  2. Every time I go to Seattle, my first stop is a secondhand music store called The Trading Musician. I'm looking around at the effects pedals and I see this box with grunge distortion written on it, and of course I have to buy it. Got this puppy home and plugged it in to my amp and it just about shredded my speakers. So yesterday morning after my neighbors went to work, I played a quick bass riff and sat down to my drums and then set up my Les Paul and jammed out for a few hours, and then I thought what the heck I'd share it with you good folks on the cakewalk forums. I'm playing a Fender P Bass through a Fender Rumble 200 Amp and mic'd up with a SM 57. And a Les Paul into the Digitech Grunge Distortion Pedal: and then into a Ernie Ball JR. Volume Pedal: and then into a Boss DD-3 Digital Delay Pedal: and then into my Fender Mustang GTX 100 Amp mic'd up with a SM 57: Threw some guitar chorus to the left because it sounded a little empty. (It's basically a three-piece band) Recorded using Cakewalk by BandLab.

  4. One of the nicest things someone has ever said too me about my guitar playing took place at a small club I was playing in City Island NY back in the 90's . I noticed a young lady in her 30's who need crutches just to walk and stand . She had came out to see me play every time I did a GIG there which turned out to be about once a week . At the end of this gigs night she hobbled up to where I had been playing in the area where I was now packing up my gear she said " Can I talk to you for a moment " I could see it in her eyes that she was energized and filled with positive mojo so I bent over a little and leaned in to meet her at her eye and height level . She asked me if I believed in Reincarnation and I said" Yes I believe in that " . Then she put a big wide smile on her face and blurted out "When I die I want to come back and be reincarnated as your guitar ." I was like wow ! I can tell she had become super embarrassed because tuned redder than an ripe Apple and I did the only thing I could do . I leaned in and put a hug on her that to this day I wish I could experience again . I felt so much emotion stir up inside me for this woman at that moment in time and I asked her was she local and how was she getting home . She told me she lived around 3 or 4 blocks in the area and she had walked to the club. So I strapped my small Fender combo to my motorcycle and left it in front of the club . The I slung my guitar in a gig bag over my shoulder and walked her home . We stood outside the fence of the lawn where she lived under a tree and talked for hours ....I felt so much of a connection that took place in the moment that to even touch her or kiss her would have taken away from the whole wholesome experience ...I figured she had seen and knew how my fingers moved on a guitar and I didn't want to spoil the moment ! ? When the Sun came up I said my goodbyes to her . To this day I have always kept a place in my heart just for her . Kenny Why spoil it

  7. Thanks for trying to burst my bubble. Unfortunately, this article just confirms my observations. The industry has ceased to be talent/creativity centered and is focused on music as product, where you can: autotune poorly performed vocals; quantize out of time playing; replace amateurishly played hits/plucks with industry standard samples; use all sorts of generators and engines that trigger pieces of arrangement with a single key press. And then there are It doesn't indicate total shutdown of the industry, just the end of the era of music creation as we knew it.

  9. A couple of years ago I moved to a big city (which wasn't far away) and last year discovered a world of bands, ensembles and solo/duo performers that make the rounds in the various burroughs' community centres. Tickets are mostly free, the most expensive is 13$ in a nicer theatre. Small venues where you can sit 10ft/3m from the musicians if you get there early. Styles can anything, jazz, blues, pop, classical, Caribbean, folk. Mostly local musicians, some with reputations. All original stuff. I've been really surprised and impressed by the quality. These performers are more young than old, mostly in the middle somewhere, so there are still people dedicating thousands of hours of their lives to making very enjoyable music. It's a real privilege to be entertained by them. They make it look so easy but having tried I know I'll never have the discipline or the drive to achieve anything remotely close.

