Hi Bats
Firstly, great song.
It's very difficult to criticize mate - there may be a bit of low end mud going on if you wanna nitpick but we're only talking a tweak. Maybe roll a bit off the kick?
hey daryl!
thanks for listening and commenting,
kick, eh? yep, this drum track is hard, because it's a single stereo file, but i have some good eq's i can focus on kick woof.
thanks for the suggestion

3rd mix, un-mastered, final arrangement,
it's got to be topped and tailed, has an extra 30 seconds or so at the end.i think the bass line is too strong, so i need some feedback on that...
and the final chorus needs to be louder.also, looking for translation issues at this point,
before mastering.this song is supposed to be a sort of 'pick me up' for anyone feeling blue.

This was my favorite song on my favorite album in high school and you've absolutely nailed the spirit of the thing. Ian Gillian has nothing on you, dude. And that solo, totally on the money. Brings a tear to me old eye. *sniff*
i loved this song too, kevin!
LOL, it dates me.
so the Ian thing, i always loved his voice, but never had that kind of range...
i have to wear a torture device to sing that song.
and the original, with the opening wailing vocals, i had to cop that using my guitars....
so, props to Gillan!!

l like your version of this song better than the original. You apply that secret sauce of yours to anything you do. Two thumbs up!
hi lynn!
appreciate the thought, but to be fair, i DID change up the guitar solo, it's my own spin on the original,
which is still way cooler than mine.

Hello Group--
Just a light-hearted thread to see what everyone's into.
Do you use your DAW to produce your own tracks? Are you for hire? What do you do with your tracks? Sell them yourself? Get them plugged by an intermediary? Audio for film? Etc?
I'll start: I produce my own original tracks and get them plugged by a couple of intermediaries (Taxi, Hit License). I plan on investing in a digital distribution service next year--probably around summer when my Taxi subscription runs out -- then I plan on trying to sell my tracks through iTunes, Amazon, etc. via my website, etc.
How about you? 😊
hi razor!
i've been using Daws since about 1999, when i started with a roland VS880ex machine,
technically a 'self contained daw'.
i use them to record my original music.
i use them more or less, as a digital 'tape machine', since the bulk of what i do are microphone-recorded performances, and multi-tracked songs recorded in real time, same as i used to use tape machines for.
i have 3 full length albums released on CDBaby, and i've produced or co-produced 3 other artists' albums.

HEY WOOKIEE!
yea, this is a bit dense,
well, i say that, but then, when you break it down, it has two rhythm guitars, a bass, drums, and vocals.
it DOES get dense in the second section! LOL, but same instruments.
