    Thanks for listening and commenting.
John B - The movie came out in 1959 so yeah I was around.

  2. Leadfoot

I could tell by the waveform that the mellow part at the beginning would soon get a lot less mellow but I didn't expect the AC/DC rock n roll energy. I like the "heaven is a little bit louder" which tells me something about your dad. I'm guessing you're a chip off the old block.  Outstanding performance and guitar playing!

  3. Very pleasing interplay of lead gtr and backing guitars makes for a relaxing afternoon. I listened to some of your other tracks and they're all very good, esp River Ride that you posted a while ago.

  4. Hawk, I really like this and I think Emily would have too. 😁   Great idea to use a well structured poem to build a song upon and you and your collaborator did this very well. I couldn't make out the lyrics in several places but I have more trouble with that than most listeners I think. All in all, a great song!

  5. Bob, thanks for the nice comments. I never actually saw the movie (heard a lot about it tho) until I downloaded it for this project. It's a bad movie for sure, but it's certainly not a boring one!

Freddy, thanks for taking the time to comment.  Dr. Paul Bearer, huh?  Yeah, the movie is beyond cheesy but can't really say it's the worst movie ever. Bad movies are the ones you exit the theater from before they end, but not so with Plan 9.

kakku, thanks again for your comments.

I wanted to use an Omnisphere Theremin patch so I came up with this.
It's just some spacey music with dialog from the worst movie ever made "Plan 9 From Outer Space"
I downloaded the movie from the Prelinger Archives after finding out it's public domain so not a problem (I think) to use bits of dialog.

How do you insert a link such that the song plays right here in this box and doesn't switch over to Sound Cloud?  I can never get it to work.  Thanks.

I like the steady groove in the background - piano, drums, bass - that supports the vocal. And then you add in the horns for a jazzy kind of sound.   Really nice break at 2:28 that transitions back to the main theme perfectly. Well done.

  8. Pretty impressive modular system.  Kind of have to get into the right mood to appreciate the music/sounds.  The video is well done and complements the music very well. Reminds me of NI Reaktor instruments.

    Steve,
I cringed when I listened to my voice on this song, but I sent it out anyway because it just wasn't getting any better.  Probably should have tried a lower key to lose the whispers, but wouldn't have worked anyway. I can phrase words pretty well in text but in spoken words not so much and that becomes obvious in a recording. Anyway, I appreciate the comments about the quality of the song which means a lot to me.

  10. "Amalgam" seems to fit. Nice buildup at the beginning.  I really like the groove starting ~0:30. Might be too many different instruments IMO. Kind of wish the phrase that begins ~2:35 were developed more - you could make a new song out of that.
I like the song. Well done.

  11. Bill, thanks for listening and commenting.

Lynn, thanks again for your input. It's a sad song with a well worn ending, but when it happens to you it becomes way more than just a cliche. I agree about the phrasing which is something I deal with in my everyday speech. Bit of a problem for me.

  12. Sounds like the music during the opening credits of a creepy movie (might need more minor chords tho)
I like how you set up the song with that steady bass and a different piano phrase every four measures.  I listened to some of your other tracks on your site too. Good stuff!

Not sure if I'd categorize this as EDM. Seems more a mixture of styles  but that's ok. That melodic part that comes in at about 0:20 and other places seemed kind of familiar to me.
Very good tune.  I played it a few times and really got in to it.

I'm used to thinking Yo Yo Ma when I hear cello but you gave the instrument a new direction. Excellent performance and mix. I didn't think the song sounded too bassy at all.
