Unless you're using extraordinarily generic melodic samples and have zero production or arrangements skills this is never going to be a problem. The people getting these strikes are literally just copy pasting melodic loops that are generic af "hey baby, let's party ya ya" or full on generic af guitar riffs and not even trying. Lol.

Sampling is a multi-decade long old art form that isn't for old f***s or basement dweebs who have no idea what they are doing.

Here's why places like Loopcloud are a goldmine - because you have terrabytes of content to create literally anything you want just by using your brain. A breakdown of the sampling in Prodigy's "Smack my Bitch Up."  This is how sampling took over pop / hip-hop - it's fun as hell, and creative af:

    And the actual commercial track:

Not sure if you have been keeping up, but Ai can now identify one shots and very talented creators like Venus Theory have been flagged. We are no longer talking about hacks who lazily loop as is. You can chop and flip anyway you want and still be flagged.

    From Loopcloud webite:

    Are all of Loopcloud’s samples royalty-free? -

Yes. You’ll have a full royalty-free license for every sample that you download from Loopcloud. Any samples that you purchase with points - or through your free quota - are yours for a lifetime.

    ======================================================

This from here - Loopcloud 6.0 Review: Changing the Way You Produce Music

Loopcloud is a DAW-integrated sample subscription service. It lets you audition, chop up, and tweak over 4 million loops and one-shots, all of which are 100% royalty-free. That means you can use them however you’d like without risk of owing a copyright owner money!

As I said in my post above you have to stop viewing loopcloud as JUST LOOPS. The app and tools around it and integration with your daw turn this system into having the ability to make original instruments from loops .. Also keep in mind its not just loops, its one hit sounds too for example full one hit kits

They also have worked alot on the search algorithm system to really narrow down a search for loop types you are looking for.

I'm aware they have more than loops, but thanks for the reminder.  Loops are still their bread and butter. It's literally in the name lol. I'm not bashing them. I just found it wasn't for me. As far as the licensing, I believe they have done their homework and they are truly royalty free, but no one has fully solved the problem of AI thinking your usage of the sample you used is not a sample of other copyrighted material using same sample.

As for the other features. I found them ok but was not blown away.  Again, I think some people love these fearures and I would encourage people test for themselves I was speaking strictly from my own experience.

  3. Another reason I have cooled on sample sites is the licenses are often ridiculous. I have read small print on some samples (including the midi) that require full production credit and absurd split of royalties if placed.

When I read one license agreement, I realized that all these vintage instruments, scaler type products and sound degrading processors made it kind of easy to "make" vintage sounding samples. Not only does this work well, but this is how a lot of these sample loops are made.  It's actually less time consuming to make samples than to search through hundreds of thousands.

With that said, some don't feel like doing all of that so services like Loopcloud are helpful to them.

  4. I pass on it annually! I tried trial and the sounds are good.  It does, however, suffer from the Splice Paradox( I should trademark that l); the tendency for the best sounds to be overused to the point where algorithms on platforms like Youtube and Spotify think you are infringing on the other 3,000 people who used loop before you did. Algorithms are getting to the point where they are picking up if you glitch or change key.   I would see if you could give trial a speed run before sale ends and see if it is for you.

One nifty thing about Presence XT (even in Prime) is that it has GM sounds. So if you open a GM MIDI file in Studio One and you request to use GM, then S1 will fire up Presence XT in each track with the assigned GM sound. Sort of like you can open GM MIDI in Cakewalk using TTS-1, except in this case Presence XT is not multitimbral so it requires an instance on each track.

Yes, I liked how he did that, it was a great work around.

Another workaround is using soundfonts in Presence XT. I converted multiple drumkits to soundfonts and also some 808 samples, including the grossly overused Spinz 808.

  6. I was able to do quite a bit with prime. Yes, there are better options imo, it offers a lot for free and the limitations are less than what I started with ( a drum machine, a cheap keyboard, a few stomp pedals, a dj mixer,a radio shack spring reverb and two tape decks😂). The channel strip is garbage, but I find beginners tend to absolutely use EQ and compression wrong. I find I can get a better results from a beginner by teaching them good sound selection and a balanced mix than I can from them butchering eq and compression settings. The average middle school kid i find simply cranks bass on eq and struggle mightily to even understand what a compressor even is.

The only compressor you have available is useless and there's no way one could learn basic concepts on that. This video demonstrates this well. While it is showing v5, the only thing they did for v6 Prime was fix the button labels.

For my usage it was.  This was for an afterschool program for middle schoolers.  No serious mixing was going on. Any of the kids that showed interest beyond the most basic concepts was able to come to my other studio and work on st1 pro or logic.  The other kids were introduced to the concept of a DAW amd taught about tracks , how to record etc. We didn't dive into mixing beyond a conceptual level

The biggest issue for me in Prime is that Presonus removed every feature you would want to try in their DAW to see if it's worth purchasing later and turned into an ordinary featureless product. Couple that with the fact they force you to jump some hoops to have access to it and you'll find little reasons to use it when you compare it to another free alternatives like CbB.

I found it useful as a teaching tool. It was much easier to introduce basic concepts to my students with prime than more featured. DAWs

I was responding to a poster that who thought Artist was free.

BTW, IMO, Prime is actually quite functional as a standalone DAW as it provides a lot of functionality for recording audio and virtual instruments (only the built-in ones).  It just doesn't have VST support.  It's the DAW I used during COVID shutdown for a group of students to record.  I would say it's the best free DAW that works on Mac and Windows (but only if you don't need VST).

The biggest issue with studio one prine for me is the lack of compressor.

I thought it was only the Quad, not the Octa version that had been free. I know that's the one I got free anyway and I've used it quite a few times. You can get some pretty creative results from it, so might be worth trying it every now and then.

You are likely right. I think it was the annoying ilok nags every time i started my daw that annoyed me

  11. These mix checkers are at best very general and not meant to be the final word on a mix. Even within a genre, the "ideal" mix is subjective and will sometimes be way off of what these tools suggest. I do think where these tools come in handy are when you find yourself not able to work with your usual setup (particularly your room and monitors)  and you need a little assurance that where you are provides a similar sound reference.
