Often the case with guitar gear. I have three points fro each amp sim when testing:

    1. Sits great in the mix.

    2. Feels like the real thing.

    3. Sounds great standalone (soloed).

In this order. Usually emulations that meet all three criterias are easy to dial in, kind of set and forget. All others require more complex processing with plugins like EQ, compressors, saturators, reverbs to work well in the mix.

Yup, while checking an amp sim, I look at below points -

    1. Amp behaviour (cranks like a real amp without digital artifacts)

    2. Sound in a mix (with Bass and drums)

    3. Ease of dial in (I use separate dial in for mix and standalone)

    4. Features - Pedals, Racks, Cabs, Mics, IRs, etc.

    5. GUI

It depends on how you're using it. If you're using it in a DAW, actually points 3,4 and 5 (and to some extent pt.2) can be managed by using the multiple other plugins that we've got. But pt.1 is primarily important for any amp sim

Do you have any issue with the Thunderbird )or maybe it's the rockerverb)? One of those I get really low volume out of it.

Yeah, me too. That one needs a real heavy boost to be audible

Guyz what you describes is exactly the probem

Any small move , from a 0,2 eq move to a 5 mm mic move , is amplified like fraaazy with amp I don t even talking by overdrive and disto box added to the chain , add to this cabinets , mic sampling ect...

so unless you get the exact same sound , you can not judge to signal , period , the only thing you gonna hear is difference in tone .... or like you stated differences n higher register due to the design , i know mebrini and pa filters a lot high freq , a lot of amp sim does that , this results on what i said to a friend like a feeling of lo fi in the mix versus a real amp ...

So my point is , if you guyz fire a marshall and another marshall and just say this one is superior because you prefer the sound , it s just irrelevant , i m amazed how different a SAME amp can sound presets from presets just with smale moves ...due to what i explained before ...

So how did i made my statement : i opened each amp and did the sound i ve found the best for the song ... one is orange , one is soldano , one is fender , one is randall ect ...did a blind test and the orange came several time at first ... and when in another exemple i needed more depth to compete with for exemple with the membrini and neutal dsp (thks mainly to  their cabinetimpulses ) i succed to have even more depth with the cabinet section in amplitube ...

So at the end , i m not saying this is better than that , i m saying ´ this is no better than that ....

the fact that one amp sim leads you to a sound you label "good" faster than another , is what counts  and it has nothing to due with faithfull emulation but more with design (inrefacing and algo design ) some gain structure are linear , other are not ect ....

This is probably the most beautiful and simple explanation I've read in a while..... While we think about which amp has a better tone (and I do agree some amps and amp sims are shitty as hell), we lose sight of a simple logical explanation to the difference in tones.... the settings and IRs make a huge difference.....

  4. This bundle is brilliant..... It has excellent synths in the form of Hybrid & Vaccum Pro..... Excellent sampler instrument in the form of XPand! (absolutely love the multi-sounds in that one).... Workable acoustic pianos..... Ultimate electric piano suite (with 100s of presets)..... Really good organ suite..... And a lot of other goodies like Loom, Transformer, Structure, etc and the bundle of effects (although I rarely use them due to having others)

  5. Haven't tried this but I have the Bass Pro and the Acoustic Pro plugins..... Both are brilliant soundwise as well as GUI-wise..... Especially with Bass Pro, you can tweak your sound as much as you like..... I'm not too much inclined to get the Electric Pro as I'd stick to my Amp sims for that :)

If you are just after an impulse loader you could just get Two Notes WOS for cheaper, Free (almost) after the trial period, all you have to do is purchase at least 1 cab from there selection, and then you are set to go. You can just use it like a basic impulse loader and bypass/turn off the extras, EQ, Comp, etc. They have some good quality cabs available, but you can also use 3rd party cabs.

I would suggest Kazrog's Recabinet 5, but I don't think it's available for purchase now. There are also many other alternatives, some free, some not.

I'll never buy another Melda plug, good quality and all, some unique features and stuff, but the look is just nauseating to me, can't stand looking at them, but that's just me, others love the look.

Hey, thanks.... I do have the Recabinet..... But yeah, just as someone said, I've heard a damn lot of good things about Melda plugins. I do have their Free Bundle and the Multi Analyzer, both of which I do like using.... And do agree with you that their GUI is not that appealing but then the MCabinet seems to be having the purpose of tweaking cabinets, maybe what Bias Amp does for amp sims.... not sure whether it is worth spending 49$ (still a big amount after conversion in my native currency)

You can load the **** library into the Rig Player component, available in any TH-U version:

    TH-U Full

    TH-U Rock

    TH-U Metal

    TH-U Funk and R&B

    TH-U Slate Edition

    Thanks, that makes it easier.....

If you have th3 full , upgrade isn t that expensive when on sale ..

Yeah, I know..... But then I'll have to wait :P

  8. Do these expansions work on THU Metal or do they work only with the full THU version ? I was thinking of buying THU Metal since the full version is out of my budget..... And if these rigs work on THU Metal, then it'll make my decision easier.

As opposed to blocking selections it would be better if the system gave you a warning when you were trying to select anything that you already owned, such as "You already have a registered license to this item!  Do you want to obtain another?"
While the intent of the greyed out options is probably to prevent people from inadvertently getting duplicates while they still have other valid options it is not aware of items contained in sets such as T-Racks 5.

True...... I was thinking the same when I selected option no. 5 today

  10. Have just got the Lurssen Mastering Console from the IK Group Buy.... Will spending 34$ on the bx_maskerdesk be any further use? I'm running on a tight budget so would like to decide with a lot of thought rather than impulsively as I normally do :P

On a further note, how would this rate against the Lurssen MC, the Ozone 8 or for that matter the Waves Mastering plugins (Abbey Road or Gold)
