You tacked this on to a thread from 2019.  Much has happened since 2019, especially in the past several months that affected TTS-1's inclusion in the current build of CbB (Cakewalk by Bandlab).

See the following thread.  If you have an older version of CbB, perhaps you can find TTS-1.  Not sure if you only have a version after which TTS-1 was dropped.

In either case, the 2024 thread would be a better place to ask for help than a 2019 thread.

As someone else said a long time ago - much todo about nuthin...

    Per https://www.cakewalk.com/sonar#FAQ

I've heard that you can prepurchase Sonar if you're willing to use Bitcoin and that upon release a unicorn will personally deliver your copy.
I dunno... but it does sound more plausible that many of the reasons/arguments that are currently being espoused.

It's a shame we can't do multiple emoji's.   I'd do a "Like" emoji for the much ado reference; a "Good idea" emoji for referring people to the FAQs; a "Thanks" emoji for choosing a relevant quote that those with blinders on seem to be missing (some intentionally so); and an "LMAO" emoji for the brilliant Bitcoin/Unicorn allusion that for me gets at the speculation / imagination some people are responding to instead of the facts.

Wondering if Bandlab would consider open sourcing "Cakewalk by Bandlab"  once Cakewalk Sonar is released.    I believe that there would be a lot of interest in having it maintained and continued effort on bug fixes and improvements

If you are serious, why don't you make an offer / suggestion to Bandlab (the owner)?  JMO: opinions of users in a forum are meaningless for an issue like this.

I cannot imagine anything good for anyone coming out of open sourcing Cakewalk by Bandlab.

I found the whole Discord platform to be a lot of people screaming about really nothing to do with any products.

Are you talking about Discord in general or specific Servers?  I ask because any of the Servers I was on were very targeted, even the ones I left after deciding they were not for me.

Hello.  I'm trying to figure out how to record Korg M50 combi sounds to Cakewalk.  If you're familiar with the Korg, there are prog and combi sounds.  I know how to record prog sounds (midi) but the combi sounds are composed of multiple sounds.  I tried recording to an audio track but it crashes Cakewalk.  To record in midi, I believe I'd need to create a separate midi track for each individual sound that comprises the combi sound, but I'm just not sure.  So I'm reaching out to all the pros out there to help out an extreme amateur.   Thank you very much.

    This and these?

If you have an older synth, try this which covers a lot of models, and it just might suit you.

If the synth you have is in here, you can create a new ins for just that synth from this file too, simply by deleting the unnecessary stuff.  You do have to be careful not to delete any needed text for it to work, and I haven't done this in years, so I'm afraid I can't help with that!

Based on size alone, this matches the Roland.ins file I have from 2003.  I have a larger one from 2009 and a slightly larger one from 2010. In my experience with other Cakewalk supplied *.ins files, later ones usually include the contents from the older files.

Before people start collecting a new set of *.ins files (and maybe overwriting larger, later, more inclusive ones), maybe someone should should check the newer *.ins files against the new old ones being posted.

PS:  If someone wants to do a comprehensive comparison of older *.ins files with newer ones, I also have a Roland.ins file from 1998.

  8. The E-Mu file is at least 2 decades old.  E-Mu user groups since then used to have a contributed ins file that included definitions for all of the P2K Sound ROMs. Not sure if newer E-Mu user groups archived those, but they are available.  Also, there are some P2K / Command Station editor / librarians that can generate *.ins files--useful for User Banks.

I should have known Larry would have beaten me - I just posted the same in the Cakewalk sub forum! Still there will be a few people there who don't look here and a lot more who look here but don't look there 🙂

I saw it there and commented.  There's no harm in having it in multiple places. There are some people who don't go to the Deals Section or The Coffee House. As you note, there are some who would benefit from CCLarry calling this video to their attention.

Also, the Coffee House and Deals Forum often go into tangents which are appropriate in those forums, but might be a distraction from the value of Mike's tutorial in a Cakewalk forum.  To me competition over who posted a deal first is an appropriate Coffee House topic.  By the same token, sometimes someone will post a video in the Tutorial sub forum that might not be noticed by other Cakewalk users.

  10. I like that he goes over features that I don't usually use / haven't explored, but might now that I see he pointed them out. Also, nice that he highlights some of the new features. Glad to see the content is about Cakewalk's features and not secondary to his personal preferences for another DAW.

You're absolutely right in questioning it.

    I think it's merely the perception of value. . . .

Basically my f-ed up math is: Starting with 9, price was  ~4.5 per plugin . . . .

    Thanks for the clarification.

BTW I don't think your math is "f-ed up" at all.  I do a very similar comparative thing with IK.  If I have already paid multiple times to "own" 90-95% of a bundled set of products and someone owns just one of those, their cost per new product is a very tiny percent of my cost per product I don't have.

For X units of currency, I might get 4-5 products I don't already have, but for the same amount of money, others get 150+ products they don't already have. Therefore the deal is worth more (i.e., more valuable) to others than to me who already paid 2 to 3 times as much for the products.

So, to me, it's brilliant, sound consumer-oriented logic! 😉 And it helps me to not spend money that could be better spent!

That's too bad. I was hoping Ultimate owners would get it included like Melda and Kuassa does. I'm still curious about the decision to give everything away for free but the "premium" plugins. Their previous sales model was worked splendidly on me while it lasted...

The last I checked, Ultimate Bundles for Third-Party Voltage Modular developers also include new modules at no extra charge. There are only a few developers that have Ultimate Bundles and also make new modules (I counted three), but this is another precedent to including new modules.

