers ethical? Aren't their prices probably too high for today's market? Andrew's logic that prices have not increased and thus they're good is foolish IMO! Everybody in this forum knows that prices on music software/samples have dropped significantly in the last 10 years! The market has changed remarkably, don't they understand this?
I don't think it was shady marketing but a mistake they found out.
Price drops in music software is a general statement, not so much with sample libraries.

Izotope messed up once and they knew it and decided to run with it.
Silence in fixing the glitch instead of attacking people.
It's a 2 way street.

It is when the company goes out of business.
Take SoundSpot for example...
Not a good one at that. I think I can still authorize Gigastudio 3 from Tascam.
I doubt no one cries over losing the Soundspot authorizations. Unfortunately online authorization is what fuels the piracy industry. Usually its only for worthwhile products.
People who use their computers for gigging need offline authorization. I guess that where dongles use to rule but stealing dongles is another forum of piracy.
I didn't mind Reason authorization since I had it one 4 machines and they app login could be filled in with Roboform and also remember your login, When my internet went out the only machine where I could run it was using their dongle.
It's getting more difficult these days to have software that doesn't need to sign in.

Melda recently bought by Image-line, who own FL studio and also bought UVI
suspect it's a 'change of approach' ?
Nope. They've been operating that way as long as I can remember.
Image-Line doesn't interfere with the companies they bought. They've stated that on their forum. FL users are disappointed that UVI didn't follow Image Line's licensing of moving away from iLok.
But we need more speculation to increase the DAW drama. Image Line left the VST market and I doubt any of the developers from Melda and UVI are involved creating parts of FL Studio. You don't see UVI or Melda in the shop unless it's some rare special.
The only thing holding Melda back is the resources on how to use them. Reaper was like that at one time.

ISW is a great company indeed. Not giant like Native Instruments but great notwithstanding. I think it’s a good thing to acknowledge their thoughts on this.
Especially the Bandlab forum members are evil thieves.

I avoid because I would buy more stuff and totally ignore the how to articles. I've been doing the for ages with CM and Beat.
