This seems like a lot of bang for the buck.  Like, seriously.  I checkout out some of the videos and it seems intuitive.  24 hours isn't enough time for a trial but for $49....

Every other year i talk myself into it and then never use it. The videos are my rationalization this time but I have to wonder how useful the videos will be if i never bother following up? lol

I recently bought the Arturia Keylab 49 Essential which comes with Analog Lab and Analog Lab V for free. I've been using them both and I absolutely love it. I haven't used Syntronik so take that with a grain of salt but I just wanted to say that Analog Lab is pretty good.

I ended up getting arturia minilab mk 2 for only $79 because of a sign mistake at guitar center. It came with analog lab intro.  I got offered an upgrade to full analog lab v for $39 so I basically got controller and lab v for less than price of controller. I am loving it. Does make me want v collection.

If someone gets that $49 upgrade, let me know what it gets you...

I got it. It basically gets you RX9, another year of groove3 and I think an extra reverb. My groove3 had expired so i see it as me getting renewal for half of the sale price plus getting RX9 upgrade and whatever else izotope threw in.

I stopped using it , not that it's not good , but i try to use less tools and concentrate on one , here now studio one but my mind on cubase , i feel it more solid ...difficult to explain , S1 being more fun ....

I completely agree. If I ONLY mixed, it might be more useful. I just never find myself in the mood to create in one DAW and move to another

    but...but....but...Captain Plugins EPIC is coming!

(I can mock it because it sucked me in already...just put epic or cinematic or pro after any product and I must have it.) 🤪

That email made me spit out my coffee. I bought two weeks ago so i am probably not eligible for epic 😂

I have seen so many people who bought Scaler posting good things. I don't even recall seeing a single negative post about it. I took about the equivalent of one year of music theory lessons and that was during a day when the only tablets anyone knew of were either Tylenol or the ones Moses used. Is Scaler easy to learn? I admit, I am not eager to spend a bunch of time learning a new system. But if it really helps people creatively, as I'm reading in reviews, maybe I should be picking it up.

One man's easy is another man's wtf.  I think scaler is much easier to learn than captain chords. I think there are products that are easier to start, but the functionality at that point is just making somewhat boring 4 bar pop progressions that you could get from a free chord pack. I think where it becomes "easier" than competitors is when you start using chord progressions that even people who understand music theory may not gravitate towards. It provides value to novice and knowledgeable alike.

Pigments. I bought it without thinking much at the time as i got suckered in with the intro promo price. but I never use it.

Took me awhile to start using it, but once I started , it has become a workhorse. It does so many things well. It's not as intuitive as Serum but imho does anything Serum can do and things serum can't.

  8. I mostly use studio one now. If I did orchestral more I would probably lean more towards Cubase, although I have seen some amazing orchestral work in FL. I have been using MPC more for certain types of hip hop and lo-fi. I find some DAWs are more intuitive for certain genres than others, but that it is hardly set in stone. I think FL has one of the better if not the best Piano roll view.

Scaler is above my paygrade, but I did download the demo for Sundog.

Thanks, wasn't aware of that one!

Scaler sometimes goes on sale for 29. Another option for free chord playing is ripchord. Super minimalistic in that it only does chords and doesn't actually generate them, but is surprisingly intuitive and useful

  10. The comments here are just as narrow as this ranking. The idea that it's hobbyists driving that opinion is nonsense. If anything , the part of that which rings true is that like the huge athletic shoe industry, amateur athletes outnumber exponentially , but it is the success of pro athletes that drives the appeal.FL is not my choice of DAW, but the number of charting hits produced in FL is long and undeniable.  For EDM, Ableton and FL are simply used by too many known producers in the genre.  Hip-hop and pop that is heavily hip-hop influenced ( like Ariana Grande, Doja Cat and the weeknd) have producers that create in FL or Ableton and then have those tracks mixed in Pro Tools.  And make no mistake, almost every mainstream song ends up in pro tools.

This brings us to the point that many top producers use more than one way of producing . London (producer for Ariana Grande's Position) has been shown doing work in Ableton, Akai MPC and other equipment.  It's no secret that most of Billie Eilish's songs are produced and mixed in Logic.  These lists are made to create division among people who think their own worth is rooted in popularity of DAW.  For the most part, any song can be made in any DAW.
