If you don’t have pro Q3 you should get it. It is my most used plug-in. All Fabfilter stuff is top notch. Never had any problems with the plug-ins, authorizations, or compatibility. One more thing. You will never find them for 49.00 or 30.99 or 29.99 or 24.99 or 17.99 or 17.76!4 points

Not a bad idea. Unfortunately, he'd destroy them in a day, and even the cheapest musical instruments would add up over time. That's why I don't scold him when he drags in a tree branch. Got lots of those. Found items are generally fine by me. I only intercede when he's eating glass or ceramic garden gnomes. Lately it's been roofing tiles. I haven't figured out where he's getting them, but I may have to start locking up the ladders.3 points

This may be the problem. Dial it back to 1 (the default). I only set it to 7 when troubleshooting.3 points

One more day to join. You can change (or abandon) your pick until the end of July. And you get to keep the freebies whatever you do. But beware, these instruments are addictive. You are warned.3 points

I don't often stray from 4/4 time but I've had a go with this one: https://www.bandlab.com/post/4b5776c9-b901-ed11-b47a-281878315d59 Some lyrics adapted from the 1972 film "Sleuth" (well it was good enough for Morrisey) and also from "A Few Good Men". Comments welcome as always. EDIT: link corrected - this is the version that I meant to post and has a lead guitar solo. EDIT 2: Here's the remix. I've taken some bottom end off the organ to give the bass a chance, also I've swapped the order of the 2nd and 3rd verses. I'd be interested to hear what you all think of that and whether or not the story still flows. The idea is that I now have "pregnant silences" followed by the stop - I considered moving the stop instead, but I think that might be too early in the song to have one. Any thoughts? https://www.bandlab.com/post/17b3b057-9102-ed11-b47a-281878315d59 EDIT 3: @jwnicholson78 I've added a leslie organ to the middle 8 and coda as suggested. https://www.bandlab.com/post/e8fc39df-d205-ed11-b47a-281878315d592 points

Exactly! Bounce your projects to audio and you will have them virtually forever. The most common problems seem to arise when hobbyists attempt to resurrect projects that they were working on 10-20 years earlier, after taking some time off for careers, families, etc. Unlike your old hardware that you can just fire up again, the software world has moved quickly in 10-20 years!!!2 points

Good point I need to remember when older software stops working. Newer versions of .NET frameworks may not be as backward compatible as advertised either. Every time someone posts something like this, that they're having trouble with older plug-ins, my first thought is "yikes, why mess with such antique software?" If I think about it in terms of the hardware instruments and processors they emulate, though, it makes more sense. I still own and use hardware synths that are over 20 years old, I have multiple hardware processors that are older even than that. I have a couple of guitars that were, like me, made in the early 60's. So having grown up with the mentality that my music-making tools can last, if not a lifetime, then at least a very long time, I tend to acquire plug-ins using the same mentality. I need to remember that they are software, and as such, more ephemeral than the hardware they emulate/replace. At some point, I'm going to have to being okay with the idea of someday letting them go, no matter how good I've become at getting results with them (although I do hope that Vojtech Meldaproduction at least keeps his code usable until I'm gone from this earthly plane ?). Continuing to use 32-bit plug-ins, using older 64-bit plug-ins that have started to be problematic (and are no longer under development), that require wrappers or whatever, that's when they become only for use in legacy projects, in my book. An inducement to actually finish projects from 5 years ago and then consign them to the archives! This business/hobby of making music on my computer with a shoestring budget will require me to keep learning new tools. If I were a pro, maybe I'd be investing in things like UAD plugins. It's a gamble: which developers do I think will be sticking around long enough to keep me in updates? Fingers crossed that my beloved AIR synths don't stop working until something else comes along. They are my most-used, and they are some olde code.2 points

WRT legacy installs nothing has changed since this post The last SONAR installer that included the Blue Tubes bundle was the Studio Mixing FX Suite for SONAR Platinum. If you don't want to deal with legacy installs pick up a license for the Blue Tubes Bundle from Don't Crack.2 points

I use to gobble up these deals until I found my loop collection was over 800gb. https://www.functionloops.com/ Research before you are out of $37, disk space, time auditioning. If you look each one up most of them are construction kits. Get their newsletter and they have discounts. I have a lot of their stuff, This is far better stuff than that one that's basically under Magix.2 points

I deleted the post, however; at the bottom of posts should be thumbnails of the uploaded images. There is a trashcan on the right side of the images to delete them. It is also possible to manage images by opening up My Attachments in your account.2 points

I took early retirement (I'm 62) in January and my songs have become my new "job". I'm lucky enough to have a decent sized spare room that I can use as a studio. It's much more interesting and satisfying that being an electronics engineer and dealing with all of the corporate BS that goes with working for a defence company. ?2 points

