  1. Thanks, The mix knob works. I will experiment with the GPU version in due course.
  2. I am trying to use the GSatPlus plugin to provide saturation just on the chorus of the song. I have added it to the master bus. The track for the master bus shows the automation for the bypass switch. The master channel is set to read automation as is the plugin itself, but it does not switch the bypass. I have occasionally seen it switch the bypass on and off but not consistantly and not now I am watching it. It is very difficult to hear if it switches on and off as it is a subtle effect designed just to lift the chorus so I am relying on watching the UI. This is the NOGPU version as I do not have a soundcard (all work being done on a laptop) Any Advice thanks - If there is a GSatPlus forum I should use please also advise but I come here as I always get good advice.
  3. I am trying to add a SideChained gate from the kick to a rhythm guitar. currently it strums all the time and using a SideChained Gate gives it a different impact. However, I only want it gated at certain times but I cannot find an automated method of turning it on/off. Currently I am using the SonitusGate but the Bypass is not something available in automation, similarly I cannot automate the turning on/off of the FX nor on the send from the Kick. Is there a method to automate this OR another (free) Gate I can use which can be automated. The method I can currently considering is using the automated mute on the rhythm guitar but that is long and tedious OR I can cut and paste the sections I want into a separate "gated" track also long and tedious AND difficult to amend. N.B. there are other FX (or sends) I only want at certain times so knowing how to automate turning them on/off in general would be useful.
  4. I am working through my drum midi track. I have the basic beat and am now adding fills and highlights. When I have completed this for the 1st verse I would like to name that clip and copy it for the second and third verse and use a similar process for the chorus. I know a real drummer probably would introduce further variations as the song progresses and maybe I will but just getting the structure complete would be great. So.... I have added a snare fill at the end of the first verse to bring in the chorus. When looking at the tracks I noticed a small section of the clip at the end of the verse which appeared separate and when I expanded to show the take tracks I noticed the snare fill was in a separate take clip. I had thought I was editing inside the "main clip" but it seems to appear as a "take" clip which runs from the verse just into the chorus (see screenshot) How do I deal with these separate Clips/takes? When I copy the drum verse I want to copy the snare fill as well. Then there may be further fills etc. I add, sometimes I may want to include these as part of the "main" clip but do I have the option of leaving these separate so I can choose to copy or exclude as desired. I have watched a video on track comping to choose sections of recordings in multiple takes, which has educated me in the concept of take lanes, but this concept does not apply here as I want all of the take lanes. Therefore does anyone have advice on dealing with take lanes processing midi information OR can direct me to a video which could educate me, Thanks
  5. Thanks Guys, I will have to accept that I will need to re-do the work and will take more care before doing anything destructive.
  6. Thanks David, This is good advice on how to achieve what I need. I had already "re-Arranged" earlier parts of the song (reducing the intro, Shortening the 1st chorus) But it was tricky and I had to try several times to get it right (no knowledge of Rippleing) So I will try your method when I have completed all the other tidying up, level matching, inclusion of effects and mixing.
  7. There is no auto-save but there are 4 versions configured. (None now available since last save)
  8. I would like to repeat the final chorus (maybe 2 or 3 times) and Fade out. There are approx. 20 tracks in the mix Any suggestions on how best to achieve this would be useful. Obviously, I could just mix what I have and work on the result and repeat and fade that, but I thought there might be a better way? Thanks
  9. Hello, While I was busy working on Bass clips I deleted what I thought was a redundant Drum Midi track. Now I have finished with Bass I have lost the chorus drum parts which were probably in the deleted Midi Drum Track (I had 2 or 3 to compare different drum patterns in various sections) I cannot find it in Undo, undo history Or Revert. Is there any chance it is still in some Cakewalk work folder where I could retrieve it. Obviously I could re-make it but it was a couple of hours work to make. Thanks
  10. Thank you David, By the time I read this I had already started again from the beginning, I have learnt so much that this is a far better organised project than before (and on beat). I still have the previous project so can refer back if necessary. Once again thanks for the offer.
  11. I seem to be having difficulties..... I could find no way to drag/drop the .cwp into the new one, While I am in the browser window (where you can select which project to open) I cannot drag any project. If I open the new project, then open the start screen (which shows the select project screen) then those projects cannot be dragged into the new one. Therefore I must not be understanding the (from the Browser->Projects) instruction. If I have both projects side-by-side The tracks cannot be dragged, they can be copied and pasted but I have to select "new" for the destination, none of the track details such as effects are copied. Then I have to drag/move the clips in that track so that the first transient lines up with the beat (I started with drums) . when I then copy/paste the following tracks it becomes difficult to move the resultant clips to line up with the first, sometimes all the clips move, but sometimes only the first clip in a track moves, others remain where they were creating a small gap. I can see this if I have the entire track length in the window, but I need a close up on the start to align with the first track. OK, Enough of my whinging. I will begin again importing original audio, starting with the drums and ensuring the tempo matches. Then I will add the other audio ensuring they align before any splitting/editing of clips. I remain baffled as to why I cannot follow simple instructions OR my installation of CbB operates differently
  12. Apologies for the delay in getting back = been busy at sons house. Now... I got as far as set 7 CTRL-A did select all track clips but nothing would move. If I clicked again the drum track became the only track selected as would move. Is it because I have a soft synth with Midi track already added? If so what is the easiest way around? N.B. I have done some work with a drum map and soft synth rack to separate the individual drums. Thanks Again Mettelus
  13. Thanks John, I have purchased an USB midi interface which arrived today. Hopefully my Roland Handy Pad5 (from the 90s) still works and I can map/use that. Not being a keyboard player I have given away a keyboard I had but might try to get it back OR get a small velocity sensitive keyboard controller.
