  1. Definitely fits the 80's well. The mix doesn't pop but that's ok if that is what you are going for. Thanks for sharing.
  2. You do well with these types of arrangements. The music is very peaceful. I liked the mixture of acoustic and synths. Thanks for sharing!
  3. Hey Lynn, Wow this one really pops in a positive way. I liked every aspect of this. This didn't have that "canned" sound. Lots of originality. Great guitar and vocal work. Thumbs up!

I made this over the course of the last week or so. There were a few parts that just didn't seem to fit. Finally I guess a light bulb went off and I began to make it work. I removed a part or two, added a part or two and in the end called it a day.

    Love those guitars!
  6. Yep I thought the same.

Ahh...takes me back to pre COVID times.

This has that classic vibe. Sounds like it was tracked in a pro studio. Goes to show we don't need the best of the best to make good recordings. Great playing and vox .

I would say you do very well at it meaning a guitarist can pull off the same things as a keys player can. I thought this was great work!
  10. Very well done! You could shop this one to paying clients as an example track! This is the stuff that plays well with movies.
  11. Yes we eventually become raisins.
  12. Mark, Thanks for this. I had no idea you could use JBridge for this. I'll give it a try. I loaded up other soft synths last evening in another project with no problem, so it seems to me UJAM is a power hungry plugin. I am not drawing samples from my C drive and was still having the issues. Thanks again for chiming in. Very helpful! -Tim

Very nice. I like these southern style acoustic ballads. About the only thing that it's missing is the southern drawl Great playing singing and mix!
  14. Yeah so...................I dunno what was in my food last night. I was using some of those lesser known Soundiron Libraries. The results are rather silly. ( warning- may contain flatulence).
  15. I have my own chickens, so yeah I eat one every now and then, but they say eggs are bad for you. I don't really believe a few eggs on the weekend hurts anyone. A friend of mine went on the Keto diet. I don't know much about it. He eats a large omelette every morning and I have visibly seen him drop weight over the last 3 months. Just because a person is loosing weight doesn't necessarily mean they are healthier though. There are plenty of skinny people in the cemetary.
  16. Good questions above as well. Especially if one has a powerful computer. I'm running a 6 core i7 O.C. and I'm not loading it up. It handles everything else ok. I realize at least some of this has to do with the interface and driver efficiency. I'm using a Focusrite Scarlett for my midi input. msmcleod are you running heavy mixes and getting these results? So you are running 32 bit versions under JBridge? I would need to reinstall as I don't believe I installed those versions. Thanks.
  17. You can still probably enjoy them in secret. Might affect your longevity. Does that matter? Some of almost anything is probably ok. I'll trade an egg for a little more time. I drink a soda every now and then but it's usually Coke One which has no sugar. The problem with getting older and having had your prostate out is whatever you put in wants to come out not long after, so if I drink a coke I'm going to pay for it. Sitting there on the chair and thinking to myself, do I get up or pee myself. 3 in the morning...do I get up or pee myself? The other option is to totally stop drinking stuff and die of dehydration. I think people in the UK probably eat more sensibly than in the US. I seldom want anything fatty any more ( no I'm not talking about her). I mean fat foods. I try to balance it all out the best I can. I eat more poultry as meat than anything. Not as much beef or pig. Try to eat salads and fruit. I've never been a health nut though. Never keen on exercise. I do get some working. My BIL is a doc. Many docs are nuts too and don't take good care of themselves. It just isn't fun getting old. I'm 58. I hope to be around to 78, but I understand it might not happen. I've been pretty tough on this body in the past.
  18. Never had a desire to go. Never went. It's a place out in the desert. They have to pipe water in. Few trees. The bling? That's ok I'll pass. Gambling? I don't. I can tell Dave is a little less than enthusiastic too. lol. But a promise is a promise I guess. We seen the Blue Man Group on tour out here. It's a pretty good show. On pools- I have an in ground pool. It's probably the only pool I would go shirtless. I even keep my shirt on when the grandkids come over. Wouldn't want to scare them.
  19. I often use a combination of real/software instruments. I don't often have an issue with latency so up until now this post wasn't necessary. It seems lately the latency on some recent instruments is really bad. I try to keep my interface set as low as possible which is often in the 4ms range or less. Other measures taken are to freeze tracks when I can and make sure nothing else significant is running in the background. My most recent problem was when I used UJAM IRON . That instrument has a lot more phrases that can latch to the DAW timing. Maybe this had something to do with the problem? Anything I haven't done here that could improve this? The plugin in sounds great but the latency is killing me. Thanks in advance.
  20. Thanks. With me it's always the timing . Seems to be one of my main issues on everything.. I really should revisit it. I'm already working on something else. Do you find it difficult to go back to something you thought was pretty much done? It feels like reading a book again for me. Thank you Hidden Symmetry. I often feel the same way. Thank Gary. Ok maybe Henry the Vlll right after a meal? You're a singer too. Have you ever "acted" with your voice? In other words how do we sound if we're not singing like us? Thanks Douglas for comments! Thank you. Celtic seems to be my main fit. Not sure why. I'm only 15% Irish. I will see what I can do with that timing. Maybe I can do it without retakes. Thank you very much for commenting here. I'm basically a print it and move on kinda guy which probably isn't the best for the mix. It was more fun though Johnbee58. I try to say it every day. God knows we could use some kingdom come down here. Thanks for comments.
  21. Thanks Wookie. I wish I had time to drop by more. I tend to get info overload if I listen to music constantly, so I space things out. Good to see you still making music! Lots of great tunes here! I have not picked up the V 8 collection. I'm one confused musician. I never know if I should make acoustic music or go to the dark side and start playing with more synths lol.
  22. So for those who know I make mostly acoustic music often using unorthodox instruments which I hope gives the music different sound. I also just muck about with different genre for the fun of it. Having lately joined a choir I have been returning to a few hymns that remind me of old times. The Lord's Prayer is a pretty common Christian prayer many are familiar with. I decided to put it to the kind of music I most often make. That's the first one posted. I made two more that were nothing alike . " It Is Well With My Soul"- This is a traditional hymn sung in a traditional way. The next is a rocker WAY off from the other two called " Jesus Is Coming" I'm only going to post the first one here . I'll try to link the others in case anyone is curious. https://soundcloud.com/starise/it-is-well-with-my-soul-old-christian-hymn https://soundcloud.com/starise/jesus-is-coming Much of this is ideas. Meaning I had an idea, went with it and mixed it the best I could on limited time. Mostly coming from a musician approach as opposed to a mix approach. If anything this stuff is REAL and no huge amount of retakes or track doctoring took place. I know with a few more vocal retakes in places and some minor "alignments" I could be tighter. Comments welcome!
  23. I wouldn't dare comment on a mix critically with cheap earbuds on, so I won't go there. I will say what I heard was very nice even on my mediocre buds. The vocals and guitar have that nice down home feel to them. Nice blend is happening. The backup vox especially nice. I thought of the mix as down home refined. Thanks for sharing.
  24. So............this is something you made no? From the description it sounds more like an album track already made by someone else? If I misunderstood sorry. It's a great song and mix regardless!
  25. Great mix on this. Sounded good for this genre. Not sure if this is just me but I keep wanting it to go just a little bit faster. It's probably me. Thanks for sharing. Nice work.
