I love SampleLogic's products. As a key member of this forum would say - its "guud stuough." Their UI's are the most compact, confusing Kontakt UIs you will ever see, but once you get the hang of it, it is really cool.3 points

I've seen this one go on sale quite a few times and didn't quite see much of a need.. turns out I've been sleeping on it! This thing can be used to tweak the sound and fatten like they say, but you can actually get crazy creative with it and abuse it. For $12.46 and the fun I've had in one session and the track I've sketched out while messing with it as a result, it's a total no brainer ? PSP once again, did not disappoint! This was also a handy video covering some more of the LFO and automation etc possibilities:3 points

Thenatan Trax free for a week. Voucher: " TheNatanGift " at https://www.thenatan.store/p/oxoq/ Valid for 7 days from the 16th July I guess (when the video was posted, Sanjay Cs YT channel) Nice, comprehensive drum VST. They say Trap a lot but if you do anything that calls for more punchy, synthesised/electronic sounds then a nice collection, 50 kits.3 points

Let's see what VirusTotal has to say about it. It's big so it may take awhile. -- edit -- I'm back. A handful of sites couldn't process the file, but the ones that did all came up clean...3 points

Norway I got back from Sweden and Norway a couple of weeks ago with thousands of pictures and videos of fjords and villages and churches etc etc. I was going to jump in and make a music video from my Norway images, but I came down with Covid a day after I returned. Until a couple of days ago I felt like crap - coughing and nausea and fever, but the worst was a sore throat that discouraged eating and drinking. And yeah, I'm fully vaccinated but I think I got the newer variant that manages to get by the vaccine. Hope you're all doing okay. -Bjorn2 points

I just installed Windows 7 (32 bit) last week to make an old piece of hardware gear work. Really takes me back ?2 points

My favourite drawing package, that I still use regularly, is/was Micrografx Designer (and the rest of the Suite, including a 3d modeller). I purchased it sometime before 1991. I still haven't found a replacement that does as much, is as easy use, and is affordable. I used it in XP Mode under Windows 7 and then, when I just this year moved to Windows 10, thought I'd lost it forever. I actually went about setting up a nested virtual machine to run XP Mode inside Windows 7 inside VMware but at one point discovered that my problem was only the fact that Designer was 32 bit. Installing my Windows 7 as 32 bit in VMware solved everything and I can continue to use my beloved drawing software for more years to come. So old software doesn't have to die, if you're lucky...2 points

I'm surprised no one has yet thought to include a Zombies track in a zombie movie or TV series. It would be such a great gag, having the hero frantically running from a zombie horde accompanied by "Tell Her No". No, no, no, don't hurt me now...2 points

Hi Mark, I've long said that MIDI makes a lot possible, but not necessarily easy. MIDI controllers are the key to creating an expressive "performance". I do spend a lot of time with controllers, it's all about detail, detail, detail. Particularly important are note attacks and release, and, of course, choosing the best sample-set for the phrase in the first place. Paying attention to velocities. tempos and strong and weak beats is necessary to create a convincing MIDI performance. The more programming you do, the better it will sound. If something bothers your ear, fix it. Do not gloss over it. Fix and improve every little detail that isn't right. My library-of-choice is the Vienna Symphonic Library Orchestral Cube. It has about 764,000 24-bit samples and I doubt I will ever need or want any other library. It's fantastic. I use it with MIR, which is an incredible spatial convolution reverb that lets me place instruments where I want in the stereo field. There are a lot of libraries available now. It's more about one's skill as a composer/orchestrator/producer than it is what library you use. There are many good libraries now on the market. I haven't found a need to use Cakewalk's articulations as of yet. I've looked at them but cannot see how they'd save me any time based on how fast I work and how well-established my sequencing habits are. But who knows, perhaps in the future I may find a way to make use of them. Thank you for taking the time to listen to this movement. I know I am asking a lot of a person's time, but always hope that the listener finds that their time was well-spent. Jerry2 points

Enough. There I've said it. I'm not going down this path unless 8dio gives me a no or looow cost reason to abandon their Kontakt line and free up that disk space. Sure it has some nice demos but so do a lot of other libraries that I've not invested in.2 points

Here's a few that only require Unify that I have found to be very good! There are a lot more listed, but the easiest way to locate them is if you hover your mouse over the "Products" menu on the top bar of the web site (don't actually click on "Products"). A page will appear below (looks like Javascript magic) that lists all products by type. The Unify only products are listed in the first column. Yes, I know, they really need a better web developer with an eye for design! ? https://www.pluginguru.com/products/megamagic-guitars-for-unify/ https://www.pluginguru.com/products/modern-cinema-renegade/ https://www.pluginguru.com/products/unichill-v1/2 points

The last months are depressing! The only good deals IMO are always for plugins that I already own! ? There were minimum 6 great deals like the one above, sometimes even for less than I had paid. This is good for my purse, but not for my soul! ?2 points

LOL, of course, we all have multiple licenses for these due to giveaways! Yep, there they are. I got rid of the Presonus shell thing, it was taking years off my life waiting for it to enumerate, and just not worth it for the sake of one good vintage analog delay emulation and a channel strip containing vintage hardware workalikes duplicated elsewhere.1 point

I have them both, and enjoy them. From the usage standpoint with modelling, Arturia definitely has the advantage. But the Syntronik synths can sometimes sound more realistic. Maybe because they sampled real vintage synths? And the new samples and synth engine in Syn 2.0 are even better! But I won't be collecting any more sampled synths, that is for sure! The house is full! ?1 point

Bingo. Ever hear of someone named Bob Dylan? He hardly made any money for Columbia, but I bet you've heard of him. He brought serious cachet to the label. I've met the guy who owns BandLab. He knows not just the price of things, but the value of things And bear in mind that since BandLab took over Cakewalk, the company has had nothing to do with me, other than telling me they have some new guitars (which frankly are pretty awesome). They don't support my Cakewalk books, and they didn't offer me a gig to write a column after Sound on Sound dropped it. I don't owe them anything, and they don't owe me anything. So when I say that I believe their motives are real, there's nothing in it for me. Who wouldn't want to spread the ability to make music to a wider number of people? Some of us still believe in the power of music. Maybe BandLab is just as naive as I am1 point
