Hey, I just found this in the cool new reference guide. It at lease keeps the mouse in the general vicinity of the NOW time (assuming a note of the desired duration is nearby):

Is there a way to use the computer keyboard to select note durations? I hate to move my mouse from the position on the staff to select different durations. Thanks, Dave Thomas, AKA Poco
