  1. Are you sure that is a VST? I have the Blackstar Insider and it is a stand alone app only. It’s for control and saving pre sets. There is a USB connection but it doesn’t work very well for audio , noisy, but it’s great for setting up the amp and picking pre sets at a gig or in the studio. I bought the foot controller and it broke after a year. Great sounding amps. But very poorly built tech.
  2. Funny this topic came up because I’m not liking the new layout at all. It never puts the last projects in the cue. I’ve ended up opening back up versions by mistake. I can’t put my finger on what it is that has made this worse than the Cakewalk version and I’m one to slowly get used to new things but it’s been over a month and I’m still hating this thing. The start screen and the inability to make the PRV background white are my only 2 complaints so far.
  3. I cannot comment on the ASIO driver that is supplied for the L -20 as obviously it will be different. Did you watch the above video about using the L8 as a interface? That goes through all the important details of accessing all 12 channels of the L8. Possibly it might be the same for thr L20. You don't use asio4all with Cakewalk. It doesn't get along with it we are told by the developers. To get the Zoom ASIO driver to work properly you might even have top totally remove asio4all as I demonstrate I had to do with a Tascam driver in my situation. The Zoom driver was a bit fussy about just the Tascam ASIO driver possibly because it is very old. So I removed it. But defiantly get rid of all other ASIO driver in the Reg Edit app first. So follow the video and report back and even post a screen shot of your audio setting.
  4. We are not locked out of our work. Far from it. It is too early to know precisely what will happen but we have Sonar. It's not going anywhere. Then we may have a free or very inexpensive basic version of Sonar someday, we don't know but Noel has eluded to this a few times. So please just be patient and stop expecting the worst. Be positive.
  5. As @User 905133 said it is most likely caused by VST instruments having "enable midi output" checked. Also if you are using Midi USB or DIN connections and the midi tracks are going to hardware those as well can loopback. You can avoid it by choosing only your midi controller as the input device. But that might change later if you open Sonar/Cakewalk with that controller disconnected then Sonar will default to OMNI or None which then all inputs are active.
  6. Seems weird for sure. What I would do is next time you perform a "SAVE AS" open the audio folder of the SAVE AS version and confirm the audio did get copied. Also as you are saving watch the Progress bar to see if it moves at a normal speed. For me when I perform SAVE AS and there's a few audio tracks involved it takes around 5 to 10 seconds to progress and finish. If it goes in a flash that tells me something didn't happen. Same with Exporting. This is showing you the audio is being copied and the speed depends on where it's being copied to.
  7. Hi @col I use the L8 as an interface. 1- download and install the Audio Driver from Zoom website. 2- Use ASIO driver setting. 3- open the Zoom control panel and set the buffers to 256 to start with. 4- Computers need to be optimized for Audio and computer techs have no clue about this. Run the Resplendent Latency Monitor app.
  8. Good point. Something is different because I have opened Cakewalk a few times over the last few months and it never needed activation. But possibly because I have the backstage pass for Sonar ??
  9. Check the box to copy audio with project.
  10. You can use the virtual keyboard. Or just click on the note and it will play. The whole purpose of the keyboard on the left is for selecting all notes. As a matter of fact when I was trying other DAWS none of them did this forcing you to lasso the whole time line of notes which involved a few extra steps. Say you have a drum part you need to move or even just change the velocity of. This is one of Cakewalks features I find is unique and indispensable.
  11. I own a Tascam us1641 and a Scarlett 6i6 and now a Zoom L8. those all perform fine at lower settings. The Motu glitches same project same settings.
  12. But how do you get it out of its packaging ?
  13. 50 years for us. Gunna go camping just like the honeymoon but this time in our 84 Chevy shaggin wagon not the back of a Datsun PU.
  14. There’s no such animal? Are you referring to a Korg Krome 88? Korg makes good stuff and it will have proper midi drivers which Cakewalk will be happy with.
  15. I actually like Spam. Goes good with With a little mustard.
  16. Probably was spam he was reporting
  17. This seems obvious- Looks like you are needing a Microsoft VC runtime update. I'm no expert on this but @msmcleod possibly can tell you what is not right.
  18. My conclusion is that Motu is a Mac oriented company and they don't spend any time developing their audio drivers and Software for Windows. On my older Computer which was W10 I had to use 512 buffer of suffer glitches. On my new W11 there's a slight performance improvement and I can use 256. My projects are ridiculously simple. I don't go near any plug ins that are know CPU hogs. My most complicated project will be on the edge of glitching using the Motu as an interface @ 256 but if I switch to my Zoom L8 I can lower my buffers to 128 and even 64. Same computer, same projects. I took some screen shots so you can compare your settings. Pay attention to the box in sync and caching make sure the Motu shows there. Sometimes invasive drivers show up there and you need to delete those in Reg Edit. Also make sure you have the latest ASIO driver from the Motu website.
  19. My question - Are you really that maxed out on memory and CPU that freezing is needed? An option would be to freeze everything and copy the tracks to audio tracks. Then you can unfreeze Kontakt and mute stuff.
  20. Look at the promo for DAWs on the developers web sites. It’s always a Young person wearing headphones sitting at a laptop. There’s the target market. Sometimes you will see a guitar but rare.
  21. It might help if you say which midi slider you are using. And how you are using it. Act? Midi Learn?
  22. OS upgrades always give you the option to keep all files and settings or to nuke them. Myself before I would do this I would spend $50 on a 500 GB ( or??) SSD drive and clone your current system. Samsung has a free app the Magician that I’ve used a few times now that works perfectly for this.
  23. I use a similar app called SonoBus. It has a lot of tweaking you can try to bring the latency down.