I went ahead and bought it from another retailer (AudioDeluxe) as they were the cheapest for someone who already used a referral code in the past. If you have referral credits in your account from other people using your code, they will not let you use it for MTurboAmp during this special intro price. Personally I thought that was pretty lame and a poor way to support people that are out there spreading the good word about Melda in the first place and driving new business to them. That said, the intro pricing was lower than I expected them to come into the market with, so didn't make a big stink about it.1 point

Too bad. I might have gotten Modo Bass 2 SE if it was $49. Interestingly both SE and Full are $149 on the IKM site. I wonder if they are going to put SE on sale.1 point

No software does, really. The end to Cakewalk, Inc. was a hard lesson in how a company. And you can't "buy" licenses for the mighty Photoshop and Pro Tools any more (yes, I know you can still get a "perpetual" license for PT that will end your updates after a year). If you kept your old licenses for those, well, that means that your software is effectively orphaned. I understand the desire/need for big software companies to go to subscription models, but I think that it should be optional. Subscriptions for bundles, perpetual licenses for individual products. Incentives for pros who can afford/justify monthly payments for the whole enchilada. But companies can change their licensing models whenever they decide to, leaving hobbyists like me stranded. The only company where I've spent what I consider "serious" money (as opposed to onesie-twosie $10 Plugin Boutique or Alliance sales) is Meldaproduction, and part of why is their licensing policies. Lifetime updates (SONAR Platinum license holders shudder here). Free new ones if they decide to add them to a bundle you already have. I have 3 bundle licenses (including the "pro" upgrade of the FreeFX bundle), and all of them have received amazing feature updates just in the time I've had the licenses. But the whole empire rests on one genius, and if, heaven forbid, anything happens to Vojtech (or he just decides to do something else), there goes the whole show. Moral of the story: finish projects before my plug-ins stop working! ?1 point

To be clear about this, you click buy and it takes you to a page that says the price is $99. You have to click the button that says "add to cart" and only then do you see the discount. That's what happened after I contacted customer service, but I never tried it before that. Anyway, I bought it. ?1 point

No email here yet, and I am subscribed to their marketing emails. I did receive the Arturia email about the FX Collection upgrade earlier this month. Which I passed on... maybe they are mad at me now? ? Edit: Arturia customer support quickly added the upgrade discount coupon to my account after I contacted them! All good now!1 point

Deal: 64% off "Perfect Room" by denise Value: €107 Discount: 64% Price: €39 Grab the deal now on http://www.VSTBuzz.com Classic algorithmic reverb plugins use a combination of short feedbacking delays to create the illusion of reverberation. These delays cause unwanted metallic resonances and sharp spikes in the reverb’s frequency response. The denise Perfect Room doesn’t use delays for the tail. Its technology allows for highly creative use, different sounds, and can enhance the character and colouration of any audio you run through it in an extremely natural way, sounding defined and tight from the lowest kick all the way up to the highest vocal. Grab the deal now on http://www.VSTBuzz.com!1 point

Meh... beg to differ. I'm setting up a new(ish) computer and the iLok plugins (I use the iLok3 dongle) were the least problematic thing I had to deal with. Turns out I had a flakey SSD hard drive that always passed diagnostics but the OS would gradually get corrupted - the last one lasted for almost 3 weeks before suddenly going south and becoming unbootable. I ended up installing Windows multiple times (at least 5) in the course of dealing with this and had to contact multiple plugin developers because I had burned through my allowable authorizations. Also not having to deal with all the various authorization/licensing schemes was a joy. The one exception that comes to mind is Softube - with their clunky installer that won't remember your password & other issues using iLok doesn't help things.1 point

Legacy Cakewalk instruments are old, unmaintained code. Which in many cases will still work fine, until it doesn't! If the problem is due to a software incompatibility with Reason, then you would need to convince Reason support to implement a workaround fix. I ran into a similar issue using a Cakewalk instrument with Ableton Live some years ago, and Ableton support straight up told me they were not going to support any end-of-life plugins. It is what it is. If the old stuff still works, then great! Otherwise not so much... One other thing to consider is that you may not have all of the older Microsoft Visual C++ redistributables installed on your machine. That can sometimes cause errors with older software being run on newer Windows machines, independent of the DAW being used.1 point

For some time now, rollback installers are provided in the product announcements to roll back to the previous version. These rollback installers may be sequentially applied to get back to older releases. The rollback installer for 2022.02 is in the 2022.06 product announcement.1 point

Cakewalk by Bandlab? Or SONAR? Or Platinum? Cakewalk by Bandlab may be able to be reverted to an earlier release. If you purchased one of those older programs, they may be available in your Cakewalk Command Center.1 point

Thanks for the shout out. I actually designed many of the amps and things in MTA. I hope people like them. Also MTA can be used for other things like overdrive pedals or just general saturation. I'm actually working on some new amps now, so there should be more coming soon. If there is anything you think it needs more of i. e. Clean amps, distortion pedals, etc let me know and I'll see what I can do. I hope everyone enjoys it.1 point
