Probably not. Without delving into them, I'm going to hazard a guess that the Xenyx 1202 and 1002 are both 'N inputs to a stereo mix' devices. Larger mixers often have additional submix outs (eg. Mackie 1604), wherein you could have a second stereo mix (on submix 3 & 4) feeding the input of the Focusrite, and the main mix (submix 1 & 2) going to your speakers. But that's almost certainly massive overkill for what you're doing.

FWIW, I have two mixers in my setup. A small Mackie 1202 which I keep all my sound-generators connected to. The output of that mixer goes to the inputs on my Focusrite. Also provides me nice high-res level meters on the input signal. And I have a second 'output' mixer connected to my speakers/headphones. Both the Focusrite and the Windows audio are connected to that mixer, as well as the output from the 1202 and an ancient hardware reverb - this lets me monitor my vocal recordings (with reverb, that doesn't get recorded) at zero latency.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend doing all that, it's just using stuff that I already owned for various reasons.

so is a waste of money to get one of those, maybe the xenyx 802 will be great then, i wonder if this thing gives headphone amplification also

Get the cheapest passive stereo line mixer you can, plug the outputs of both sound devices into it, and take the output of the mixer to your (powered) speakers.

Search Amazon for "Little Bear MC5" for example. Note that this particular mixer doesn't have a headphone amp, so if you want your headphones to recieve audio from both sources (rather than just plugging them into the Focusrite's headphone output), you'll need to step up to something like a Behringer Xenyx 502 or equivalent.

Use the Realtek's EQ for your windows sounds. It's not a good idea to have the Windows sounds and the DAW sharing the same interface, as you can run into various conflicts if you're running the DAW and Windows decides it wants to beep or whatever.

wow, that behringer is much cheaper than i expected... i can get the Xenyx 1202fx or the Xenyx 1002b for the same price of one of that crappy but expensive hardware eq's

i've never had a console before, so i wonder if with one of this behringers i can do the thing of connecting both focusrite and realtek for listening and maybe at the same time using it for connecting instruments in the other inserts for recording

this can be done without problems?

You can set your system to use the Focusrite with Cakewalk and the onboard sound card for Windows sounds. If your sound chip is a RealTek, it has "enhancements", one of which includes EQ with many presets.

but the problem with that is that i need another headphones and monitors for the onboard sound, my goal is to unify everything

  4. Hi

i want to be able to eq the windows 10 system sound (games, youtube, movies, etc) having asio drivers from focusrite, so far everyone recomends apo eq and others but no one work for asio, i've tried the voicemeter banana but the eq is only 3 bands and even when i change to the focusrite device when i go to use cakewalk there's a lot of clicks and pops in the sound

and even the cheaper hardware eq's are super expensive in my country

Just tried to save a template with console view first maximized with Shift+D and then pulled back down with D. Works only until I close the project. On reopen the template (or project), hitting D opens console view half way again. So here we are.

Additionally, when I saved the template with console view opened and maximized, on reopening it does open with console view maximized indeed but the Alt+1 shortcut doesn't work at all.

Anyway, what I'm, and I believe Mats is too, trying to achieve is to have a single shortcut to open the console view AND already maximized, from the track view after opening or creating a new project.

i think we must live with that

but maybe can be fixed for future updates, and being able to link workspaces to hotkeys will be good also

and the ability to automating bypass in plugins that doesn't have a button for that

Here is a quick video opening the PRV, SHIFT+D to maximize the view, selecting the Track View again then clicking the PRV tab in the multidock to restore the maximized PRV.

    giPdtMk.gif

but that works only for going back to the same view of the same track

still doesn't work if i want to change the track and go to the maximized view in one step

here i did alt+6 to open staff view, alt+d to maximize, alt+1 to go back to track, change the track, alt+6 to the staff view and AGAIN doesn't open maximized

Instead of closing the view just collapse it or leave all multidock views maximized and use Alt+1 to retrieve the Track view and click on the mutlidock tabs to see different maximized views. Views that work on specific tracks have a method to select tracks in the view.

with ''closing'' i tried to say that i was already using the alt+1 for going to the track view but it changes nothing, the other views keeps showing in half screen

    Look at screensets and workspaces.

