AI, Neural Network... Computing a guitar tone from any given signal seems like something that's non-trivial (i.e. complex and slow on a single computer), and possibly needs constant updates to the various algorithms - much like speech recognition (e.g. Siri/Alexa). Is this a cloud-based product? e.g. your rig samples gets uploaded to the cloud; if so, AI is expensive... is this a subscription based product?

For a moment, I thought it was a product going for $300,000 🤣

I don't think SoundPaint is supposed to replace Kontakt; it's either to supplement Kontakt, or to act as 'Kontakt Player', i.e. no upfront costs required. In the case of the former, it's a case of pick the right tool for the right job - Kontakt for more detailed realistic sounds; SoundPaint for synths/sound design.

Yes, it does. IIRC, Wavesfactory does do sales; not all the time like Waves, but they're not extremely rare either. It's also listed on Plugin Boutique, who also follow sales prices, so you can get an even better deal if you have any Virtual Cash at the time.

I'm not sure whether multi-CPU load balancing is a good idea at the plugin level - it certainly is at the host/DAW level; I'm just wondering whether there will be any 'conflicts' if your DAW is trying to spread the load, and then a plugin that the DAW is managing is spreading the load too. Kontakt also has a multi-CPU option - the documentation suggests that it's enabled when run standalone, but disabled when running inside your DAW as a plugin.

This looks interesting and I watched a few videos on it. Unfortunately, I'm going to pass - from what I saw: Plus points Cool visualisations Lots of customisations Minus points - no exports You have to do a real-time record of your visualisation; quality will depend on the real-time rendering capabilities of your computer. For best result's you'd have to bounce your song so you aren't stressing your CPU with other plugins to play your song. No audio in export; you'd have to record your video, bounce your song, and then stitch them together in sync in a video editor. Video speed is dependent on the framerate that you set, meaning your visualisation can end up playing faster/slower than your song.

I wonder how results from services like this compare to using all-in-one mastering plugins, e.g. IK's One, Lurssen Mastering Console, or PA's MasterDesk. The list prices of these plugins are quite high, but they can go for quite cheap during group buys/sales.

Despite the size of some of their Kontakt libraries, they almost seem insignificant compared to the SoundPaint versions too: 11.39GB(!) for the ZX SPECTRUM UDS Edition

Acoustica's a great editor. It also starts up nearly instantly; this was a major factor in me switching away from another well known audio editor that (seemingly) took eons to do a plugin scan on each startup.

Agree with you there. There was a time where new releases came out at $99, maybe if you had some other plugin, meaning that a $75 would get you down to $25, but generally you'd have to wait at least 6 months before it'd be at that price otherwise.

Interesting - seems like a similar concept to ISW Sonic Ocean and Sonic Forest; no idea which came out first. The ISW products are sample based though, whereas this Synplant looks like it's a synth
