  1. Fluffy Audio has dropped the latest in their "Rarities" series -- free forever, so far as I know: https://www.fluffyaudio.com/shop/khim/ From the description: Full Kontakt only, I'm afraid.

  2. This is getting concerning. It's day three since he vanished, I think. I truly hope all is well. Larry is very much like a National Treasure to many of us.

  3. FWIW, I think it goes without saying that you need proper tools to make top-tier Profiles/Captures/etc. No different than mic'ing a real amp. Some audio interfaces (ie: Antelope) have built-in "re-amp" capabilities. Most audio interfaces don't. For those that don't, you'll need to grab something like this Radial box (~$250): https://www.radialeng.com/product/x-amp "Holy Grail" amps are different for different users/uses. Brad Paisley, John Patrucci , Joe Bonnamassa, Slash, Steve Vai would likely each have a different idea of perfection. Thus far, I prefer Quad Cortex Captures vs. Kemper Profiles. To my ears, they're more accurate. Quad Cortex can run up to 9 simultaneous Captures (stereo rigs, individual boost/drive pedal captures, etc). GE Labs (Mooer) to my ears isn't as accurate as Kemper/QC. It'll be interesting to see how accurate the IK's Machine Modeling sounds. If it's on-par with the Kemper/QC, it'll be a hit.

  5. Tantra 2 at $25 and Thorn at $20 are both worth grabbing if you haven’t got them already. Good price on Knifonium at $25, but everytime I’ve played with it it’s failed to wow me. YMMV. I don’t get the appeal of analog EQ emulations or console emulations which is great – it’s saved me a ton of money! ?

  6. And don’t forget you can use the code WELCOME-BACK-25-OFF for $25 off any order of $29 or more (if you have not used it already)

  9. While it's nice of all of you to care about Larry's absence, maybe you ought to be out making some money since you know it will all disappear upon Larry's return! ? (Although it's possible that Larry has simply taken all of the commissions he has earned from you guys and bought a tropical island to retire on... ??)

  10. Pretty sure it’ll work for you too: WELCOME-BACK-25-OFF (use it on top of the plug-in voucher)

  12. How they approached it was a mixed bag. However, getting the 3 extra kits for $28 out of pocket was about the only way they got me to jump on the "upgrade" - seperate kits at that price point or higher was a no go and the normal IKM upgrade pricing is also a no go. This is actually about the best I've seen for an expansion from IKM...an option that offers what you don't have at a reasonable price point. As for the next group buy...they haven't released enough stuff since the last one where I bougth into the group buy to get virtually everything to spend on the tier it would take to get the new stuff. I'd expect I'm a few GBs out from jumping on another one. I did get the recent Synth GB but havne't even opened a single one yet. Edit: Adding to the thought here - I wish we had the same treatment for the Modo Bass upgrade. At $28 I would have jumped on the new basses and patterns engine. At around $150 minus JamPoints I can't come close to stomaching it as a previous version full owner personally.

  13. Yes, I did and I'm full up! I've been eying the Tape plugins and Fame and few others for a while and this was a great way to pick up them up and was totally worth it. I just wish there was something to do with extra picks... ?

  20. Me and myself got Shadow Hills A and the Amek 9099 channel. Still pondering over Neold Warble (but I’ve got XLN RC-20, Slate VTM and Wavesfactory Cassette) or Knif Soma (but I’ve got the IK version) or Tomo Lisa (but I’ve got enough dynamic EQs with better GUIs).

  21. Hopefully Larry's just enjoying a bit of downtime rather than having to dash off to tend to family matters as he sometimes needs to. If I posted all the deals he stays on top of I'd need time off to let my fingers recover from all that typing anyway...perhaps he just has cramp. Wishing you well, Larry.

  24. Same case here. The updated APD sale page speaks volumes and at least clears up some things - thanks BTP! One good thing about this thread - it relieved some GAS on this old soul. I'll just wait for another group buy or holiday sale for the new kits - it's not like I don't already have enough drums to (or not) work with! ?