Screensets are stored in the project folder.

    Workspaces are global.

Both may be used to keep screen layouts including maximized views across sessions.

the workspaces doesn't have hotkeys wich is impractical also, i want to be able to open a midi file and open the views to see notes, piano roll etc im the track i want, so far i can't do it properly with hotkeys nor workspaces or screensets

  8. Hi, i've noticed that when you open a tab in cakewalk (console, piano roll, etc) it goes full screen but when i doble click it the tab doesn't fold completely, it just goes like to the middle of the screen, if i want to get that out of the screen i need to go to the double arrow in the right corner of the screen wich for me is annoying, there's some way to fold the tabs completely with one click or two clicks??

I tried the link you provided and the driver didn't fix the issue for me.. I wonder if there was something else in the process you might've done?

i just unistalled the drivers, deleted all the focusrite folders in program data and hidden common files, deleted the focusrite entries in the registry, cleaned registry and files with ccleaner, restarted and installed the old ones having the scarlet unplugged until the finish

What is your ThreadSchedulingModel set to within Preferences->Audio->Configuration File ?

I've found that setting it to 2 gives me the best results.

it was in 1, i changed to 2, maybe this helps also

    Not sure if this

rules out plug-ins. Bypassing all plug-ins is an easy test for PDC related issues.

To bypass all plug-ins in the project click the FX button in the Mix Module

May also want to experiment Live Input PDC override using the PDC button also in the Mix Module.

it improves with that! but there's still a little, also i can't lower the buffer because of the distorting sound, i found that this also happens in studio one and now when i try to lower it the blue screen of win10 appears =(

This happened to me a while back when I upgraded my Focusrite drivers.  It was down to conflicting settings in my AUD.INI.

With cakewalk NOT running, delete AUD.INI from %APPDATA%\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core  , then start Cakewalk. Cakewalk will generate a fresh AUD.INI

I'm running the 1st gen 2i2, 6i6 & 18i20 on three different machines, and although I normally use a buffer size of 64, I can get as low as 32 for tracking, or 16 for playback without effects.

Tracking guitar without latency when only using VST effects can be tricky though. Typically I record both the dry & effected signal using hardware effects to avoid any VST latency, then add the VST effects afterwards. However if this isn't an option, make sure all other effects are bypassed apart from your guitar effects when tracking.

deleted that and the latency is still bad, i also updated the focusrite drivers a time ago

but it can't be the vsts, in studio one with exactly the same project i don't have latency also if you have a good pc is enough to run a lot without problems

  12. I have an scarlett 2i4 2gen with buffer in 256 and i'm having horrible latency working with plugins and fx and my guitar plugged in, if i lower the buffer to 192 the sound becomes all distorted

this doesn't happen in studio one , i don't want to stop using cakewalk, but this and other silly problems are starting to annoy me a lot

  13. Two simple but annoying problems:

When i open a project with redwirez mixIR2 in the tracks an some loaded impulses the plugin doesn't sound right until i open the window of the plugin (is annoying having to click in several windows for getting the sound fine)

If i use mixIR 3 instead, the previous problem disappear but if i save FX chains containing mixIR3, when i reload that chains in other project mixIR3 sounds like totally bypassed no matter what and there's no way to get it sounding right

  14. Hi, i'm having this problem when i'm playing guitar with amp sims plugged in my focusrite 2i4, everything is ok then suddenly the sound cuts and goes off, i can still see the waveform in cakewalk but nothing sounds anymore, and also the WHOLE sound of the pc is off, i mean youtube, the media player etc, i need to unplug the focusrite and plug it again to solve it

Other times instead of the sound going off cakewalk closes suddenly, is really annoying
