  1. I didn't read all your messages, just the first and some,

    But I have:

Cakewalk Sonar Platinum (latest, with all the plugins)

    CbB

    Presonus Studio One 3

    Steinberg Cubase 9.5 Pro

I've tried to use S1 and QB but  I cant work and enjoy at the same time. Those are great if you know the flow in them, but for me, Cakewalk it the one I know and can use. Mind you that knowing the DAW does not makes one makes better music. Just that one do it with less swear words and more smiling.

  2. Hi, I have been looking into this for many years and have always gone for the Martin guitar in Dimension Pro.

Not that it is the best, but because I can’t find any other that is better. But if you listen to this thing I am working on now, you hear that the Martin guitar sample is not good enough. the strings sound like they are on their own, not together on a guitar. For backup pluck, it can be ok, but for the base in the music, it is not.

Do you have any samples you use for such works? I use Kontakt Pro so nice if it is based on it.

And yes, I could record the guitar myself, but I don’t have an acoustic with good enough sound... And Ibanez guitar is not good enough if tis not one of the top lines, made for this. My Acoustics are made for stage with feedback reduction.

I really love your vocal, expressive and meaningful. Drums for me work ... but then again ( 'cause your a metal man at heart) a bit too high in the mix. So much feeling here ... she must be in your heart 'cause you hear it in your voice.... the rest of this needs a pro ...  it's a bit of work that needs their ears and experience ... keep it, and come back to it when it's fresh again.

That said ...  I love this muchly mate

    SupaReels

    Thanks.

Yeah. If I will release it  I have to.

Its not a known issue. Please follow these instructions to capture a dump file for the hang and send me the link so we can know what is hanging.

I have no plugins folder in the mididump folder.

I like this, I played it for my wife and she really liked, she said it's a good summer song.

reminded her a little bit of Siouxie and the Banshees, which is a huge compliment...

    Thank you!

  6. I am producing a track now.

The track needs this live feel, so I don’t want to squeeze the sound out of it, but do you guys hear any on your speakers?

Artist is Stine Grytøyr, and she wants to get feedback from as many as possible before we go further. Yeah, she asked me to check what you guys say about the mix.

So, I don’t break any with posting this. Might be deleting the version on SoundCloud later tho. And also all versions when releasing...

awesome, thanks for being so cool about it.

i really like the sound of the lead guitar, are you using a Boss DS-1 distortion unit? the harmonic notes you're hitting sound sweet..

Lead is a Boss Overdrive into a Mesa Tripple Racrifier i Cakewalk. All are AmpliTube. But I play lead with my buitar straigth to my monitores and that pick up this almost feedback that makes it sing more. I also use Modern Ch3, usually I use Vintage,

  8. With the piano I will try to fix that later today.

But I made a mix with the Vocal Track dubbing thing from Sonar...

And I put on some harmony on the guitar solo.

    So, the thing to do now is;

    1. Sort out piano sound

    2. Record better BG Vocals.

And about the vocal. I think I captured the moment there and need to keep it for this version. I must re-record It to make it "good enough" for a release.  I know my English is more Norwenglish than English, but that was in a way intentional too, to play on my Viking charm. And I have fixed enough of the bad points.

Another point to make is that it is really hard to produce my own vocal. I don’t know, but I really don’t like to listen to myself that much. Lol. So, I have no Idea of how other think of it. I only hear every fault, you know, so I am really happy about honest answers here. But for a release I think I will practice for months to build up voice better. Just warming up now, makes me lose my falsetto, and I need to worm up for the other parts…

I listened to the first version a bit, then compared to the second mix. The 2nd mix is headed in the right direction.

Cool tune, cool origins! From the heart, obviously. Congrats on that!

Mixwise, I agree with Lynn, a better piano (something with more dynamic range) might help, particularly in the naked intro.

I think you could easily go to the chorus, reach for the piano fader, and drop it one or 2 db. The piano is kicking the crap out of your vocal. I can tell you lowered it a bit for the second mix? You are on the right track.

    The guitars sound great!!!

cheers, have you played it for her yet?

    Thank you so much.

I enjoyed the song, Øyvind! 2nd mix is definitely better. As far as doubling the vocals, a doubler will work, but it sounds so much better if you actually resing the tracks. I usually will sing two extra tracks. Pan the main one up the middle, the drop the other two tracks about 10-15db, and pan them 30% left and 30% right. Try it man, I think you'll like the results. Great song though!

    Thank you!
