Status update for @Reid Rosefelt and @Fleer: UVI support said that they don't really have an official grace period, but since I'm such a loyal person they decided to give me a free upgrade! Much more generous than I expected, though I have had nothing but good experiences with UVI support. Thanks again, Reid. Your suggestion was obvious but I wasn't seeing the forest because of all the dang trees. I will mark this day on my calendar as the only day when I actually saved money in the literal sense because of this forum.4 points

ok i find great new with hope that all soft will be ok - for u-he maebe to: Kaiwan_NI Administrator Posts: 2,285 admin 4:56PM edited 5:01PM Hi everyone, Thanks for bringing the issue to our attention. We had a temporary pricing error in our online shop from 3 am to 2:30 pm last Sunday, September 3. This error caused nearly all products to be discounted by over 60%. Once we became aware of the issue, we identified the root cause and made the necessary fix. If you purchased software products during this timeframe, your order will remain unaffected. We recognize that these orders have already been fulfilled and we respect the fact that you may have already installed and used them in your projects. Unfortunately we cannot honor the prices on any hardware orders that were placed during this period. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and disappointment this might cause. These orders will be cancelled and we have begun to issue the refunds. This may take a few days to arrive depending on your payment method. As a gesture of goodwill, we are offering all affected customers a 10% voucher for future hardware purchases which will be sent out via email today. We know a situation like this can be frustrating and we appreciate your understanding. Looking forward, we can assure you that we have adjusted our process to prevent such errors in the future. If you have any questions about your order, please reach out to our Customer Care team here: https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/sections/360000092537 I'll be closing this thread as the matter pertains to specific order details, which are best addressed by our dedicated support team.3 points

Wasn't there a similar incident with NI where they basically just said "sorry, but since this was obviously a mistake we don't need to honor those prices" and just cancelled the transactions for pretty much everyone? Or was it just a bad dream I had? Anyhow, fingers crossed that those of you who managed to purchase some goodies get them. I wouldn't get my hopes up with the hardware, though. That seems unlikely.3 points

We've been gigging a lot this summer, pretty much nonstop since May. So naturally some gigs have been miserable and some pure joy. Varied venues, indoors and outdoors, big and tiny crowds, nice-sounding rooms and echo chambers. Half of them were with house PAs, half with our own gear. Of the former, perhaps 10% had both great gear and someone who knew how to use it. Last night was one of those. I hit it off with the FoH guy right away, being a fellow audio nerd and recording enthusiast. A few weeks ago we played a festival and I really dug the band that came on before us, who did girl-group songs from the 50's and 60's. I thought they'd be a great double-feature with a 60's and 70's band like us, and wondered how to reach out to them. While talking to Dan, the FoH guy, I described that band and he said "yeh, that's my mom". Kismet. The venue was a farm, but more like Knott's Berry Farm than Old Macdonald's, with kiddie rides and a brewery. We played in the brewery. It has roll-up garage doors, which were open because it was a warm evening and most of the audience was outside on a large patio. There were lots of little kids, dancing and grinning and thoroughly enjoying music older than their grandparents. I'd rather play for 5-year-olds than drunken geezers, even if the latter tip better. The staff treated us well, comping beer and food. And at the end of the night, directed us to the freezer section of the adjacent store to pick out pies to take home with us. Of all the perks I've ever received at gigs, getting a pie was the best.3 points

HoRNet DeeLay FREE for 24 hours The deal expires on September 5th at 23:59:59 (Italian time) The HoRNet DeeLay is a good sounding vintage digital dub delay, it’s capable of common delay duties and it’s also up to the most demanding creative tasks. The vintage button gives the HoRNet DeeLay that typical early 90s sound where digital was still imperfect and with a character of its own. The DeeLay can make endless feedback loops and changing the delay time changes the pitch of the buffer creating funny and interesting noises, the time parameter can be modulated with an LFO allowing the creation of futuristic wobbling sounds. Since the delay is digital it has all the robotic artifacts of modulated digital delays instead of the smooth action of an analog emulated delay. Try it on vocals, guitars or anything that needs space, the HoRNet DeeLay will surprise you with it’s spacey yet focused sound. https://www.hornetplugins.com/plugins/hornet-deelay/2 points

