  1. Watching AI doing something called music creating my song ? fixed it for you!
  2. According to your experience, what is the best approach to organize user folders in XO?
  3. If there are only few different drum notes I simply click on the keyboard in PRV to select all notes of the same height then in clips pane Shift+drag the selection down onto empty space. This will create a new track you can give a name.
  4. Thanks, I'll have a look. Yeah, the Apple rubbish nonsense doesn't make me feel better, it's just proving that's not a way out for me. I only can feel even more sorry for their users. For now I have no other choice than to stick with Windows 10 and the mess as I can't seem to find a better way for the time being but I definitely don't like it that way. I wonder that there is a kind of general, common acceptance for that. I'm not sure what you're trying to say. I could prolonge the doomsday for max 365 days in the regular security options and yesterday Windows decided time is up and started updating without warning, and I couldn't stop it. Maybe there are ways to edit group policies and alike but like I said I was trying to keep things fairly default. Besides I'm not IT literate to that extent.
  5. Just took a short break from dealing with another forced Win10 mayhem and only came back to attest a disaster. The so called feature update broke too many plugins, my Steinberg plugins and apps are no longer working because probably e-licenser is now broken. Many plugins have got their authorizations cancelled, some of them crash Cakewalk now. A few apps suddenly not working and even hard to say where to start with repairing. Sandboxie broken, no more safe browsing. Also I've lost some tabs I'm used to keeping open for convenience along with some other info that's got lost as well. It's just proving this OS can only be stable for max a couple of months, not years as it used to be for me. I have no idea how do you guys cope with it. I'm only several months on Win10 and already having enough of it. I really had it kept in default settings as much as I could, didn't help. It was fairly fresh install, still is. No way I'm the only one getting such trouble, am I? Ok, now back to jumping through hoops to get the e-licenser stuff and other plugins working again. This is all sad. I sincerely feel sorry for every user that has to deal with similar issues now since Windows 10. And all devs that have to deal with fixes every couple month because of a new Windows 10 feature update, especially if they are trying keeping their software compatible win 64-bit AND 32-bit, Win10 AND Win7 (sometimes even XP), Win AND Mac OS (sometimes also Linux), intel AND now Arm processor, etc... they are heroes. Lucky you who do not experience all that.
  6. Yeah, this is pretty awesome! Glad you guys told me about this I'm new to all this. What do I need to own from SSL to have this working (because I'm assuming it's not free)? Thx
  7. The thread title might be somewhat misleading... My analytical mind (or is it scientific mind) had experienced a burst of short circuit when trying to cope 😂
  8. Here's my own recent, somehow strange experience on the automation, with regards to Tempo Track (but not only). When I decided to give the most recent Early Access a spin, I've found out oddities that I couldn't explain. I asked for some clarification whether it's a bug or feature, or my own user error - because I realize I might be missing an fundamental detail here and there of the whole envelopes conception, or anything really. But all I've got in response from the devs was just a silence. On the old forum for the most time I was just a lurker mainly for the lack of confidence when it comes to the language. Yes I can write and read in English but my most concerns that I have are with the underlying tone that always come with the message - here's where I might fail, and more than once, if putting words together the wrong way. But I decided to give myself a second chance for a fresh start here on the new forum and when I saw the EA thread I thought I might be useful by giving a feedback from the user perspective and specifically with decades of experience in working with midi in Cakewalk. So when I saw odd things, where I did something I theoretically shouldn't do as a user, like for example double-clicking in the tempo track while in the shelf tool, and Cakewalk did things it theoretically shouldn't do as a DAW, ie. corrupting the envelope (or as in an yet earlier EA - some funky stuff going with MIDI clip content when editing song parts in the arranger track with the new event overlap option enabled and getting weird results) - I thought that Cakewalk simply should't allow it happen at all. Then I posted about it but got no reaction, nothing. And now I'm left with no clue whether it's something wrong with Cakewalk or with me 😂. Now here's the thing. I saw a recent thread about that more young people should try Cakewalk. Imagine a newcomer wants to get started and is checking out first if it's something right for him or not, without any patience nor passion - no emotions whatsoever. Imagine him making a rachitic move, or be it a muscle memory from another DAW, or even failing mouse - and getting strange output. Will he start with wondering if it's something wrong he's doing or it's the software to blame for being buggy? And I'm not going to even start on the take lanes/clips . Ok, I'll better get my coat...
