  1. Gig Performer v4.8.2

    Notable enhancements are listed below:

Improvements to the Streaming Audio File Player
    New marker contextual menu
Copying and pasting all markers in a track

Additions to the Timeline Actions Tool
    Optional User comments
    Reset momentary widget

Remap all channels in the Rig Manager
The Rig Manager now gives you the ability to remap all incoming MIDI Messages from a specific device to a single channel.

    Radio buttons improvement
Previously, in Gig Performer v4.7, radio buttons didn’t respond to variations. In version 4.8, radio buttons can respond to variations, and that is the default behavior.

    Logging at Gig Performer startup
You can now enable logging, to log rackspace loading.

    Other enhancements and updates
Multiple markers at the same location are not allowed anymore; for legacy purposes, the actions contained in subsequent markers at the same location will be merged into the first marker.
The MIDI File Player now responds to time signature events - denominator can go to 64th (per SMF specification).
Added new functions and improvements to the GPScript programming language and Gig Performer SDK.
A duplicated action will now include all the content that was in the original action.
The MIDI postfix for values is now case insensitive m or M.

The User Manual is also up-to-date: https://gigperformer.com/docs_4_8/UserManualOnline/what-is-new-in-gig-performer-48.html

    Complete release notes: https://gigperformer.com/release-notes.html

Bonus: the Stream Deck extension for Gig Performer is live.
Here is a blog article with how-to guides: https://gigperformer.com/how-to-install-and-use-the-stream-deck-extension-in-gig-performer/

  2. Hey people :)

So... they should never have joined the Plugin Alliance in the first place.
Deskew had that deal before I joined the Gig Performer team, but as far as I can tell - yes, you're right.

Gig Performer developers are very honest people and their only wish was to have the same pricing for all costumers (except 50% academic discount, for accredited teacher and students). It turned out to be ... quite different ... unfortunately.

We didn't know anything about the vouchers and stuff, the devs really don't bother with that stuff. In their book, the price is the same. We become aware of this when support tickets arrived and we saw that there are people that bought Gig Performer even at ridiculously low prices (unfortunately).

So this is now removed: We regret that we are unable to process cross-grades for Plugin Alliance orders that were deeply discounted
... And there is a new announcement: https://gigperformer.com/upgrading-from-pa-discounted-versions.html

From the page: We were unaware that the use of vouchers (also known as virtual dollars) could result in customers being able to buy products for arbitrary amounts, often paying only $20-40 in real dollars with developers receiving only a portion of those real dollars.

We also compiled the FAQ for Plugin Alliance users: https://gigperformer.com/pa-faq.html

I think that somebody mentioned in the comments that only touring musicians use Gig Performer, I can't find that post (maybe it was edited). Anyway, we discovered that Gig Performer was used for many different use cases. This is an interesting article to read: https://gigperformer.com/gig-performer-is-the-best-companion-for-all-your-musical-efforts-and-more/

I expected that there will be some negative comments, but we also had many cross-grade tickets and people were very supportive.

People are very friendly in the Gig Performer forum and all tickets/questions are dealt with care, 90% at the first 20 minutes, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask on any support channel.

  3. Yes, using virtual cables is one approach, but there are also alternative solutions for routing audio and MIDI.

You can check out this blog article: https://gigperformer.com/how-to-use-a-single-client-asio-driver-with-multiple-applications-on-windows/

Also note that some of these features are available as separate VSTs. You can find many free arpeggiators, for instance.

Depending on what you want to automate there may be other approaches, as well. For example you can use a single MIDI file to switch sounds automatically, send PC events, CC events, etc.  etc.

I’m still coming up to speed on using GP4 and sharing my discoveries along the way.

To speed things up even more, here is my advice:

    - the user manual is always 100% up to date (full disclosure - I wrote it)

    - Gig Performer's blog is perhaps the best center for learning. Make sure to check it out.

    - subscribe to Gig Performer newsletter to be up-to-date with great video streams, tutorials, interesting Gig Performer in Action stories from pro musicians, new blogs and more.

I'm curious as to whether these saved gigs will continue to work after the Demo expires

Saved gig files are saved gig files, i.e. they have nothing to do with the trial expiration. You can open every gig file that was created when using a trial on the fully licensed Gig Performer.

There is no point in merging templates, just google for "Gig and Rackspace files", and you'll find 100+ downloadable files created by GP community users.

As for the routing options on Windows, check the Gig Performer blog, one of recent articles wrote about single-client drivers and routing audio to different places.

Nevertheless, getting Gig Performer from PA was a great bargain (when I finally was able to snag it at $30.99).  Much better than $199 direct from Deskew.

The $199 deal includes both Mac + Windows versions (3+3 activations). But not just that... Deskew responds to support tickets extremely fast and the community is amazing.

  7. The Plugin Alliance edition is (almost) completely independent, they'll have their own pricing options, subscription models, bundles, and other stuff that you used to see from them (vouchers, sales, etc.).

What you see in the first post applies to the regular edition of Gig Performer.
