There was one particular venue I used to go to a fair bit and I'd gotten to the point where I thought it must be the venue acoustics or something that was responsible for the bass heavy, muddy sound because almost everyone seemed to sound that way, I'm talking major bands f the time, so you'd think they would have pro sound guys who knew their stuff, but then I saw Earth, Wind and Fire in the same venue and it was probably the best sound that I've ever heard anywhere.

    So it wasn't the venue.......

I got to see Alice Cooper and Motley Cure.  Crue was too loud and I though maybe those sound guys are clueless, deaf, or using ear protection used on runways.  Some of us were born before the louder is better era,

I used to play the Love album to death when it came out, but thought they were a bit disappointing live tbh - sound quality wasn't great though, so maybe more to do with that than the performance itself.

It's often that way with live performances.  There use to be this small venue in Scottsdale, AZ where you could see many famous band that got started in the 80's, I'm  sad it shut down and it wasn't due to covid.  They were in the city and wasn't a really good location for it.  They decided not to renew their license.

  3. This should be moved out of deals.  We tend to abuse that part of them forum. It should be about what should we lay our cash down,

I thought this was going to be about Waves or IK.

Gretsch guitars are very nice, and have been around for a very long time.  They were made famous by Chet Atkins.  The hollow bodies were used primarily by fingerstyle players.

My dad's had two of them since the mid 60's (both double anniversaries). My younger brother now plays one too.

Of the newer models, personally I prefer the sound of the Electromatics over the cheaper Streamliners.

Most Grestches use filtertron pickups, which is their own version of the humbucker (they were developed at around the same time, and there's some debate as to which was invented first).  To my ears, they're not as dull sounding as humbuckers, but also not as hot.

Personally, I've never liked the Gretsch much for distorted sounds or metal/rock playing, but they're great for country, jazz or anything clean sounding.  I'm not saying you can't use them for rock (as plenty of people do), but I've never got quite the sound I wanted from them for that genre.

In saying that the Jet series are solid / semi-solid bodies, and worth a try if you're going for a more traditional electric sound but want something that is still very different from your standard Strat or LP sound.

I don't like the trems on them.

Strange: on Mac I was told 3 EZKeys MIDI packs needed updating. On the PC it was the same but also EZKeys itself required updating. It's ever so slight that I missed doing an update of EZKeys on the PC but I'm pretty diligent about updating both at the same time.

Some of those updates I had were only because I didn't install the 32 bit versions.

Just because something isn't "Broken" doesn't mean that you don't continue to develop
the product and make it better....that mentality is insane...

Unfortunately many developers these days tend to break things and I often question if they ever try their apps.  I see this more often in gaming and also Windows.  Luckily the DAW industry doesn't have a lot of half ***** development.

Yes, I've used vouchers very month for over a year now.  Not sure what I spent to get here but I'm now on the $50 voucher plan (which I mentieond in another thread feels like a major downgrade)

I need to get to the point of passing on these "amazing" deals.  It's east on Waves stuff since I don't like their licensing.  I have everything IK, Kilohearts, Melda.  I never really get to far in anything to actually use any of this stuff.  No reason to add any synths since I have all of the popular stuff.   These remarks are always a resounding gong that hopefully open my ears one day.  It seems something like a car repair brings a hint of perspective but even that is temporary.

I did not mean to suggest otherwise.

Humble Bundle is an outlet where Magix software has been sold at deep discount from time to time. I've acquired several Magix products there myself, including a version of Acid, albeit not the version that you use. They may in the future offer more deeply discounted Magix software, which might include an updated version of the program you want. The products they offer are usually a revision behind whatever the current release is.

Just curious if anyone has ever used the Music Maker products that come with these bundles?

Keep your eye on the Bundle that is Humble. I scored Studio 11 in a Magix Bumble Hundle a while back.

The $20 deal came from B&H.  I have no use for the Studio version.

    @kevin H loooooooool that was brilliant 😂

I'm already downloading and upgrading more than making music today. Starting with the dreaded Windows 10.

    I see glitches... everywhere glitches...

That's actually a genre.  One could start there.

    Yep.

I never thought I would outgrow the 1tb SSD sample drive I am using, but....

    I am

I have started using my 1tb Intel 660 M.2 as a secondary Sample dive.

It's gotten to the point for PC gamers that a 1TB drive is almost needed for the OS.

I'm thinking of getting a SATA controller and adding 1TB SSDs and you can duct tape those inside.

It takes discipline to take inventory and remove items we don't use.  Marketing libraries is always about size.  How stuff in Komplete does one use?

IMHO this is the wrong signal to NI! Instead they should employ better software engineers that are capable to make more efficient code! I noticed that all their newer stuff is a resource hog, also the FX. In general I am sure that 90% of today's software could be improved that it would only use a 100th to a 10th of the resources!

I think these are few these days.  You see it in all software even in phone apps.

Yep. You can’t get the original HO anymore, nor the Hollywood Solo Violin, Harp or Cello. They’re all part of HOOPUS now.

It's pricey for me.  Meanwhile all of my 8dio stuff is installed on 3 systems ready to load up with no gotchas.
