  1. Next is still in Beta. Next forum on Discord is meant to be handling user feedback, including bugs and crashes. As John Vere states there seems to be little feedback from devs  when you report an issue. But that's the place to do it. Discord is a major shambles unfortunately (to me anyway)

I get the same error with Tonocracy  in Next. It runs fine in Cakewalk CbB.

I am hopeful for Next as I dont need the advanced/complex features of CbB/Sonar. All other instruments/plugins I've tried in Next seem to work without issue including  Amplitube and other amp sims.

  2. BitBridge enables the use of 32-bit VST effects and instruments in SONAR's 64-bit environment

I believe P5antom.dll gets installed as part of Project 5 and is a 32 bit instrument - GrooveSynth I think.

Whether these things are compatible within Cakewalk By BandLab or new Sonar I have no idea. Others will probably be able to clarify I'm sure.

edit: Have you recently installed Project 5 by any chance?

  3. I think it might have something to do with Arranger templates now being the top item in the bottom part of the list. I've noticed the same problem for some time. Probably starting with the inclusion of the new Arranger feature. It looks like it defaults to the top item in the list - previously Audio Library - until you reset it. But you have to do that in each project and save, as its a per project setting. You dont need to navigate directories to reset so - just select Audio Library from the dropdown list.

Very novice user here.  Just updated to 2023.09 as it stated it will be the last update and application must be updated to this release in order to ensure it will activate in the future. "

The message that comes up is "Early Access Available (2023.09 EA). Nothing about application must be updated to this release. Its just notification of a chance to try out the forthcoming last release before the official release. Its a chance for users to check for bugs etc. So it's entirely possible this version will get further updates before final release.

  5. Does this problem just apply to plugins that are already loaded in a project? If you try adding a new synth track or just a new(different) effect to a track does the plugin UI window open?  If it does, then the multi screen thing is a very likely cause of this problem and  the plugin windows are there but hidden on another (possibly now missing) screen. Have you had any extra device plugged into the video output? Video projectors count and I think some graphics tablets might as well.

Could Display resolution / text size settings in windows system settings play a part in this? Anyone?   Has that changed at all?

  6. Scook and bitflipper are spot on (as ever) with their comments.  However, just a thought ....

So the OP doesnt actually specify what they are currently using to play back the orchestral midi files. If its the Microsoft GS Wavetable or TTS1 then you can definitely improve on those sounds without necessarily spending large sums of money. There are cheap/free options that may be good enough and definitely worth a try. I really like the free BBC SO Discover from Spitfire. https://www.spitfireaudio.com/bbc-symphony-orchestra-discover

  7. I'm using the same interface. I use it for everything audio - On board audio is disabled.

    I. set samplerate in Focusrite  to 48000

2.Set samplerate in Windows audio settings to 48000

The only time on my system that samplerate gets changed back to 41000 is if I run Amplitube v4 in standalone mode. It defaults to 41000 and seems to stick with it. Amplitube v5 is fine.

  8. According to Positive Grid you just need online access to activate Bias FX and from then on online access is not required to use the software as a plugin or standalone.

However,  I've experienced recent problems running Bias FX when internet access was down. The PG website has lots of users complaining about the same thing.  There is speculation that Windows Update 2004 has affected licensing for Bias FX (and possibly some other products, according to one user) and you may have to re-activate.  It slipped back into demo mode on my system while internet was down. I had to re-activate when internet came back up. Hopefully, that's a one off - we'll see.

  9. External cd drive is a good option if you already have  cd's  containing the tracks you want to reference.

    Otherwise -

    1. Buy the mp3 download

    or

    2. Record the output from Spotify/Youtube  with Audacity to create wav/mp3,  Audacity is  free and reveals a loopback driver option (on my system) that lets you record whatever audio is currently playing.   Quality would plenty good enough for a reference track (for me anyhow).

  10. Have you checked in Preferences:Metronome that things are set up correctly?  If you are using the audio metronome it needs to have a valid output - either direct to interface out or to an available bus.  So check that routing before going down the whole re-install palava.

Presumably, midi metronome would need to have a valid midi device to output to. (not that I ever use that option)

  11. Digging deeper ..... (I'm fairly sure that what I said originally was what I observed, however....)   what I'm seeing now is that on a split synth track whichever track text box has been edited, that text box  alone does not get updated by replace synth. This can lead to even more confusion  visually (for me, anyway) .  But the behaviour does at least seem to be consistent.

  12. I did a little digging on this.  If the track is a simple instrument track then the text field does not get updated by "Replace synth" if it has been edited.  However, if you are using split tracks for synths then text field for both tracks get updated regardless of whether they have been edited or not. I suspect this may be by design.

You actually don't need to do this. Look, I had exactly the same problem, don't worry, it is a very simple fix. First of all, you should look for the path the Cakewalk templates (.cwt) are gonna be in. Usually there are two  paths, "C:\Users\blah\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core" and "C:\Cakewalk Content\Cakewalk Core\Project Templates". If there are no templates in either of these folders, they have to be somewhere else in folders related to Cakewalk by bandlab. If you you cannot find them no matter what, You can download them from here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1y3ZR47tGki_J34-t4FSqff0ffwVTCE8G?usp=sharing

After having downloaded them, you can choose a folder to put them in, whether it is one of Cakewalk's default folders (the ones above), or whichever you want to put them in.

And here is the important part you should not forget! After putting the templates in your selected folder, you should open Cakewalk with the Bandlab assistant and ignore the empty "New Project" tab . Then go to preferences, and under the file section, go to folder locations. There you can select the path to your templates in the Templates selection. After clicking "Apply" and then "Close" and then restarting the daw, the templates should be showing up where the are supposed to every time you opne the program.

I hope this was helpful... If you solved your problem, you can now make great music and have fun!

    Yours faithfully,

    Dj Jossy

Thanks for posting this Jossy.  Very helpful download.

It seems my Project Templates folder and contents went missing in the last few days. My suspicion leans towards installing and then uninstalling  CakewalkProject5 (.. it was late ... I was bored and feeling nostalgic) . Cant think of anything else I've done that could have had any impact on Cakewalk related content other than updating to latest version.

  14. The settings in Audio preferences are slightly different between Sonar and Cakewalk BD.  I seem to recall that ShareDriversWithOtherPrograms  has the opposite effect than what you might have expected. I would try unchecking that option.  You should also make sure that sample rate is consistent between Sonar/Cakewalk and windows.

Any particular reason for using Sonar rather than Cakewalk Bandlab ?