In addition, some third-party VM developers have smaller targeted bundles (which are included in the Ultimate Bundle) and when new modules are added, they also get added at no extra charge to the respective lesser bundles, much like Melda does.

KV331 Audio does the the same thing with their Synthmaster Everything Bundle.

One of the hard lessons I've learned is that similar bundle labels from various companies that might imply some sort of completeness do not have similar consumer-oriented practices.  JMO: It is a great service that forum members provide by helping others to see this.

99 upgrade here from Collection 9, despite (stupidly?) having bought Acid V separately on release and thinking it would lower the upgrade price a decent amount. Guess not.

If the default is 199 from 9 to X, then that simply seems a bit steep.

Not sure I understand your situation. If the only thing you added to V Collection 9 was Acid V and your upgrade price is now 99 instead of 199, you got a 100 off.

    • V Collection 9 Upgrade

Two offers for me.  Not sure what the difference is between the two, but they are both beyond my budget.

I think maybe the $299 offer is from V Collection 9, and the $199 is from V Collection 9.  😜

. . . . not sure why people are going on and on about the pricing?

From what I have seen there are a number of reasons covering a wide range of motives.  But I'm saving up my thoughts for an April Fools' Day post.  🤪

As excited as I am about the next phase of Cakewalk/Sonar/this DAW I have spent 20 years tangled up with, I am encountering a problem.

Does anyone have this problem? I try to log in to the Command Center, my password long forgotten, what with never expecting it to have to return, and I ask for the password reminder/reset, and NOTHING HAPPENS. Indeed, the tiny blue wheel is still turning on this my fifth attempt.

    Thoughts?

Which version of the Cakewalk Command Center do you have?  I have the version that was installed with CakewalkCommandCenterSteup_1.1.8.1.  It works just fine here.  As I recall previous versions stopped working to due to website changes (that is, when older stuff was moved to an area designated as "legacy").  The new was posted so we could access the same content but in the new "legacy" location. (See below.)

If you have the current Command Center software, contact customer support to see if then can reset your password.

Final thought: If you have a Rolodex (or similar system), you might want to keep track of you passwords there.  Then the problems become (1) remembering what things are filed under, (2) reading your own handwriting, and (3) age related finger stiffness that make thumbing through the cards increasingly painful.

It seems from comments on the BeatBuddy support forum that Cakewalk may not be including a MIDI status message (FF 58 04?) in the exported file to set time signature.

I didn't analyze the complete midi test files derived from my basic *.cwp test file, but (1) the Save As Midi 0 file, (2) the Export Midi 0 file, and (3) the Export Groove Clip file, all contained the same Time Signature meta data bytes. I'll let someone else analyze the other differences if they want.

5 hours ago, Theodore Kloba said:

I have to do Export rather than Save As.  The BeatBuddy works with a combination of short Intro/Loop/Transition/Fill segments that you control with the foot pedal.  Save As writes the whole song as one file.

This makes sense and helps explain why BeatBuddy might have more success with exported Groove Clips. Glad to hear you found a solution that meets your needs.

I bought the pass to see what wonders were in store.  Pretty underwhelmed so far and not really interested in Bandlabs other services. I'm going to reacquaint myself with Reaper and cancel subscription to Bandlab  . I've used Cakewalk since it was midi only.  I maybe have a romanticised view of how great it was,  but I don't see anything new in this new  Sonar,  so R.I.P Cakewalk Sonar 😥

I don't know how you get from being not interested in Bandlab's other services to R.I.P. unless you have made some assumptions about what the product and pricing options will be when the new products are ultimately released for sale.  Of course, there's been a rash of speculation going around.

Hi everyone, so I'm using a USB audio device. I was able to hear perfectly from it until I disconnected my MIDI device (my keyboard).

Once I disconnected it, not only could I no longer hear my piano, but I couldn't hear anything through cakewalk either. I was able to once again hear my piano by resetting it, but I'm not sure what to do in cakewalk.

My settings are all properly put in. I have the output and input settings on what they should be. Once I change the output to my regular computer speakers, I can hear it just fine. My actual computer settings say that I'm connected to the USB audio device and that the sound is working properly. Cakewalk also registers all audio, it's just not coming through.

Does anyone know what I can do about this? I'm sure it's a MIDI issue.

    This sounds familiar.

  19. Is it possible the BeatBuddy's real time Time Signature mode setting changes how BeatBuddy treats SMF Time Signature meta data?

    Quote
    • SMF Time Signature Meta Data
      • FF 58 04 07 03 0C 08
      • FF 58 04 01 03 0C 08
      • FF 58 04 03 02 18 08
      • FF 58 04 01 02 18 08
      • FF 58 04 0F 04 06 08
      • FF 58 04 01 04 06 08
      • FF 58 04 02 02 18 08
      • FF 58 04 04 02 18 08

The above is the result of a very simple test file I just did in CbB which I Saved As as MIDI File Type 0.

There are many online resources that explain the meta markers for standard midi files.  Here's one for the time signature meta data.

    Quote

The following is an example of a MIDI time signature meta message.

    0xFF 0x58 0x04 0x04 0x02 0x18 0x08

The status byte 0xFF shows that this is a meta message. The second byte is the meta type 0x58 and signifies that this is a time signature meta message. The third byte is 4, which means that there are four remaining bytes. The fourth byte is 0x04, which means that the time signature numerator is 4. The fifth byte is 0x02, which means that the time signature denominator is 2^2 = 4. The sixth byte is 0x18, which is 24 decimal, and means that the metronome will click once every 24 MIDI clocks. The seventh byte is 8, which means that there are eight 32nd notes per beat.   [from https://www.recordingblogs.com/wiki/midi-time-signature-meta-message]