In case anyone bought some u-he synth(s) and is new to u-he: They have plenty of free soundbanks in their Patchlib. It's easy to miss. They're a little hidden, because they're currently reworking their patchlib and you have to navigate to the old patchlib. There you can select your synth and will find plenty of soundbanks, most of which are free.2 points

From a story I read a long time ago: Jimmy had a #8 hit with "Margaritaville" and went on writing more songs. Then he saw a bar called "Margaritaville" that was doing great business with that laid back, island atmosphere. Jimmy saw that as a gold mine, so he bought the trademark from the lounge, and started his empire. In the end, "Margaritaville", a moderate #8 hit has become the most valuable song in history with cruises, retirement communities, beer and all the other ventures Buffett launched with that song. Opportunity came knocking, and Buffett opened the door and invited it in. Notes ♫2 points

Me neither. I hate this uncertainty. I guess they're discussing the issue with their legal department/attorney/lawyer and fear to make a public statement that could be held against them.2 points
-
They may still be confused. Maybe they are in the process of talking privately and can't reveal it. If they finally do respond with some kind of message, I think it is an act of good faith. I have seen other developers who do not admit their mistakes, insist on justification, and treat their customers like crazies. I hope NI is not one of those developers.2 points

No that's not what's being said. The authorization server has been upgraded to support the upcoming Sonar/Next releases. This is incompatible with the old authorization server. When their authorization period runs out, the CbB 2022.11 release (and all releases of CbB before it) will try to connect to a now defunct authorization server, so the authorization will fail. CbB 2023.09 does work with the new authorization server. So: - If you're using CbB 2022.11 or earlier, it'll continue to work until the authorization period runs out. - At that point, you'll need to upgrade to CbB 2023.09. Of course, when Sonar is released you can always get that too.2 points

One of the first thoughts that comes to my mind, regarding your post, is that "common basics" are really going to be individual, rather than common. -For instance, in what I mostly program, hi hat variations are one of my pet peeves, as there are never enough in any sample set to match real world variations. -For me-. And, as to a ride & choke combo - I have played plenty of drum passages using expression on the ride - I would never leave that out. -But again, that's me-. I suppose our OCD nature needs to be recognized as personal, and although it's natural also to compare, and even helpful to learn some other viewpoints, one might want to try and focus on what method actually suits us best going forwards. Sometimes it's about interoperability - between projects, or established standards, so then there's that too. -Way back when, as I began to program early MIDI drum modules that started with GM drum mapping as a basis, I was initially frustrated at some of the groupings and limitations of that system. I still never found a "perfect" distribution of drum parts in mapping, and now with the depth of some drum sample sets, I find I can hardly make an "optimized" map that always covers the basics in any given sample set. In fact, I bounce back & forth between maps, depending on the material I'm covering, and whether the default sample sets are sufficient, or need to be customized (which for me it's about 50/50). -I'm just glad I can create & use alternate note name maps in Cakewalk for use in the PRV, that one ability alone helps me navigate my drum mapping OCD much more comfortably. -All the programming still eats up so much time though!1 point
-
i took the original AD2 drum map, and i made copies for different MIDI sources since each of them had decided to use "alternate" notes for things. so if i source my MIDI from Hookpad, Musescore, Toontrack, or some other MIDI library, i know to just open the AD map i edited. i'm not sure this is the best approach as it has taken 10-15 minutes for each one to adjust the note # in the source to the AD note #. so maybe just bite the bullet and take the baseline AD drum map and tweak it for your source(s). and just ignore the ones you're not likely to use or simply remove them if you aren't concerned with some of the articulations being played.1 point

We are living in the age of bullshit. Everyone is full of it these days. What I have found lately is that I am using the plugins that come built in and bundled in my DAW more often than usual. Works just fine now that you kind-a know what you are doing with some of them.1 point

OMG! If you haven’t seen the parody “latest/greatest” plugin video in the Production Expert article, it is absolutely hilarious! A great way to start the weekend with a laugh! Full disclosure: I’ve been sucked in by my impulsive gotta-have-it plugins that end up in my “how did I forget I had this” bin. ? Here is the direct link to the YT video.1 point