  13. Well looks like you found a legit bug. I read this( thanks for your kind support) and I just so happened to have been using my Laptop which as you see in the first screenshot I hadn't bothered to update yet. You can see the option is working correctly as well as the TTS-1 is still the default. So I updated to the last update ( probably a mistake) and now as you say the box is not clickable you just get brackets. So @msmcleod @Noel Borthwick looks like the dude who was told to remove TTS_1 from the list also damaged some other code in the add track dialogue. First shot is before update. Then after update

  15. Exactly. I remember back in 2004 when I first started using Cakewalk and I tried the TTS-1 back then and decided it wasn’t for me mostly because the bass and drums didn’t sound very good compared to my Korg 05R/W I think the SI instruments were the first new members of my digital band. We often get posts on the forum here from people who are not at all interested in trying other instruments. I think it’s just over their heads to work that way. They are used to using midi players. My most viewed Cakewalk Tutorial is the one about the TTS-1 There’s a bigger fan club than one can imagine. I’m already getting comments from people who are upset.

  19. Neither have I, but a friend in Canada hand builds pedals and he sent me a bunch of them, including the "Clowntaur": Love it. He also sent me a fuzz, which I never thought I'd enjoy this much, a great Tube Screamer clone, and this Rewolver which is a fantastic booster. Put that in front of the green channel on my otherwise generic Marshall DSL and the amp just comes to life. I always felt the green as an "almost" and the red one was "too much or not quite". The Rewolver just gave me me a "that's it!" golden channel. I am not much of a pedal guy, but I'm glad I have these for different types of dirt.

  20. https://solidersound.com/plugins/s-doubler/ S Doubler effortlessly adds width and depth to your vocal and instrument tracks. It replicates the psycho-acoustic effects of sound proximity to create a true sense of dimension in your mix. Place the four doubling voices on a virtual sound stage and craft the stereo image of your music.

  22. I remember those pedals. I recently got one of those kit builds from StewMac. It's a pedal they created based on a "Klon Centaur Professional Overdrive" I have never played through a real Klon, but this pedal I built is the best overdrive pedal I have ever used. I recommend them highly.

  25. Generally not a fan of internet activation stuff and treating paying customers like criminals, but currently my only dislike with iLok is that not all of the licences allow cloud installs. But I'm also even less of a fan of things where you might be able to lock yourself out of a licence due to a hardware failure or some other random unforeseen hiccup. And apparently the fact that you have to go through the individual companies to get things sorted out in such a case doesn't ease the anxiety. Yet, I think I'm most irked by all the other smaller devs and their own weird online activation systems. I always feel like there's a good chance their system won't work in 5 years when they decide there's no money in plugin world (or the planet blows up/flood fills their basement and they didn't have backups/whatever). Makes me a bit hesitant to bite on certain products I might be interested in if the asking price is more than I'm willing to risk losing. Whoever comes up with the Steam of music software world is gonna win the Noble Peace Prize.

  26. I have a couple iloks, but there are plenty of reasons why I sympathize with the haters. Honestly the only system I like is the one that treats the user as a law abiding citizen and doesn't have some sort of authorization method. But 100% off line with license files and no limited authorizations is also acceptable. Ilok doesn't meet those specifications. I'm sure you have heard the anti ilok rants, you either get it or you don't. It is helpful for reinstalls compared to other similar limited authorization methods.

  29. I really cannot understand the iLok haters! I prefer it a 1000 times over online only installations or exotic authorization models! I would have paid even more than $15 (although I own too many compressors, also a real dbx166 from the 80s)!

  37. What audio interface are you using? If you are using on board sound with ASIO4ALL, please do yourself a favour and get an audio interface that comes with native ASIO drivers. BTW rename your AUD.INI file rather than delete it. This file is found in the following folder: %appdata%\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core

  46. Track View -> Options -> FX -> Show Assignable Controls, On... Assignable Controls will show up under the FX Rack bin, four parameters... Right Click the parameter that you want, go to Group ->... Select the Group you want for every FX you want to control... Now all parameters in the group will be able to be controlled as one... If the parameter that you want to edit is not listed right click on any of them and Reassign Control ->... There is a bit of a bug in the grouping... Seem first time you edit not all plugins will update, but after that they all do... Also on my PC if I try to group DX - FX, like the Sonitus Compressor that you have in your screen shot, when I right click the parameter to group Cakewalk crashes to the desktop every time...
