  1. Unfortunately I too have problems with 2021.01 (build 86) and AZ Controller like @Heinz Hupfer mentioned above.

After a couple of fader or knob movements Cakewalk reacts sluggish when using my Control Surfaces, e.g. to select a track I have to press the corresponding button 2 or 3 times instead of one; MIDI values for volume, pan, send etc. don't respond correctly to knob and fader movements like before.

Refresh Frequency setting is 75ms and Allow10msControlSurfaceRefresh flag is not used.

Rolling back to version 2020.11 works, no problems with my controllers and AZ Controller.

    Best,
    Klaus

  2. I don't know if this is intended but it could lead to confusion I think:

    SRwG2tR.gif

A range in the Time Line from start to the end of an Articulation gets selected by clicking on the MIDI track.

It's not harmful because it wouldn't select a Clip by accident but a bit irretating if e.g. you are used to click on empty space between clips to cancel a selection.

  3. Just an observation:

Adding an own image (via Notes > Artwork) for a Project Template, which then will show up in Start Screen for New Projects works like Scook mentioned if you save the Project Template under a new name but only by overwriting the existent template name.

Only changing the existing name by left-clicking into the name (e.g. adding a suffix like "My Super-Duper Template" to "My Super-Duper Template - 02" without typing everything new) doesn't work i.e. the added image will not show up under New Projects.

Small difference but maybe a reason why it doesn't work for everyone, depending on your "renaming" habit.

I just got RX 7 recently and was having problems with Connect. Glad I found this page! So I did some test using both methods for sending files.

The Process Effect way only seems to work the first time. Then somehow I no longer get the shell window with Connect inside it and the option for me to click OK anymore. Instead it opens the module the same way it would open if I added it as an effect. I do get the option to click reference or repair, but no preview button or anything else. Nothing seems to happen and it doesn't open RX. When I open RX manually it opens an empty wav file. It seems Connect sent a file but didn't capture the audio. So in RX it is just an empty file.

When I use the Tool Editor (thanks to scook), It works every time. However there are a few things to consider for this to run smoothly as intended. I noticed some odd behavior by RX each time I use this method. When RX opens up it gives an error saying that it cannot use the session data folder anymore and to change it. Not true. I confirmed that it uses it just fine when comparing it to opening RX outside of Cakewalk. My guess is that it says this because the file is opened through Cakewalk via the Temp folder and not the traditional "File > open" method that you would use if you opened a file through the program itself. So you can do all your edits as normal but make sure to click save. This is because cakewalk exports a wav file to the Temp folder and RX uses that file to edit. If you don't save Cakewalk wont get the changes. So after you saved the file DO NOT close RX. Go to File > Close File. THEN you can close RX. Then when you go to Cakewalk it will notice the file it exported changed and will ask you if you want to update your track with the changes. Why close file then close RX you may ask? Because if you don't, RX behaves as if it closed accidentally and when you open RX again for example outside Cakewalk, it re-opens the session and says it cant find the original file (which it is not supposed to anyway hence "Temp" folder). All this does is waste disk space because it doesn't delete the contents of Session Folder which is RX's Temp folder. So you could imagine this taking up a lot of space overtime saving ALL your sessions since you first used it. If you close the file before closing RX, it deletes the contents of it's Session Data folder so it starts brand new when you open it again whether standalone or through Cakewalk. This is how it is supposed to act.

I hope this information helps anyone that may use RX but is confused about what is happening. Use the Tool Editor to add RX as a menu item and use that method for editing through Cakewalk, ignore the error and save and close file. Then you should be good. :)

The error message about the session data folder will stop if you add a RegionFlag=0 to the registry:

It's mentioned in this thread (old Sonar Forum):

    http://forum.cakewalk.com/Adding-iZotope-RX-to-the-SONAR-Tools-list-m1849148.aspx#1850413

See post # 12 (and ignore the last post # 22)

    Works great!

  5. If you want to keep the length of an extended MIDI clip, you have to switch to

    Non-Destructive MIDI Editing

in Preferences -> Customization -> Editing -> MIDI

Otherwise moving/duplicating a MIDI clip will always truncate the length of the clip to the end of the last MIDI note.

I'm getting distortion when I record (for example) interface channels 1 and 2 as dual mono tracks in CbB.  I do not get this distortion using Reaper or Studio One.  I have found it true with any pair of interface channels seen to CbB as a stereo pair.

Be sure that Remove DC Offset During Record
in Cakewalk Preferences -> Audio -> Playback and Recording
    is unchecked.

  7. Just did a test and can't reproduce your problem.

C6-Sidechain (VST3 version) inserted in an FX Rack of a bus.
Audio Tracks show "C6-SideChain" as an available Send.

Although you wrote it already, but are you sure you used the SideChain version?

  8. You're using the "Insert Send" menu which just shows the available outputs and not which output is already assigned to a Send.
Therefore, if you click "Vocals" shown in your picture, you'll add a second "Vocals" Send.

If you want to reassign an existing Send, click on the name of the Send.

I have found that select all has to be done on the project.

    No, that's not necessary.

With nothing selected, every track and bus routed to the source of your export choice (a summing Masterbus or Hardware Output) will be included,
the length of the exported project file is defined by the longest track or last Clip/Event in the Timeline.

Here is a Gif on an empty project. latest CBB update. Win 10.  And yes I am holding the Ctrl key whilst moving the input gain knob

PS - It doesn't work on Tracks wither so it's not just a Buss issue. The only thing it WILL do is pop open all Pro Channels in the Console.

Looks like you are using the mouse scroll wheel to change the input gain.

That doesn't work with Quick Groups, you have to click and drag the knob (or faders) while holding down CTRL key.

    I have same problem.

IN prefferences the vst scan runs better than with manual scan.

But it crashes at Kinetic metal from Native Instruments. I cannot remove that plugin because in Fruity loops it works.

I dont understand why it crashes when scanning a vst folder while other programs ( fruity loops dont(.

From what I tried the Cakewalk  like it more than Fruity loops and I would like to switch to Cakewalk

But Cakewalk have some problems. Like fewer vst instruments available form the same directories.

"Kinetic Metal" is a Kontakt library, not a VST(i) plug-in.

Don't add library paths to the VST Scan Path in Cakewalk, only paths where the actual plug-ins are installed.
