Aaaa....do we ever need another plugin? I'm just glad I dodged the bullet on the reverbs.

I've never sold a plugin and to be honest I probably never will. Too much hassle.

I've sold a lot and never had big problems.

After years of toying around with hundreds of plugins, I've defined my own standards and cut down my setup. Good choice, I have to say.

I can't think of any plugin that actually has resale value that is affordable.

All the usual suspects have transfer fees, or big enough sales that someone else isn't going to pay real money for them.  Anything in this price range is basically a sunk cost, in my experience.

I'm avoiding because I certainly don't need another plugin.

U-he or D16 when on sale have excellent resale value. There are others, too.

Sounds good. Which train should we get on to get the magazine after you're done with it?

I kid. I kid. I still love to read a magazine or newspaper with a good cup of coffee.  I mostly do it electronically, but there is something cool about holding a physical magazine or newspaper when enjoying that coffee (or tea, if you prefer).

Exactly,  coffee here, and not only mags, but also lots of real books.  My 50th birthday is in a few weeks. Half a century,  so I'm really old. Phew, ...

Yep, we just need one page.

I have to say I sometimes buy Beat (the printed one) for long train rides or for some of the tutorials. And I always find someone who will pick it up after I'm done with it. For those of us who still consume media of the 20th century, it might be worth a look.

jngnz feels strongly against this dev's plugins. Personally, while I have a couple of plugins they gave away free, I've never actually tried any of them yet (although even if I did, I definitely don't feel I'm qualified to have a really knowledgeable opinion on compressors, I barely know what I'm doing with them). Any other opinions?

I'm definitely not discounting jngnz. He's going to school for audio and knows a lot more than me. While he can be pretty savage, I think he's knowledgeable and I take his opinions into account when I look at plugins and sample libraries. His post also reminded me that a YouTuber whose videos I enjoy -- White Sea Studio is the name of his channel -- did a video on a Tone Emporer compressor a while back where he recommended against buying it because of undesirable artifacts. So, with both jngnz and the White Sea Studio guys negative critique of their plugins, I am hesitant to download and install it. (I don't blindly go on others' advice, but I don't have sound engineering expertise, so I tend to check to see what more knowledgeable people have to say about plugins before I buy them, and if they say something isn't good, I pass on it).

Let's put it this way: I've checked on some of the plugins some time ago, and they are nothing special. In a world with a lot of choice regarding plugins, you will always find something better. I would recommend to pick something like Analog Obsession for free or, if you are after pedals, go for Audiority, Kuassa or the many others around. Bottom line: As I wanted to downsize my setup anyway (which I did), I've successfully ignored this company.

Do people who own a lot of Waves plugins like to use the StudioVerse effect chains for StudioRack? Like, do you think that they're good and useful? Time-savers?

I have not tried them in depth, only twice for a few hours. Yes, they can be a time saver, and the more plugins you have, the more chains are available. Filtering for what you own is easy, and if you are picking your favourites over time and know the chains in-depth, you can become really fast I guess.

One thing you can do is start the demo (for a week I think) with a bundle that's attractive to you, take some time and use the stuff in a project or two and see if it's for you.

There are other solutions around with a similar approach. Two that I prefer:

    1. PSP Infinistrip, great presets, but "only" a channel strip. At PSP, they have certain plans to extend the software, but I don't know any details.

    2. Hofa System. A plugin toolbox that goes beyond channel strips. A bit expensive, 350 presets which are really good and endless possibilities. My favourite time saver, one plugin per track to do 90% of the work.

As you see, I'm not a friend of "go to the web and download preset chains", but rather a curated set of presets that tick a lot of boxes. An ever-growing collection in the cloud does not guarantee the stuff is good and well-curated, and an essential thing to keep in mind is that chains are solutions you have to analyse before being good and fast with them. A finite set of presets suits me better. But that's just me. :)

    Upgrade from Platinum $74.99

If interested, please check your individual upgrade price from what you actually have in your account. This is likely to be lower.

Also gives you a year of fresh WUP. I know, WUP is bad, but still ...

This is one of the temptations you're running into when owning a smaller bundle. The question is if you need / will use what you will get additionally.

UPDATE: According to Koby from Everyplugin, this price will be available for the next 2 days.
