3 wires. Wich is the same inside a midi cable. Philips pushed an old connector because they had many in stock. Basics of midi is a serial protocol using 3 wires.

That would mean you could use the onboard DSP. Ah well. Maybe down the road.

The RME digiface USB is a nice device to interface with to get the audio working too. The Mackie can be connected over db9 2x to midi

What cards does the D8B have?

Midi learn can easily learn the 24 faders.

I love the stereo in surround field controll lever. Maybe some day.

This recorder can be connected to the D8B and give you a full blown recording system. Wich allso can interface with your daw.