  9. I can replicate this when I set record mode to Sound On Sound and have auto crossfade engaged. Is it possible that you had two clips deeply overlapped and then you moved one of them onto another take lane? 😂 it's like playing a game 'who'll get tricked the most'... I won't be lying on you, I win most the time... but not every time lol
  10. Well, yes... unless they're forced to update to stay compliant with the most recent changes in Windows 10 policies. The whole point of my previous post was that today there's no right way for those who prefer to install software and do not poke with it later. One and half year after I upgraded to Win10 slowly I'm becoming exhausted having to constantly pay attention whether I should update the plugin or not, because developer says it's an important update. It takes too much effort always having to check forums and articles before doing an update just to make sure that I'm not falling into trap - most recent examples are AIR and AAS updates - not saying they're directly related to Win10 forced updates in this case, but if I didn't hunt for the right info in the first place, I would regret a quick jump on the update. Didn't want to make it sound too dramatic but life was much more easy before Win10 . Or maybe it's just me.
  11. Actually that would be my point of view almost exactly as you said, every now and then a Windows update 'destroys' people's working DAW either by breaking compatibility for some plugins, changing rules for permissions or sneaking in some default drivers or settings back where you'd have thought you had things set correctly. You then have to spend some quality time updating broken software or if you'd prefer to keep things the old way you'd be quickly left behind with an outdated version or the DAW. That's exactly my experience since I have upgraded to Windows 10 after decades of using Win7 and earlier XP, where I had things simply set and forget.
  12. Personally I don't think Cakewalk is the best choice right on start for most of the new young users there. The way I take it is that Cakewalk would be best suited for those who got on the online Bandlab app and found it lacking at some point... and are on Windows by a chance. And while I might be not yet considered an old fart by some more prominent members here but I'm getting there, still I was one of the first to say thanks right after the new tempo track had been announced, so no hate at the new features at all, especially the ones that lift Cakewalk up to today's standards. Granted I'm still based on some old workflows, for example the reason I may still use MIDI control change events instead of envelopes is because they still seem too buggy for me or I completely misunderstand their concept. I might handle a single tempo track with it's some of the few bugs and odds just well but no way I would want to deal with 20 or 40 tracks full of track AND clip envelopes in their current shape. What I think would be best for newcomers is the online Bandlab app with it's simplicity of use and the modern vocabulary like 'stems' or 'regions' - it sounds sooo contemporary but for me it could really mean many things . Or Ableton Live lite with it's plain user interface and very consistent workflow where it's difficult to get unwanted user errors. I can easily see newcomers having trouble for months trying to understand why is snap to grid "not working" in Cakewalk 😂 and the like, or even having trouble getting started with the drivers.
  13. Or alternatively you can buy just the ASIO driver alone for about 1/2 of that price. It *should* work with your i02 Express but just in case you can download a demo version there. https://www.usb-audio.com/download/ I'm using it with my ART dual tube preamp and it's working like a breeze
  14. probably right after Steinberg claimed all rights to it's name
  15. Yep, it says: not compatible with the older HO section or solo instruments and with MIDI guitar series.
  16. I'm really liking my Juno from Cherry Audio. I realize it probably could be beaten by the ones from Roland Cloud or the recent release from Softube if someone is looking for closest emulation, but that doesn't bother me at all cause I didn't spend the whole $150 on it and don't feel like it sounds 5 times worse than the others. Actually to me personally it does sound more like a hardware synth than software. Money well spent.
  17. I should have read my own post before leaving thread LOL I mean if I'm going with the lowest price Home Studio versus highest price Studio 9.. just feature-wise roughly, cause I'm not familiar with Mixcraft
  18. 👆yep, I was thinking the same, either trimming tool or bounce to clip👆 I'd like to try it myself, can anyone point me to where I can find that loop, please for me sometimes it was enough to just slip edit a loop and then turn it to the groove clip
  19. That's an interesting question. The ideal scenario would be that we'd be able to copy/paste it or it's fragments between clips. But I can only make it work (sort of) if I select at least one note along with the envelope. It is then pasted as a new clip on top of anything that's there already so no way of copying just the automation between existing clips, AFAiK.
  20. That's an interesting one, will check it out, thanks! I've been on a lookout for R-Bass alternative way too long now 🤤.
  21. Thanks, that would be my understanding too. I'm fine with it when editing clip content including envelopes. But would more expect the clip envelope being connected to the grid when editing some clip content, like just the notes, so it won't change/move while doing edit (ie. clip ends stay with the envelope versus envelope being moved with clip end). It seems all fine when dragging whole clip.
  22. And what is your alternative for R-Bass? AFAiK there are no alternatives for it. The ones considered as an alternative do sound too much different to me.
  23. Also some of these issues, like the above, are happening in the audio/midi track envelopes as well. There is also this. If I double click in an empty space in the tempo track, all nodes get highlighted (selected) for a short moment and then unselected right away the moment I'm releasing mouse button (the second click). Wasn't it supposed to select all nodes in a track when double clicking, but now it's broken? If not, then please consider adding it (and also 'Select All' and/or 'Select All Nodes' under right menu). Additionally all the normal audio/midi envelopes would also benefit from it, and also the controller lines in PRV🙏 (sorry I had to).