  14. Dear Glenn, Thank you for the suggestion. It raises 2 questions though 1. Is there a free session drummer available to download? 2. I have been following YouTube videos from Mike at https://www.creativesauce.net/ In this video he creates many tracks for the drums. He creates them in the synth rack and this creates the tracks. To a novice like me this appears the same as creating the instrument in the track BUT is this how he circumvents the 2 track SI-Drum limit?
  15. I have seen on YouTube that clicking on different areas of the drum when I have the interface open alters the sound of the drum. (still a newbie) I intended to experiment with this to see how the midi note altered, was it just a velocity change? However, any attempt to record Midi by clicking on the drums creates no content, no clip, nothing. I can drag one of the drum patterns to the track and those midi notes appear but I wanted to manually create the midi notes from the interface. is this possible? Thanks
  16. I want to separate the individual drums for stereo effects and different FX , SO I began putting those I wanted separate on different tracks. This is now making Midi editing too hard so I want all the Midi info in one track and will use a drum map to divert those I need different processing/pan to other tracks. When I create a new Midi track the solo button appears linked to one of the SI-Drum tracks. I do not want these tracks linked in this way. what did I do wrong?
  17. Can someone tell me why this method didn't work = It should help my understanding of track clips. All the clips begin at Measure 4:1 So I thought if I set a tempo change at 3:4 to 150 (the correct tempo for the song) and alter the tempo at 1:1 to somewhere between 140&145 Then it would move the time signature just enough so that 4:1 would land where I need it. However when I changed the tempo at 1:1 All the clips seemed to adjust themselves. 1st was this a bad plan and if not how do I stop the clips adjusting to the new tempo? I will try the SM/BAN If/when I do this importing of tracks again.
  18. Thanks John, These tips from an experienced user will be invaluable.
  19. Thanks the reference guide will be ultra useful for me. Also the info about right click & non destructive vs destructive point me in the right direction. I have also become aware of nudge which I will try to nudge everything. To give more info I imported 8 tracks of a song (4xvox, guitar, bass & drums) these were in time with each other but did not match the 120bpm default. I created Midi for the drums using drum replacer to enhance the drums and add extra cymbals etc. At some point during that process I manually altered the tempo until I found one which seemed to match all the transient points for the drums BUT not on the beat. I carried on add effects and mix to the tracks to demo what I was doing for the Artist. At this point it would be good to further enhance drums etc. but it will be increasingly difficult while everything is slightly off the beat. Having learnt this, next time I will import the drum track 1st, align with tempo then all other tracks aligned with the drums, but I don't want to lose the work done so far on this song. Thanks again
  20. An email from BandLab gave a link to try AutoPitch. This opens in a web browser. Can I use AutoPitch in my local CbB, if so how do I add it, is it a VST or a regionFX? Similarly, from my old analogue days, I wanted to try a aural exciter (used to add "sparkle" to vox, guitars etc.) Is there a free FX I can add? Thanks
  21. OK, Am new to CbB but have done work previously with audacity. I cannot find an easy guide to manipulating clips in tracks. If I split a clip and delete a section and then drag the edge of the remaining clip, the section I deleted is still there, revealed by the drag. I understand this is because the original clip is not altered just reference pointers to it but is it possible to trim a section so all the previous and following audio/midi is gone. e.g. I have a vocal in the middle 8 I want to process differently. I split the clip to isolate the section, move it to a new track for different processing/mixing and I don't want all the previous and following sound/data. Midi data has similar features. If I drag the edge of a midi clip (previously split) it repeats the notes contained within, but this includes notes from earlier in the clip which I didn't want even if I split it. And lastly (for this question) I have imported several audio tracks, created Midi from the drums. I finally got the tempo sorted manually (if anyone knows how to set tempo from any of the tracks I would appreciate it) Now I find all tracks are .050 behind the beat. How can I move everything? I tried selecting all and dragging left (with Snap off) and the sound totally changed, effects on vox and guitars were lost, midi drums had new sounds etc. It may be that use of Ctrl, or Shift or Alt. may be the answers but I am having trouble finding in the CbB help. Thanks
  22. Thanks I have downloaded and added the AmpleSound Bass P Lite and will try it. I searched around both in CbB and Melodyne but failed to find the default octave setting so if anyone can direct me I would be grateful.
  23. Now that I have Melodyne working correctly under a trial version, I have my Drums to Midi sorted (works with drum replacer so I can choose bet fit) However converting a bass guitar so I can use the SI-Bass guitar and things are a little weird. Many notes created are below the lowest available in Si-Bass which requires a transpose by 12 to bring everything up an octave ( I assume 12 is the correct number to use = 12 semitones) Now I know the playing is a little sloppy (My ex lead singer playing bass) but there are loads of miss triggers wrong notes etc. So I have 2 questions...... Is there no additional filter/import filter in after choosing Automatic, Default, percussive, melodic etc..? = e.g. Drum replacer offers a frequency dial to only trigger correct notes Otherwise, are there any suggestions on how to correct either the conversion of the track and/or correction of the midi once created and transposed? I attach a section of the bass track (please don't be too judgemental on the playing style) I had to export an MP3 the source is a wav but too large to attach, but I believe an MP3 should be OK Thanks Track-003-Bass .mp3
  24. OK all sorted, Thanks everyone. It appears Melodyne was not installed correctly and despite several appempts to accept the trial is was always running in player mode. Following help from Melodyne support it is now working correctly. I am getting blobs AND midi is appearing inside CbB N.B. Drum replacer did work to give me Midi notes, but that only worked for drum. SO thanks again and all you comments opened my eyes to features and stuff I would have taken ages to find. I do have additional questions but will start a new thread for those (I believe this is correct protocol) 😀