  25. I'm just starting the Unify journey through the looking glass, but the more I see and read, the more I think it was $79 well spent. Spitfire LABS and Heavyocity Foundations are really the only two free instruments I use. During my 70 years on this dirt ball, I've discovered that there really is no free lunch. But there's nothing wrong with not wanting to pay more than necessary for that lunch. And I'm especially happy if my money goes directly to the farmer/developer.

  26. So, if one owns the original MODO Drum, then adding MODO DRUM SE 1.5 will result in owning the full MODO DRUM 1.5?

  27. I am still on MODO drum 1.1.3 (full). 10 kits. No drama here!

  28. Ahhh! Well... That idea didn't work either, but I did finally stumble on the secret! This might get more refined as I use it more, but this is the scene... Select the note Select the tool split type Dbl-Click on the vertical line at note junction which has already changed to a different marker appearance Now using the note slip tool works independent of neigbor notes! At Last I can repeat this! I may have missed or done things not/necessary and I will clean it up with more use, but at least I'm finally on the path. I really needed this tool as the work arounds have been driving me batty! ?

  31. The thing is that Skippy is a master sound designer with decades of synth programming experience. He hired a Ph.D computer scientist to take his "what if" or "can I do this" ideas and use them to develop Unify. It's essentially the mind of Skippy in an app. Nothing else like it. Yes, time saving means money to Skippy.

  35. Deal is real, at least for me. I bought, downloaded and installed it. Only problem is the activation process is not working. This appears to be a Waldorf, rather than APD issue, since the redemption code I received from APD worked when it came to registering it on the Waldorf site.

  38. Good way to put it. It's a toolkit for the purpose of combining VSTs in unique ways using a set of unique tools. It does that well and probably why I own it. While I guess nothing is exactly like anything else, there is often more than one way to skin a cat ( just for the record, I don't skin cats at all). As in most fairly deep programs, much of the user base only use the easiest to approach functions and don't as often look at the other capabilities it has. If you get deeper into UNIFY, I think it's really pretty amazing. I also realize I am not half the sound programmer Skippy is, so no matter what tools you give me I won't come up with many of the things he makes. Not that going deeper is a bad thing since maybe we can get to places we never imagined. Yep, I could play in UNIFY for months if I had the time and probably come up with some amazing things. If you look at what Skippy has done, some of it can be copied to other vsts using those ideas. I see it mainly as a time saver. Sure I can load up other programs and set midi key limits on different ranges for different sounds in a DAW, adjust volumes, add plugins etc. UNIFY makes the process a bit more fun and trouble free. Most stick with one or two DAWs. Any studio worth their salt will meticulously save everything. Not knocking that product, just making the point that if a person hade some of the same goals as UNIFY they could do similar in a DAW. Not really "apples to apples" either ......anyways, sorry to side track a thread on this Spitfire library. Not sure if Skippy did it yet, but it would be interesting to now combine the orchestra and the choir in a UNIFY patch.

  40. Thanks John for the confirmation. Your workaround is close to what I was planning to do, which is to duplicate the midi track and use the volume automation lane to control the output from each of the inserts of the VST. My only hesitation is that my piece is for double choir ( SATB x 2 ) so that will be a lot of duplicated midi tracks!

  41. Way way back in 1984 when I first used an Atari and played midi tracks live we quickly learned to leave that 1 st measure space to avoid stuck notes and let all our hardware set up properly. So all my ancient midi files start on 2nd measure. Prg changes and stuff start on beat 2. Zero is never a good idea with midi and even audio for that matter.

  42. Alternatively, it looks like you can achieve the same effect by (temporarily) removing the GS Reset System Exclusive message from your MIDI file. As a test, I removed the GeneralMidiSMFs=0 from TTSSEQ.INI I had previously added. Using another MIDI file editor I removed the GS Reset from your MIDI file, then opened the file in Cakewalk and saved it, then examined the MIDI file in another editor. I saw the same results as when I had added the GeneralMidiSMFs=0 line to TTSSEQ.INI. (Cakewalk no longer moves all notes 1 measure later. However, there is still some slight adjustment of the notes at time zero in your MIDI file, they're now 3 ticks later. And the initial setup events in each track are still reordered and some are moved 1 to 3 ticks later.) Source: Special handling of GM, GS, and XG MIDI files:
